I got an email today from an ebay random security check. It is from "aw-confirm@ebay.com". When you open the mail it is the ebay sign in screen asking me to sign in with my user ID and password to confirm myself. They say in the email it is to curtail the ongoing fraud. I haven't done anything with it. Has anyone else gotten one of these???

Hi everyone,

I have a NPB that I went to send a second reminder invoice to today and of course, the email address came back as indeliverable. I went to check the person on Ebay and it now says that the user is suspended. How do I proceed from here? File for fees and relist?

Let me know.

Thanks,

Martha

Ooooh, I'd be cautious of this! I have not received anything like that.... don't ebay messages typically include language about how your password won't be requested?

Don't know if this is related, but there is apparently a PayPal scam going on in which an email asks you to click a link to log on to PayPal, and it is bogus. By doing so, one ends up giving their PayPal ID and Password to some third party.

You probably ought to wait to see others' opinions, but in your shoes, I'd personally go to ebay through my normal bookmark and poke around in my account, etc., and see if there is any reference to such a security check.

Please let us know if you learn more about this!

eBay never asks for your password. If they want an update (because they suspect foul play), they would just ask you to go to eBay.com and change it there.

The letter you got has been circulating for a long time..it's a fraud if it's the same. There is one almost identical coming from Paypal.

Good for you for not responding to it.

Posted on another board:

eBay Canada told users on its announcement board that the Canadian
Union of Postal Workers served Canada Post with an advance notice of
its intention to strike, as required under federal labor law. It
warned sellers to contact buyers "in the event that Canada Post does
go on strike and you have some packages still in transit via Canada
Post" to warn them of a possible delay in
> the delivery of their package.

I am always stumped with S&H. I don't like the hassle of having to figure and email everyone the shipping, so I take the gamble and put a general amount-usually a bit above avaerage- (plus a little for packaging and such) in my auction.

I know some people will be upset with the shipping if they end up being from a cheaper zone but I like having a set amount and I figure if they see the amount and still bid then there can be no complaints. Where as if you don't get a response on what your shipping will be you can get charged a ton.

I personally hate having to email for shipping cost...I have even skipped these auctions(like reserve! UGH I hate that)

Maybe I am doing it all wrong but I have only had one person email me that the shipping was a bit high(for her zone it was 1.50 over) and I refunded her the difference. I thought this was fair. I got glowing feedback so I guess she was pleased as well.

Have you ever refunded for shipping? I just sold a dollhouse. I went to UPS and figured shipping by weight and size, and that is what I charged the buyer. The buyer didn't say anything to me about the shipping, just paid. When my husband shipped it yesterday, it was so cheaper than what the site said. What would you do?

I think you'll get lots of different answers, but personally, I would refund the difference, or at least the amount over and above the packing materials cost. You can only build good will by doing this, and you'll likely get extra good feedback, as well as a good feeling about doing it.
:) :p :)

Robinrs,

I think you are experiencing REALLY good karma! :)

From your many prior posts, you seem to exemplify the golden rule, and it seems to me this is coming back to you. Good for you!

You are too kind, Mrs. Snowgod!

You have no idea, I have the most unbelievable buyers! Wonderful people!

We leave for Orlando... AGAIN... on Thursday. I can't wait to find some one of a kind Disney items at the discount centers. So far all of the ones I've listed sold like gangbusters! I'm posting some things before I go just because I can't help it!! Also, I love to check them when I get back from the parks! :teeth:

I've hit a snag in my "ebay my way to dis-nay" program (got to make it rhyme!). My mother-in-law gave us a Gucci purse, purchased at the Gucci storie in Acapulco and never used to sell. We advertised it as "never-used". The buyer just got it and claims that it is a fake (it was purchased at the Gucci Store) and that it is worn (which it is not, it has sat in my mother-in-laws closet for about 7 years and was never used).

The buyer wants her money back and I know I should do that but even she admits that the bag is exactly as advertised sO part of me wants to say buyer beware ... (but I'm probably too nice of a guy to do that.)

What do you think?

Oh, what a pain in the patoot that is! So, you are faced with being "right" and possibly getting lousy feedback, or being nice and exerting a lot more effort into that item. But, if you do the refund and relist the purse, you may well sell it for more the second time around. And you'd probably get good feedback for going "above and beyond". So, you have a dilemna... bummer!

Good luck with your decision, and I'll be interested to learn what you ultimately decide. :D

I would offer to let her send it back..but warn her you have one of the unseeable light marks on it, (which is not a bad idea if you sell expensive stuff in the future..you can't see the mark, unless you have a special light) and of course you have to make sure it's still there, before you can refund her. If she's trying to pull a switch you won't see it..if not..then maybe a switch was done to the person who originally bought it.

My NPB from a few weeks ago finally paid me, but after I filed the NPB report. I have not filed for FVF. Do I need to do anything as far as letting e-bay know she did pay me? Or does it matter as long as I haven't filed for FVF? Anyone who knows, please advise. Thanks.

Okay - I've gotta take a break for a few minutes here..

Just got 27 items ready to ship out at the post office tomorrow and I'm beat! This has been an incredible few days for me.. Hopefully my next batch of auctions will do as well!

-----------

Son-in-law dropped by tonight and we fiddled around with my clothes dryer and got it going again.. Lucky thing for him that I did NOT heed his advice and pitch it.. I just had this gut feeling that it wasn't really "dead" and I was right! He sure does hate it when I'm RIGHT - LOL.. After all, I'm a "woman" so I'm not supposed to know any of those things.. Ah yes....when will the "boy" ever learn???;)

---------------------

Sounds like I'm not the only one running into snags this week.. But then again - for all of you who had auctions close on the weekend - did you notice there was a FULL MOON ???? And you all know what they say about THAT - right?

Hopefully this weekend will run a little smoother for all of us.. Hate to see anyone get discouraged.. When I was feeling down earlier this week I just went and counted my money and that made me feel a whole LOT better - LOL.. :)

Hang in there gang - cause..........................

We're goin' to Disney !!!!!!!

Yaaaaay eBay!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! That's almost 50 packages in the past week if I remember right. Good for you!! I'm tired just thinking of it.

I'm hoping eBay soon fixes the problem upsetting lots of us using cable and DSL..the slowness is driving me nuts. I planned to go off vacation this week, but after seeing so many are still crawling while eBay switches over to IBM powered, I'm remaining on vacation from eBay. I can hardly do a search..and I just don't have the time to look things up with it so slow. And I can't go back to dial up..I just can't LOL! Hope I don't get too used ot all this relaxing.

I think all totaled I've had something like 77 auctions close in the past ten days!! Still waiting on payment from some, but this has got to be the best 10 days of my "ebay career" ever!!! :D

I'm hoping to have 100 auctions up and running before I leave for the lake on Friday.. If this next batch does as well, then I will be thoroughly convinced that it's changing over to the 5-day auctions instead of the 7-day.. I think it's creating a sense of "urgency" and that's why the bids are starting sooner and going higher..

I'll keep you all posted on what happens!! ;)

That's a lot of bidding!! I'd think that way, and then it would change. For me, over the long run two weekends work the best for higher bids..so I do 10 day auctions...except for December whne anythign that could be a gift do well as Buy it nows, or 3 day auctions.

Just a note..be sure to put sizes in your auctions. You have something up that really should have a size, since there is no way to figure it out from the pictures. PM me if you aren't sure what it is : )

Hey, C.Ann, good for you!

DMRick, I'm glad you mentioned the slowness - I had the same problem, though I didn't know the cause.

I have to share this with everybody: I think I mentioned earlier that I had started checking out flea markets and yard sales for stuff to resell. My first effort was a booming success - a men's BBQ apron that I picked up for 25 cents ended last night at 14 DOLLARS!!! Boy, oh boy, I wish it all could go like that! ;)

And C.Ann and DMRick, thanks again for the Disney outlet advice; I got quite a bit of Xmas merchandise to hold 'til November, but I also found some non-seasonal stuff that has done fairly well so far.

Oh, well, time to get ready to go to my "real" job. :D
