I know that most of you are not interested in the World Cup, and don't follow football (soccer). So I want to let you know that you should all be really proud of the US football team. They did you proud! :thumbsup2 They just playing a really difficult match against Italy. There were 3 sendings off, 2 for the US and the US had a goal disallowed. This was always going to be a difficult match for the US, but when they went a man down, it appeared that they were going to lose! But the US guys played with their hearts and souls and put everything they had into holding onto the draw that they had. I would think that the US team has just got a bunch of new fans! They rock! :yay:

Thanks for the nice post, catherine. Soccer is catching on here in the USA. More and more kids are playing and we adults are learning about the game from our kids. A lot of us really are enjoying following the World Cup!

They played a great game. :cheer2: :cheer2: That second red card sendoff was pretty questionable to be sure, and one of our commentators over here, said on several occasions, that this should be the last World Cup game this ref officiates.

My 9YO was mesmerized by the entire match.

Thanks for the nice post Catherine

Thank you Catherine. I missed most of the second half because I was at a birthday party but I kept sneaking in to catch a peak at the game that my cousin (huge football fan) so nicely had on for those of us that were interested. It was great seeing them do so well against Italy.

My son plays soccer, so I am somewhat partial to the game.

I know I'll take a lot of flack, but IMO, soccer players are much more athletic and in shape than football players are. I mean overall, not one particular athlete against the other because I'm sure there are exceptions. I just don't get why Americans are so much more fascinated with football, Steelers aside of course. :teeth:

Thanks for letting us know how well Team USA did. Kudos to them all. :cheer2:

I am very proud and will admit that I expected them to lose. Were it not for the ref (how is it that ref involved in a bribery scandal gets to officiate in the World Cup??) they might well have won this one.

I was glued to the match. Go USA. And thanks for the compliment! :thumbsup2

What a nice post! I don't know anything about soccer, but I do know that they did well today. Thanks for all the nice words.

Match surpassed my expectations. Good job Team USA. I think USA's group is the "group of death" instead of Argentina's.

England is playing well. Want to see more robot dances.

Thanks

As soccer is DD's only interest now in sports .We ducked into a Dave & Busters to eat and catch the game .They did play very well and didn't deserve either RED card.

Now Italy's was blatent right in front of the ref but sorry to say they are not going to give the Americans a break or chance .Our Bus is the only one not marked for security reasons.

Sports and politics should never come together but that just how it is.

On a side note I got hollard at for wearing all my Beckem Dragon stuff to a coaches meeting the other day :lmao:

Yup, DH is a certified soccer referee and he also said that there's no way that second US goal should have been disallowed. Yes, the player (I can't remember who) was in an onside position, but if he wasn't in the play, it shouldn't be an offside call. I don't know, but I would have liked to see that goal count.

Thanks :) My bil is very interested. He told me earlier usa is no good. :lmao:

We love soccer at our house, and I am so sorry to have missed today's game! I saw the Czech game the other day, and I was heartbroken at how our guys fared.

Give us some time. The world doesn't expect much out of US Soccer, and we will eventually win the World Cup!

We've been watching lots of the World Cup at my house and I'm finding soccer not quite as boring as I originally thought :teeth: It was a good game today - Go USA! :teeth: As an aside some of those Italian players were HOT! :teeth: Must watch more Italy matches :teeth:
