"You Guys Are Cast Members... Right?" - A December 2011 TR

Hey, I'm all caught up now! Woohoo! :cheer2:

I'm glad! I understand getting behind on TRs, I always seem to find myself behind on yours, too. :sad2:

I agree... in the name of everything classic in the entire world, I love Small World. As Stacey would say, it's CA-LASS-IC. Sigh. I really hate not being at Disney. ugh.

I completely agree. OH, and I meant to tell you! Your McLovin TR was fresh in my mind when I rode small world, so I remembered to say hi to Melissa. :thumbsup2 Really though, why aren't we in Disney? This is ridiculous.

Yay for finally getting to go on the Pooh ride! Do you know about Mr. Toad handing over the deed? I finally spotted it on our last trip.

Yes! I thought that was so awesome. I didn't know exactly where to look though, so I was lucky that I had a CM sitting next to me to point it out!

So jealous you got pixie dusted, that is so awesome! pixiedust:

It was so cute. You should definitely do it next time!

OMG I miss that version of the must dos. I used to say "TRIPLE. MOUNTAIN. WHAMMY!" all the time. The Splash wait was 5 minutes a lot during our trip (which was right before yours if you remember) even when it wasn't cold. I guess people just don't wanna chance being soaked and having the wind kick up, which happened quite a few times.

IT'S ALL WHAM! I do remember, you left literally the day I got there. Sad! :( Yeah, you're probably right about that!

It sounds like you had a lot of fun on the Astro Orbiter... can you believe I've never been on that ride? It's the only attraction at the Magic Kingdom that I haven't done besides Tom Sawyer Island.

Yeah, you know, I think that ride is overlooked a lot. I even heard someone say they didn't realize it was a ride, they thought it was just part of the Tomorrowland theme! :rotfl: You should do it next time! It goes a lot higher and a LOT faster than Dumbo or the Magic Carpets, so it's a little more 'thrilling.'

Ahhhh I can totally smell that gingerbread at the Beach Club right now. OK now I am getting really sad WHY AM I NOT AT DISNEY. Oh man.

Omg, isn't it heavenly?! :cloud9: I want to be there right now so badly. Darn real life.

BEACHES AND CREAM!!! Oh my do I love it there. And I have the same pen as you and mine is broken as well! I have been wanting to get the Kitchen Sink for like, almost 10 years now, but I'm never with a big enough group.

Isn't that the cutest pen? My park bag broke it, haha. OMG you should definitely get the Kitchen Sink if you're ever there with a big enough group. (cough-girlsofthedis-cough.) :lmao:

HAHAHAHA I *always* read "I KNOW" in Monica's voice. and I say it that way myself too. I mean, how could I not? I also do Ross' depressing "hi".

Hahaha! I knew you would understand. "hi." OH ROSS. :lovestruc

It sounds like you had such a great first day! I can't wait to read about the rest of your trip. :yay:

We really did. Ahhh DISNEY. I'm glad you're all caught up!

Isn't that awesome that you can see Wishes from that area too? One time we were all watching Illuminations from the African Outpost area, and we were able to watch both Wishes and Illuminations at the same time :thumbsup2.

That's too funny that you pointed out the moon. I'm ALWAYS doing that to Wingnut, like "look at that beautiful sky!" "check out that cloud!". He's never THAT impressed. :sad2:

World of Disney is SO overwhelming, I truly can only be in there in random off-times (like late morning) when it isn't packed. Even when it's empty, I think it's just crowded-feeling.

Oh, and is it strange that I think it's slightly funny that the two beds share a headboard in your room? It just looks weird to me!

It really is amazing! The best part was that none of us were really in the mindset that we MIGHT get to see the fireworks, so seeing them on either side of us was just awesome! How cool that you saw Wishes from Epcot?! I'm gonna have to keep that in mind!

Hahaha I understand that. You'd think everyone would be as thrilled! Sadly, that is not the case. :sad2: Hahaha.

I agree. It's just too much, I think. I mean I love the fact that they carry so many products, but I think everything is too close together so everyone always ends up crowding around certain areas.

Haha! No, it's not strange. I think it's a little odd, too! Apparently all the All Star rooms look like that after being refurbished. When I stayed at All Star Movies, my room looked like this:

SDC11058.jpg

(Okay, that may not be the best picture because I only took a picture of one bed... BUT if you look closely you can see a clear end to the headboard, haha. So you can see, it was more normal before the reburshment! :rotfl:)

Great 1st day! Y'all definitely got a lot accomplished! :thumbsup2

I love both the Christmas store & World of Disney at DTD. I'm not a big fan of DTD but if we do go, those are the 2 stores I have to go into.

Can't wait to see what adventures y'all had next!

I know, I was so proud of us. It was an awesome day!

I agree! I'm really not the biggest fan of DTD, myself. The only reason I really didn't want to go into the Christmas store was because I knew I'd see something I couldn't live without and then end up spending WAY too much money!

Day 2 was a great one, as well! I'm excited to share it with yall!

Okay, I'm totally going to catch up! (even though I had to do the thing where I open up every single update I missed in new tabs to try and remember everything and end up with 50 zillion tabs. And I had to laugh at your 'only' updating once a week - if I could manage that, I'd be thrilled! :lmao: Instead I will continue to lose to a snail in speed of updating races).

Hahaha, I can just picture this because I've been there too. It's easy to fall behind on subscriptions around here! Hahah, yeah. Well to be honest, I don't have all that much going on in life at this current moment, so that's why I'm able to update more frequently. I can only imagine how busy you are!

1) McDonald's is totally nutritious. They have salads, right? Salads = healthy. Nutritious!! That ToT billboard has been there forever and I hope they never take it away - it's practically a park icon!!

Of course. How could I forget about the salads? I agree, I love that little billboard. That one, the one for Mission: SPACE, and the one for 'it's tough to be a bug' are the ones I seem to see no matter where I'm going at Disney!

And you are incredibly lucky to have gotten to see the very photogenic orange monorail. Orange/blue is one of my fave color combos for pictures and brown monorail/dirty white GFlo monorail station cover just can't beat orange monorail/bright blue sky. Even silver is better! Ferry boats are an excellent means of transportation - my boyfriend converted me in our past trip even though we BOTH swore that we would never ride a not-monorail out of Magic Kingdom.

I agree! I love the colorful monorails and I feel like the ones I see the most frequently are silver and gold. We even saw the peach one this time, too! :woohoo: I enjoyed the ferry too! It was cool to see the Wilderness Lodge, and the view of the castle from the water was just spectacular!

2) I love the word 'queue'. Second only to the German word for line, 'warteschlange' (or waiting snake). Oh those wacky Germans and their compound words!! Though we always choose the snake with less waiting because we are impatient and thus have never seen the new queue for Haunted Mansion.

Hahaha, I love it too. I just find it funny and slightly confusing. THOSE GERMANS. Next time you should go through the interactive snake (his name is Q, by the way) and play! We had to rush through it a little bit, but it was still fun to see.

Mary Blair is a genius and I wish they'd done more movies directly from her concept art because SO PRETTY (also Cinderella's dress is weird and really anachronistic and I just want to fix it especially after drooling over the historic Disney princess series for months. And I like her 'casual' outfit better; I like most of the casual outfits better, especially Ariel's with the navy skirt? I would TOTALLY line up to meet navy-skirt Ariel, but I have weird priorities).

I agree! I'm honored to share a birthday with her. :goodvibes I know exactly what you mean! Ariel's casual outfit is so cute! I love her big blue bow. I'd love to meet her wearing that outfit! After all, she was wearing that during the 'Kiss the Girl' scene!

3) Gingerbread carousels are some of my favorite things EVER because what can beat the combination of gingerbread and fancy horses? Nothing! Beach Club is awesome (moreso because of Muppets Christmas Carol, my number one holiday movie ever. I may or may not listen to the soundtrack on a continuous loop throughout November or December).

Did you get to go see it on your trip? It really was incredible. I LOVE Muppets Christmas Carol. It's the best version of that story, ever, hands down. We're Marley and Marley, WOOOOOOOOO! (Ahem, basically I know what you mean about playing the soundtrack all the time.)

Beaches and Cream is too cute (even though I'm not a big ~fancy~ ice cream fan, besides the dulche de leche in Mexico. YUM). How nice to be mistaken for CMs! I don't think I could handle working in the parks themselves, day-to-day, but behind the scenes work would be such a killer job (plus I wouldn't get tired (is that a phenomenon? (haha, triple nested parenthesis, I win!)) of the parks from being there too much/interacting with horrible people).

I know what you mean. I honestly would like to work at one of the resorts or something, but I wouldn't want to work in the parks, unless it was my least favorite park. Then it would still be really special to go to the parks on days off, because it wouldn't be like going to work.

4) We were at DTD the day after you! And you got a purple mug?? I'm so jealous, they didn't have that option at Port Orleans. Truth be told, I kind of find Stacey a little annoying too because it's on continuous loop. There's nothing else you can put on that channel? Someone else to talk?? Anything? (Unless she isn't, in which case our TV was broken so sorry Stacey!)

I know! I have to wonder if we were ever anywhere at the same time. That would be so cool. Yeah, for whatever reason, All Star Sports was the resort they used to test out that new drink system. The mugs have these chips in them that keep track of when you're using them. It was actually pretty cool! I love my purple one, it's so cute.

I love your fancy Mickey towel animal, so much classier than the normal one! :groom:

Hahaha, yes, he was so fancy. You're right, it does look like he's wearing a little bow tie! Aww.

Fireworks outside of Beach Club very magical! I remember sitting on the beach watching Lilo and Stitch when Illuminations started one night :cloud9:

I love how excited you were over the moon! So adorable!

I am sorry about your bad shopping experience! DTD can be a shopper's worst nightmare sometimes :headache:

:headache: for lights on the bus I love seeing the WDW property all lit up and the lights would be annoying and interfere with that!

I love the purple color you got! I haven't seen that one before!

How could someone not like Stacey?! Okay scratch that for non DISers she could come across as a bit annoying

Yay for a great first day!!!

I loved it! It was so perfect. Aw I bet that was awesome! You saying that makes me want to stay there even more, seriously!

Aw thanks! Hahah it was just so cool looking! I'd never seen one shaped quite like it before!

Aw, it's ok. I knew what I was getting myself into when I went in there! The good news is that I was able to get everything on my list (and then some) at other stores throughout the trip! :thumbsup2

Right? It was definitely odd. The only thing I could see when I looked at the window was me and the rest of the people on the bus. Not the view I was looking for!

I love the purple one too! The other choices were orange and green. It was funny because Sports is the resort they used to test the new system, and all the mugs had chips in them that kept track of the dates you were staying. It was actually kinda cool! But I guess that's why the mug colors were different!

Hahah, I know. I guess non-Disers think she's slightly annoying? :confused3

Yay! Thanks again for reading, I always love your comments!

I love that you can see Illuminations and Wishes from the same place sometimes! Sometimes when Epcot closes, if we take a while to walk to our car, we'll see Wishes on our walk over, I love it! Ahhh, I love Disney World! :lovestruc

WoD is fun, but it is overwhelming, my DH and I always get separated in there! Lately, instead of going off on his own like he used to do, he just trails me like a puppy so we don't get separated anymore! :rotfl:

Jealous that you got a purple mug. Purple is my favorite color!

Glad you got to watch some Stacey before the rest of the group returned!

when I was there, we watched Wishes at 8 and as we drove out and past Epcot we saw Illuminations!

It is definitely overwhelming! It's a good idea to stay together in there! Or else who knows if you'll ever get out?! Hahaha.

I love my purple mug! Oddly enough though, my favorite color is pink, and I know that all of the other resorts have the pink mugs! Hahaha oh well.

I was very glad too. I couldn't NOT watch! :rotfl:

That's awesome! :goodvibes

I love the fact that you had a purple mug! I want one soooo bad. I have so many pink and blue ones!

No worries about not knowing your room number. I think you're entitled after having such a busy day in WDW. :lmao:

Okay, don't we all say things in Friends voices? ;)

I love my purple mug! It's so cute. The funny thing is that I had been planning to get a pink one because I'd forgotten that Sports would have different colors! Hahah oh well.

I know! I'm glad I realized it ON the bus instead of just wandering into some random area of the resort. :rotfl:

Well, if we all don't, then we all should. I also tend to do the Chandler, "could Disney World BE any more awesome?" and the Phoebe, "OH no." HAHAHA best show ever. (Yes, I do realize that Chandler never said THAT... but it was relevant.)

That is too funny that you didn't even know your room number! :rotfl2:

I hate it when stores are so warm inside! I have to get out too. I hope you fopund your photo album, did you try a resort gift shop?

Ah yes, I was pretty much exhausted by this point. Sally caught up with us at the store and then Kristen and Ryck wandered away so Sally and I just sat outside in the amphitheater area and had a lovely conversation. For the life of me I can't remember what it was about. School maybe? Oddly enough, it wasn't Disney related at all which is out of the norm for me. When I'm at Disney, I kinda have a tendency to pretend that the outside world doesn't exist.

I.CAN.NOT.STAND.STACEY!!!!!! she's so annoying. and you can take that to the bank :)Kryssa was so much better! I miss her.

I know! Hahaha we were all running on like no sleep so for some reason needing to know our room number didn't seem to occur to us! I'm glad I remembered on the bus, or who knows how long I would have wandered around the resort?! :rotfl:

Yeah, it makes the shopping experience less than enjoyable. Luckily I was able to find it at Mouse Gear! But you know, I don't think the resort gift shop had it! It was odd how hard it was to come by!

Honestly, I'm surprised we lasted that long. Sally's the only one who'd really slept the night before! ADRENALINE!!! Ew, school. Who needs it? Not me, apparently...:rolleyes1 I like to pretend the outside world doesn't exist on a daily basis, so there's that.

AMANDA. Did you miss that whole part where I said that he/she SHALL REMAIN NAMELESS? I was trying to protect you. Now everyone hates you. You did it to yourself. LIVE WITH IT. And please, you think I know who Kryssa is? IT'S ALL STACEY. BORN TO ROCK, BABY.

Also, good job! I didn't even have to tell you I updated! You're getting good at this dis thing! :yay:

On the mugs - besides purple, what were the other colors available?

Fireworks. :thumbsup2

The smell of Ghirardelli. :goodvibes

Lights on on the bus. (Thumbs down, but I don't think there is one of those.)

I like to watch Stacy TV because it means I am in Disney World, but I like it a little less after I heard an interview with her on a podcast. She didn't have any kind of Disney love and was just chosen as an actress to fill a part. She didn't even know about half the things she was talking about in her filming, and that bothered me a little. I wish they would have picked someone who had a real knowledge of and love for Disney to do that. I'm sure they could have found a lot of people who wouldn't have had to do research on the things they were talking about. After hearing that, it just dulled my love for Stacy TV a little. Of course, I still turn it on as soon as we get there just as a symbol that we have arrived. ;)

They had purple, orange, and green! I found this picture of them online somewhere (I just searched all star sports refillable mugs and clicked pictures).

:)

Oddly enough, I've never even had anything from the Ghirardelli store. I just love the smell!

I agree about Stacey. It is disappointing, for sure. I know so many people (on the boards) who would love to have her job and actually love Disney and know their stuff!
I can't help but love her videos though, all the funny one liners and all that, and the fact that you can never turn on a tv at Disney without being greeted by her! Hahaha.

I completely agree. OH, and I meant to tell you! Your McLovin TR was fresh in my mind when I rode small world, so I remembered to say hi to Melissa.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA :rotfl: omg I can not even tell you how funny this is to me. That is so hilarious and awesome.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA :rotfl: omg I can not even tell you how funny this is to me. That is so hilarious and awesome.

She was very happy to see me, thankfully! It's funny because Amanda and Kristen have a younger sister named Melissa, and they were probably like... um ok?

I'm joining in a little late but I'm loving your TR so far cuz you have the exact same sense of humor as me! Yay! It's not weird that I'm living vicariously through you and your TR is it?...:rolleyes1

HI! Don't worry, you aren't too late! Thanks! Hahaha are you serious? That's awesome! Listen, it's really not weird at all. I do it all the time. To be honest I'm kinda living vicariously through myself (because THAT makes sense)! I MISS DISNEY. Anyways. Thanks for being here and commenting! I really appreciate it. Feel free to comment any time you want and I hope you continue to enjoy! :goodvibes

NO WAY ORANGE??? I missed the orange mug?! Why put all the cool colors in All Star Sports?? I wonder if it would work to buy a mug there and then use it elsewhere? But I guess they have special mugs there because of the RFID chip and people would know. Rats!

Hahaha, busy. For my grad school funding, we have to take an Ethics of Scientists class and we now have to have ~lab notebooks~ (just in case we're ever caught up in a sticky legal situation) and my productivity has SKYROCKETED ever since I've needed to do a daily record of my work. It's just so more fun to get lost on the Internet instead of running Data File 48912 (now I usually do the two concurrently, best of both worlds)!!

I agree! I'm honored to share a birthday with her. I know exactly what you mean! Ariel's casual outfit is so cute! I love her big blue bow. I'd love to meet her wearing that outfit! After all, she was wearing that during the 'Kiss the Girl' scene!

I feel like that costume is the one that I'm most likely to try to attempt for a MNSSHP sometime down the road. That or Wendy (because she's the best). It's just so easy (I torture myself by following some of the AMAZING Disney costume sewers on flickr. Why can't I be that awesome??)

No :( It is saved on my DVR for all eternity!!! (or until we get a new DVR) Pretty much the only palatable version of Dickens around (minus the part in Little Women but THAT'S IT. Oh, and Wishbone too. BUT THAT'S REALLY IT).

I know what you mean. I honestly would like to work at one of the resorts or something, but I wouldn't want to work in the parks, unless it was my least favorite park. Then it would still be really special to go to the parks on days off, because it wouldn't be like going to work.

(one more thing, because I'm too impatient to let everything reload - I'm on highspeed internet, DisBoards, let me be fast) - YES I AGREE. I remember reading posts from people who worked in the park and spent tons of free time there and then were like 'how do I get the ~magic~ back?' A: You don't. Spend less time there, really, it'll be okay. I would love to work in one of the science-y parts (like Living with the Land, best office everrr) or, like, IT. All the Disney benefits, none of the cranky guests!

Okay so, remember how in my TR I was like, hey, 5 minutes I'll be in your TR, commenting away? Well I kind of lied since it's been more like an hour or so. BUT, to be fair, I ended up running to get lunch, and then ate said lunch, got distracted by work (I call this pulling a SQUIRREL!, which I totally got from a CM during our trip, and will totally bring that up in my TR, hahaha), aaaand now I'm back.

Oh that and the DIS has been loading SO SLOW this morning/afternoon, so I'll leave it loading while I read something else and then maybe 10 minutes later it actually loads the page. :headache:

OKAY SO! Onto commenting. I'm just going to focus on your latest post, with a comment or two from previous posts, because otherwise this comment will never end. But I swear I'll be more up on commenting on future posts, because that's how I roll. :cool2:

Number one. OH EM GEE as soon as I saw ice cream and dream resort, I KNEW you were going to Beach Club and hitting up Beaches and Cream!! This was my first stay at Beach Club and I'm not even joking, I will never stay at another resort ever again. It was UNREAL. You HAVE to stay there when you can! Maybe see if you can rent DVC points or something! It's so so amazing.

Beaches and Cream is heaven.

I love when people have ridiculous laughs. It always gets me going!

Not gonna lie, I would've been bummed if I had just been kind of ditched in the middle of DTD. :sad1: But you totally just made the most of it by going to the best Disney store around, WoD!

The only problem with that place is how crazy busy it can get, and people can be very unpleasant! :headache: I would've peaced out of there, too. I think Matt and I did that a couple of times during our trip; we got overwhelmed by a crowd in a store and just booked it out.

That's so funny about forgetting your room number. Matt forgot ours when he called housekeeping about getting another pillow. He told them it was 457, and after he got off I said, "Um, I'm pretty sure we're in 459." He called back and told them he had the wrong room number. :lmao:

YES on the water. We drank soooo much of it while we were there because I swear I think I sweated out like 80 pounds from the sun/heat! AND I'm jealous of your cup! If I'd seen a green one that would've been my choice. Green's my favorite color, but I settled for a light blue.

I don't care if you love or hate Stacey, BUT she is just part of the Disney experience and is very necessary to watch! I think she's cheesy as all get out but we watched her at least 10 times during our trip... even just for background noise while we were getting ready or hanging out in our room. And yes, we're both guilty of constantly quoting Stacey, even the ones that are beyond ridiculous.

Can't wait for your next day's post!! :yay:
