The only problem with Media Mail is that the post office processes it dead last. If there is a bunch of first class or priority mail ready to go the media mail sits on the loading dock until there is room in a truck. This happens at every stop along the way. Media Mail to AL or HI or across the country can literally take weeks. I try to make my buyers aware that it will take longer than they expect.

Good point - although everything I have mailed out Media Mail so far has arrived quite quickly..

When I send my auction winners my personal "Congratulations", I offer them other options, but so far no one has taken me up on it.. They really don't like those high shipping charges and would rather wait the extra time..

I just started this Ebay thing not even three days ago and my stuff already has bids of $93.00. The things that are selling good for me are Fisher Price toys, kids video tapes and books. I just can't believe how easy it is to make money this way. I'm so glad I found this site and got inspired by those of ya'll already doing the Ebay thing.

What a great way to get rid of stuff and make money to go to Disney World, woo hoo!!!!!

Uh oh......another "addict"... LOL

Pretty amazing, isn't it? I think it also helps if you have a wide variety of items to sell because when it comes to ebay, EVERYONE is looking for "something" and in the past few days I've had bids on a couple of things I never dreamed ANYONE would be interested in..

Now I look at EVERYTHING through "ebay eyes".. I just wish there were more than "one of me" to get it all listed!! ;)

Congrats on your venture.. Maybe we should start our own DIS meet in Disney World - "DISer's Who Ebayed Their Way To The World"......:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I must say, you guys have inspired me! I have this week off from work (Easter break), so I'm going to TRY and get myself setup to sell on Ebay. I have been thinking about this for a long time, and DH doesn't think I will sell a thing! But, I'll show him (I think!!).

I'm sure I'll be posting with more questions as I go along! Hopefully I'll become a happy Ebay Addict too!!

CINDALA: You go girl. Believe me, I just started this Ebay thing and I'm hooked. Can't believe I'm making so much money off stuff that's been packed away for years. I just wish I had done this a long time ago.

CANN: I like that idea, "people who ebayed their way to the world." Sounds like a book (ha, ha, ha).

Happy selling to everyone.

I just sold around 20 disney pins on ebay and made about $1000.00 in 10 days. Yeeeha. Now if I can just refrain from bidding( yeah right) I will be perfectly set for my spending money at WDW for My trip May 1st!!!!

WOW!!! That's great!! My first listings (7 out of 15) have $126.00 bidded on them and I thought that was good. Are you selling new Disney pins or old ones? I have lots of Disney pins, etc. but have refrained from selling Disney things but I guess the right sum of money would change my mind.

How is everyone else out there ebaying doing?

Donna

Ohhhh, I want to do it too!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc I have about 200 Barbies that I am ready to sell, but I'm so afraid to list them, because I just don't know what prices to ask for them! Any suggestions??

I would LOOOOVE to be able to pay for some of our cruise with ebay moola! ;)

Are they old (as in collectables) or new? Just go on eBay and do a search - see who is selling what right now - and then also go over to the left hand side of the page and click on "completed auctions" to see what others sold them for..;)

DISNEYFAN551: What I did before I listed an item was search ebay for the same item and see what other people are listing them for, which ones are being bidded on, etc. I listed a Hummel for $39.95, others were listed for $150.00 none of the high priced ones had any bids and mine is up to $61.00 with 7 bids (I would have settled for the $39.95 but don't tell anyone, ha, ha, ha). I also grouped things together, like Fisher Price toys, instead of selling each item separately, I list them in groups (like a group of vehicles with little people and rescue heroes vehicles with the people) and they seem to sell better also. I just started this last Thursday night and I can't believe what I'm selling. Also, don't forget to put a counter on your items, it's cool to check and see how many people have looked at your listing so you'll know what people are interested in and looking at. Just do it and good luck!!

I didn't think a trip to WDW was possible this year but with all this ebay stuff selling it looks better and better.

My only regret is all the stuff I threw away over the years that I could have made money on.

If you can, it's best to have another email address that you use ONLY for eBay/Paypal.. That way important emails won't get accidentally deleted along with all the junk on your regular email site..

Come on all - get listing!!!!!

I researched an item that I once had well over a hundred of.. People have been getting anywhere from $20 to $45 a piece for them..

I sold mine in garages sales for 25 cents a piece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...:(

****NOTE TO SELF: Never have a garage sale again!!!

Well, I keep listing stuff daily and the auctions are going pretty well. I've listed my Disney denim vest and denim jackets with Pooh on them. Hopefully, some Disney nut will see them and bid on them. PM me if you want to find my auction. I've looked at the things listed on the Disauctions but it looks like no one is ever bidding on the auctions.

I had some hard to find pins. I really didnt want to let them go but.. I want to go to Disney. Basically I bought all mine from ebay because I dont live anywhere near the parks (Illinois) then you can trade on pinpics.com and get pins that are new or hard to find. For instance I had a Mickey with Soldier pin.. they were HTF for awhile because disney only put out so many and they sold out. Then the war started and my soldier pin went for 22.00( I have seen them sell for twice that amt) the day after they were released again(for the second time) at WDW. I paid 10 bucks for it. I also traded for a HTF haunted mansion pin and sold that one also for $58.00. People that live near the parks could make tons of money on disney pins because the demand is so high and like I said.. most people dont live anywhere near the parks.......... This is how I figure out how much to sell them for........ If I know it is worth a certain amt and I dont want to take the chance of losing it for next to nothing , I will put a reserve on it or start the bid at what I paid for the pin. That way you dont lose money on them. If someone really wants it.. they will bid. If It is a pin that is new and I know people will want it.. I either start it at what I paid for it or low... like $1.00 to encourage bidding. Most popular pins at the moment are tinkerbell and Lilo and Stitch (mostly Stitch).. Hope this helps. Shay

Okay guys, because of all your encouragement, (thanks C.Ann), I spent yesterday getting myself set up on Ebay. Registering to sell was easy, and the whole process of listing an item was also easy. However what definitely wasn't easy was trying to do this on my "%$@*&^" computer!!!!

It took me about 3 hours to list three items because as soon as I would get to step 3 of 5, my computer screen would freeze, each and every time. I tried AOL, I tried Internet Explorer, I restarted, geeze I can't count how many times. I even ran AdAware. Finally by the end of the day, I was able to list a few more items. Very frustrating to say the least, I almost gave up.

It really is any easy process especially on someone else's computer! Now today, I just can't bring myself to check any of the items to see if there are bids on anything yet. Hopefully, there are! Maybe I'll check later!:teeth:

also thanks to C.Ann, I got my butt moving and up and running on Ebay. Started with books--if anyone needs any good reads while counting down to Disney I can suggest the place to start:p

Cindala: I discovered turbolister, which you can read about here:
http://pages.ebay.com/turbo_lister/
It has the advantage of letting you list and save your listings offline; and if the upload fails you haven't lost your work.
It also saves your selling preferences, so you don't have to re-enter them. I'm a novice, but you can see how I put it together by checking under my user id, erinch:
http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=0&userid=erinch&sort=3&rows=25&since=-1&rd=1

The other thing you might want to do is to see if there are any other basic computer maintenance tasks you can do:
empty your temp file, run scandisk, defrag, run windows update.
You can also check your startup configuration to make sure you aren't running any unnecessary programs.
Adaware is terrific, but if you aren't running the new release, you're missing a lot of spyware. Besure to update to the newest version.

I have a "How to Have a Happy Computer" manual on my website which explains how to do all these tasks, step by ste, both using Norton Systemworks and just using windows utilities:

Yesterday and today is 1 cent gallery..which means you can put a photo that shows up in the eBay search, for a penny. This is especially good if you are selling lower end items..it saves you .24 each in listing fees. I only look at aucitons myself, if they have a picture in the search (unless it's something I really want, and only a couple show up).

We've had over a dozen "Buy It Nows" in this 2 batch of listings, which I favor, since that means I got more per, or in the case of fixed auctions, don't have to wait for the sale...and several of those people (once they were "previous" clients, so as to not break any eBay rules) have ordered mulitples, which really is nice...no eBay fees. It's not like Sept-December, but I make a pretty decent earning at eBay..even once I deduct all the horrific fees. I also use it as my web page (since my hubby is oh so slow at getting one up..soon, I hope), and I have a couple of non profit places who sell my clocks for a %, and this gives them a way to show what I have...and then they order direct.

For those that are finding eBay slower on your computers..the 1 cent gallery may be the reason. Lots of us are listing lower end stuff we might not have otherwise, and especially around 7 pm, you might find eBay bogged down (a lot of people post aucitons at 7 PM).

Because of you I took the jump and tried e-bay. Although I started out slow and listed about 7 things, I now have $80 in my account that was not there last week! It really is as easy as you say and now I am attempting to list more stuff and hopefully add to the pot for our August trip! It definitely is worth it to get rid of sruff around the house that is just sitting there collecting dust! I did buy a scale in Sam's club and some packing supplies.......I do need to but some small boxes though.

All in all a fun experience!! I am definitely going to change my account info on Paypal........I need to open an account solely for e-bay!

Thanks for the PUSH!!!!
