You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

bafmrf,
I don't know exactly the rules, but personally I would wait the 10 days. What would you do if you listed the item and then the NPB decided to pay??

Anyway ...
When do you think I should start listing back to school clothes? I was thinking the beginning of August but I will be at Disney Aug. 7 - 16 and then Universal Aug. 16 - 20. So, would listing it mid July be too early or should I wait until I get back in mid/late Aug?

Second chance offers can be offered before 10 days. I had a lady write to me last week 3 days after the auction ended and told me that she had made a mistake when bidding and couldn't follow through, so I made a second chance offer to the next bidder. I don't think that NPB reports and second chance offers have anything to do with each other.

Once you file a NPB alert you are no longer obligated to hold the item for the person (it says so right on the alert notice). So once you file the NPB alert you are free to do a second chance offer.

We return to school Aug 9th, but lots of school kids return as late as September and Labor day. I did a search of school uniforms and they're selling pretty well. You might want to try them now.

Lots of BTS auctions for fall/winter are doing really well. I was going to wait until August 1, but now hope to get some back to school items up this weekend.

Inever do well with clothes (I think just the amount of kids clothes are just glutted !)

I'm not sure if I want to try it again.

I have some Mudd jeans (I think size 12--and some other stuff. )
I have about 4 pairs of jeans, that are too mature for my daughter.

One is Mudd (and I can't remember what the other ones are). How much would you start them off?

I did really well on my daughters' back to school stuff last year. I would try again. I put everything in lots and they did well.

You'll get different opinions on this, but I start out my lots at $1.99 to get people interested. They all went for way more than that. Actually, they went for way more than I expected. But, I am willing to let the stuff go at $1.99, so you need to think about that. I figure it is stuff just sitting around so any money I get is better than nothing.

I didn't list my daughters jeans last night. I was going to but I did a search on completed auctions and it didn't seem the lots did so well yet. I may put them up on Thursday or next Sunday.

I have a question.... I bought some books a couple of weeks ago that I thought would do well on eBay. Now, I notice that they have a mildew type smell. Is there any way to get rid of the smell? Some of them are nice textbooks that could make some money on eBay. Thanks!

I finally today signed up for an Andale account just for counters (Free) . It's nice being able to personalize the counters, not just the two that ebay has. I chose the flower pots one. :flower1: Also it showed a grid with all the hits on my auctions - I was surprised at how many hits some of my auctions got.

I have a question. Last night my husband purchased an item through Buy It Now. When he purchased the item the shipping was listed at $17, last night when I received an email from the seller and from Ebay it said shipping was $17, but I just received an email from the seller telling me that the cost of shipping is now $22.50. That is $5.50 more than originally thought, and doesn't make sense to me. Can a seller change the amount for shipping? I mean, there was nothing said about shipping prices varying, and it isn't like I live outside of the continental United States or anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Dana

Did it say anywhere in the auction that insurance was mandatory?? Maybe that includes the insurance price?

I don't think they can just change the price of shipping. Any time shipping was more than what I have listed, I just chalked it up as a learning experience for myself as a seller and paid the difference myself.

In case you were wondering exactly how much all those ebay and paypal fees add up to, I made a chart for myself, and thought I'd share it here. I started at $8.00 because I don't have many auctions for less than that.

princess:

It didn't come out as nice and neat as it looked like in the window.

The first column is item cost.

The second column is total ebay fees (insertion and final value)

The third column is paypal fees

The fourth column is ebay+paypal fees added together.

Also, I guess this only works for fixed value items, which I've been using exclusively lately. I've been selling magazine subscriptions and fixed value with immediate payment seems to work out the best (so far).

Sorcha:

WE have figured out that its about a 6% take on any fees.

We have higher ticket items, so it gets challenging. Lately all our buyers have been paying money order, so that helps a lot. (With $400 laptops, the paypal fee is KILLING US!)

Scary thing is that is before Insurance... the insurance is another $2.00 on top of that. I have emailed the seller to find out what is going on and why he increased the price, but I would really like to cancel the entire thing. His increase in the shipping charges really makes me uncomfortable dealing with him. Is there a way to cancel the transaction now that the listing has ended?

Dana

If the items stated shipping is $17 and then they invoice you for $22.50, I believe that would constitute a change in terms which again I believe is against ebay rules. I would tell the seller that you bid on the item with shipping of $17 and you will not pay the additional amount.

I would give him a chance to explain. I know that I spend a lot of time when I send invoices to make sure I am including the right price for shipping. When you have several auctions ending and you are sending out multiple invoices, sometimes it is hard to keep things straight. Let him explain whether or not it was just a mistake before canceling the transaction.

Turbo Lister question.

I just installed TL (again, because we rebuilt our PC). whne I go to the Shipping Costs screen there are slots for three fixed shipping costs. Previously you could only choose one option when creating a listing. Does anyone know if this new format gives the buyer the ability to view their shipping options? That would be nice, because then the buyer could decide how much/howfast they want their item.

Yes, it allows them to choose their choice of shipping options, if you give them options to choose.
