My best friend is throwing me a surprise party, (yes, I know about it, the time and theme and such is the surprise part, lol) Anyway, I have to groups of friends. Group 1. Katie (party thrower), Emma, Catherine, Izzy and Natalie.
You then have group 2. Alan, Jeff, Andy, Lyndsay, Sam, Sawyer and Nick.
Now, many members of group one don't like members of group two, that's fine, but please, just get along for my birthday. The problem is, there is quite a bit of drama in group two. They're just all mad at each other the majority of the time! Katie doesn't want to invite some of them at all, but I'd feel bad. So she wants to tell them the party ends earlier than it does, and have the members of group one stay longer. But frankly, when we all get along, group two is a lot more fun. I thought a better idea was to have group one just stay the night, and say that only so many could spend the night. What do you think?

That's why I'm here. I hate the TB. Anyway..
I've been in this spot before.. I'm the friend that hates my friend Branwen's friends. Her birthday was on the 9th of this month. She just had two parties and let the two groups sort of help pick what they wanted to go do. I've known her for a long time so we had a sleepover with another girl we both get along with and it was an awesome time. Her other friends are the drama ones. They're always fighting about boys and who's sleeping with who (not kidding). She just went midnight bowling with them. I don't know how bad the not getting along situation with your friends is, but I think if she would have had both groups there, I would have gotten annoyed with them and walked home. They're also very dark.. like gothic types and they've called me "that weird country girl" more than once, so it's a personality clash, too.
I wouldn't have some friends stay the night and some leave because if someone got upset they might come after you or something. high school stuff

Just wanted to thank everyone for "standing up" for the OP- she's my daughter. I like her posting here, that way I know who she's talking to etc. Plus, over here you can get Dan Murphy's advice!

Hey Twinkles....I'm sorry that you have to feel caught between two groups of friends on your birthday. Will the kids in Group 2 feel bad, thus making you feel bad, if they find out Group 1 is staying the night but for whatever reason they're not allowed to stay? You should do whatever feels right for you. After all, it is your birthday.

Have you considered having two separate parties? You could have the surprise one with group 1 and whomever the host wants to invite and then you could do something special at another time with group 2.

As for you, coolmom99, why did you even bother posting on this thread? Seems unnecessary and downright uncalled for to me.

Tell both groups that you want to have fun - it's YOUR birthday. I wouldn't tell one group that the party ends earlier than it does - that'll backfire on you. Letting one group sleepover - won't that look like favoritism? They'll probably break into their groups anyway, and if not, maybe they'll all have fun for your sake!

As to where to post - you are always welcome here! I have a teenager, so it gives me perspective to read what other teens are experiencing!

Happy birthday Twinkles! My friend had a birthday party and she had a few of the people stay over night (I was not one of them). None of us cared. I say go for whatever makes you happy, it's your birthday.

And "coolmom", if you don't like what someone says, ignore it. Most of us have some type of post that we don't like and guess what... WE IGNORE IT!!! Leave Twinkles as well as everyone else that posts here alone (including the teens, which I am one). This goes back to the rule that we all learned in like kindergarten..."If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

another teen here...its your b-day...they will break into their own groups at your party and if they decide to fight ask them to stop..and if you have to get your parents involved..you should...i had that problem..and my mom stepped in for a minute and everything turned out good.

coolmom-lay off ok! the TB is not the greatest place to ask for ideas and opinions....and did you ever think that she wanted some ideas from people who may have been through this as in...i dunno...adults and other teens who have some brain to come here at times!?!?
