Okay, now don't get carried away with that where we go, part. ;)

I was going to do the whole WDW free dining thing, and take the kids, but basically decided to not do it for various reasons. So the day after I cancel the trip in my head (seeing as reservations were never made :lmao: ) DH suggests that he and I should go somewhere by ourselves for a few days. MIL is retiring in a few months and what else is she going to do with all that free time but watch the grandkids, right? (Actually she is such a doll, that is really one of the reasons she is retiring--she wants to have more time for them!)

At any rate, we are at a total loss on where to go. As a family, we are going to Yellowstone in the fall. We were just at WDW in Feb and will be going back either Dec 07 or Feb 08. Whichever time we do not go to WDW, DH and I will be going on a cruise for our 15th anniversary. So, it doesnt' have to be a big trip. We are open to driving or flying as long as the drive is within a day of Minneapolis. :moped: So, Chicago would work, but not much farther. We are open to season too.

So, where do you think. We have tossed around the North Shore, Chicago, Las Vegas and Disney. Give me some ideas and the whys and wherefores. Anywhere from three to five days in length, under say $3000.

I know we have a bunch of trip planners on here, so have at it and give me your best shot. Hey, maybe I will send the winner a souveneir from the destination.......... :hippie:

I would love to spend a long weekend at an all-inclusive, couples only resort tropical with DH - especially during the winter in Minnesota.

an all inclusive in Mexico - I am paying right around 3k for an all inclusive including airfare, transfers and taxes. I am using Apple Vacations out of Philadelphia. I have also used Funjet which I believe has packages from MN.

Also, 3K is doable for Vegas if you find some specials.

I don't think that there's any tropical resorts in Minnesota! :teeth: ;)

But I agree that tropical sounds good!

Since you're already doing Yellowstone (that was going to be my suggestion -- btw, be sure to spend some time in Jackson Hole!), maybe Las Vegas?

I spend at least two weeks a year there and consider it my second home. Since you already did WDW and you will be doing the "nature thing" at Yellowstone, how about some fun and excitement in Vegas?

And you can definitely stay within your budget there. I think $3000 would get you there by plane, put you in a pretty nice hotel on the Strip (I've heard Monte Carlo has some good deals -- or if you're not particular, try bidding on a 4 or 5 star on the Strip on Priceline), and get you some pretty good food for 5 nights!

If not there, what about the east coast? Being from Hawaii, I am totally falling in love with New England! I especially liked Maine. You could go to Acadia National Park, do some shopping in Freeport, and even drive to some of the nearby states.

Or what about Washington DC or New York?

(I am not making this easy, am I?)

What about the Kohler resort in Wisconsin? Definitely a close drive for you. Or maybe a beach in FL? Marco Island, something relaxing?
