You Flew All The Way Here With PIXIE DUST?! UD 8/22: Final Thoughts :)

Day 3 Part 3--Meg's FAVORITE MGM Attraction, Dinner, and ToT X2

We veered off towards...

Meg's Favorite MGM Attraction!

Which is quite possibly my favorite attraction in WDW. Next to Expedition: Everest, ToT, and Splash Mountain. And Figment. But I digress.

As you mayyyy recall, we've seen all the 3D movies so far.

Except one.

Muppet*Vision 3D.

Yes! You have guessed it! This is Meg's Favorite MGM Attraction!

Tahhhh-daaaa! :dance3:

I adore Muppet*Vision. Ah-dore it. Love it to pieces. 80's outfits in the background, corny gags, "cheap 3D tricks", and all. It's just so...loveable!

We watched (most of) the pre-show (which is my favorite pre-show in WDW).

Settled into the comfy, comfy seats.

Ahh, happiness in the form of Muppets :lovestruc

After narrowly escaping the Swedish Chef's antics (and the theater blowing up!), we wandered around before our dinner ADR's.

On the Streets of America, we ran into these guys:

(Sorry the first pic is dark; not sure what was up with the camera)

It was time for our ADR's.

We had booked the Fantasmic! Dinner Package. We had done this our previous ('03) trip, and had dined at the Hollywood & Vine (which we found mediocre).

We decided on Mama Melrose's.

YUM!

First of all:

You get a LOT of food! Each person (each PERSON!) gets an appetizer, entree, and dessert.

This is a LOT of food.

And you know how Italians LOVE to eat, so the portions are large, too.

Needless to say, we were stuffed.

But the food was pretty darn good :thumbsup2

I recommend it!

Aly and I at the restaurant:

disney2008207-1.jpg

Mama Melrose's is pretty cool and funky inside. Think...Hollywood meets Italian Vineyard.

Stuffed, there was only one thing to do.

Ride ToT.

Yes, on full stomachs.

Are we crazy?

Only slightly ;)

It was very, very fun at night.

Our first time around (10 minute wait), a very nervous woman (and her family) were in the elevator with us. The elevator arrives, the first row of people start to go in...

And alarm bells go off.

We're not allowed on the elevator

The woman got even more nervous. "This is part of the ride, right? They're just trying to pysche us out? Right? Right?"

Turns out that the previous elevator stopped due to an injury (or something).

We got back on the elevator in a few minutes.

The poor woman was even more nervous now.

She was hilarious. "Oh god, oh god, oh god...are we gonna drop now? Are we gonna drop now? ARE WE GONNA DROP NOOOOOOOOOOW OHMYGOD!"

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We left a very fun ride on a haunted elevator, looked at each other, and went for another go.

10 minutes :woohoo:

It was almost time for Fantasmic!

But it had been raining all day. They kept making announcements that it might be cancelled due to inclement weather.

Darn that Faye! :headache:

It was our last night.

Fantasmic! is our favorite WDW night-show.

Would we get rained out?

Stay tuned!

Stuffed, there was only one thing to do.

Ride ToT.

Yes, on full stomachs.

Blech!

We're big muppet fans here!

In fact, Billy is really into watching Muppets Take Manhattan right now.
He keeps playing Kermit and Miss Piggy's wedding scene over and over and over. In several different languages!

Oh, I hope you got to see Fantasmic!

Kathy

Ohh, isn't he the cutest?

We've been discussing Muppet Treasure Island on the Teen Boards lately...:rolleyes1

But how funny, that he watches it in multiple languages!

Fabulous update! But now I'm extra anxious to see if you got to see Fantasmic! I sure hope so.

Lucky duck; you're staying at AKL!
Lol I'm very excited. It is going to be our first time at a deluxe and although AKL isn't my first choice - or second or third - it'll be great. :goodvibes

Pfft :snooty:

My first-first-FIRST choice is the Poly.

AKL is my first-first choice XD

Day 6 Part 4--Fantasmic! or no Fantasmic! ?

When I last left you, we were exiting a "double-dip" on ToT. We made our way (browsing, of course) down Sunset Blvd. to the "secret VIP" entrance that snakes around behind ToT.

ToT...spooky! :

disney2008208-1.jpg

We sat about half-way or so back in the "VIP" section, on the right.

Aly and I (don't I look happy?) :

disney2008209-1.jpg

As you recall, it had been raining (Faye! Oi!) on and off all day.

So would "inclement weather" hold back my beloved Fantasmic! ?

Well, then this TR wouldn't be happy :goodvibes

Luckily, it didn't rain until close to the end of the show. Phew!

We exited the stadium (in the drizzle) and boarded a bus back to POR.

10 minutes later, we were "home". :cloud9:

Coming Up:

Our last morning :(
Hey! What happened to our ME driver?
Homecoming

AND IN OTHER NEWWWWWWWSSSSS...

We might be going back to WDW next summer!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hey Meg! We're back from NJ. It's sweltering hot here in Mass. so I'm in my lovely air-conditioned house playing catch-up on the DIS!

Lovely pix of the animals at AK. Gotta admit, the girls and I have skipped AK our past two trips. They're not big into animals and there are not many rides that interest them. (You know our feelings about EE! :scared:) But we do LOVE the shows. FotLK is one of our absolute faves in all of WDW! Both of my girls enjoy the Lion King movies and music so much and we think that show is so wonderful. Love the interaction. Thanks for those pix!:thumbsup2

We have yet to see the Nemo show. We're kind of bitter about it replacing the Tarzan Rocks show - that was another huge fave of ours. :snooty: But I definitely have AK, and the Nemo musical, on our schedule for December!

I burst out laughing at Aly's shirt! :lmao:

LOVE IT! :rotfl:

Aww Meg - I just read your "confession" post. I admire you for being so honest and upfront. Thank you for sharing.

You have an amazing attitude! And trust me - maintaining that good attitude can get you through alot!:thumbsup2

You also mentioned a good friend who wasn't do very well last month - I hope things have improved for him and I will certainly keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

Lauren also reallys wants to get the Honor Society CD when it comes out. We liked them too. She saw them on the TCAs last night and got excited. Not as excited as she did whenever the Jonas Brothers came on, but excited nonetheless. ;)

Did you scream during Joe's "haircut" ?

I laughed about your sick computer. My laptop has spent many a day with the Geek squad.:headache: The first time it happened in February, I tried to get on the DIS on our old computer and couldn't remember my password either. I still had the one I was assigned when I joined two years ago - a bunch of letters and numbers! :headache::headache: First thing I did when I got my laptop back was change my password. AND - I have it written down somewhere just in case I forget that one!

My first-first-FIRST choice is the Poly.
AKL is my first-first choice XD
:snooty: Well my first-first-first choice is Boardwalk, followed by Beach & Yacht Club, Poly, and then comes AKL. But I'll take it.

Did you scream during Joe's "haircut"?
I did! And then I was like, oh nevermind, its only a wig. Haha

Oh, you'll love the Nemo show! We certainly loved it. It's in the AC, lots of seating, plenty of good seats, etc.

Then again, there were probably 300-500 people in all of AK that day! :rotfl:

Alrighty, in order:

 it's not easy, that's for sure. I just had a routine bone marrow biopsy last Tuesday (no results as of yet) and it's rough. Rough, rough, rough.

That + back surgury last November = day in bed for me :woohoo: ;)

My friend is doing MUCH better now, thanks. His graduation party was a few weeks ago, and it was a total BLAST!! Lots of fun (though I'm not forgiving them for soaking me...slip 'n' slide and then they turned the hose on me!!) and I loved it.

I was like "NOT MY JOE...oh...it's fake...BUT COME ON!!!!"

Honor Society, YES! They're cute, and they're pretty darn good!

I changed my password! Hooray!

And NOW I shall remember it ;)

:snooty: Well my first-first-first choice is Boardwalk, followed by Beach & Yacht Club, Poly, and then comes AKL. But I'll take it.

Poor Joe.

(I was rooting for the Hula-skirts-and-coconut-bras personally. LOL!)

(That, or the Single Ladies dance!)

Take picturessss!

Day 7 Part 1--Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye

August 21, 2008

So I decided to take a brief break from typing my Physics I Honors summer essay (ew) to give you a next-to-final segment!

Plus, it's been over a year since we've gone!

We woke up (sadly) on our last day :(

Pack, get ready to go...but why must we? Can't we stay just ONEEEEE more day? Please?

We left "home" close to noon (our flight was at 3:30, so ME would pick us up around 12:30).

Acadian House:

disney2008226-1.jpg

Our room is *JUST* off to the left there, ground floor. Great location!

Pathway towards the lobby:

disney2008227.jpg

disney2008228.jpg

After "one last look" in the gift shop (and to finish our blessed snack credits), we sat outside to wait for our ME. Of course, we were flying Southwest, so we had to check in our luggage ourselves. How terrible! :snooty:

That gift shop...it's pretty cool. It's called "Fulton's General Store", and that's what it looks like, a general store. It's fairly big, and lots to look at. We spent a lot of time in here!

Once we boarded our ME...we noticed something wasn't quite right...

Where did our driver go, and why is that purple dragon driving the bus?! :

disney2008229-1.jpg

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes, that is the Figment plushie that Dad got for me in MouseGear.

;)

The ride was quick and painless (except the "we're leaving Disney!" pain, of course). We arrived at MCO just before 1:00.

Check-in was fairly quick, and we set off for the terminal. Lunch was courtesy of McDonald's this afternoon. I also finished my marshmallow from Goofy's Candy Co. (which had been in our mini-fridge, so it was still good!).

Not much is to be said about the flight, other than that I finished Breaking Dawn.

And...that's it, basically. PVD is a small airport, nothing noteworthy.

That's all for now! I will be doing a final-thoughts post later this week/weekend :)

Hey Meg! I'm back from the beach and trying desperately to catch up!!

The "goodbye post" is always the hardest... but definitely preferable to writing a physics essay!! :crazy2:

pixiedust: for a good bone marrow test result and a great ending to your summer vacation!

Kathy

Results came back normal! :)

What fun, the beach. Of course, living in the Ocean State, you've got lots of it.

And writing TR's is DEFINATELY preferable to writing science essays! (Although math is my least favorite subject. I'm just not good at it. Trigonometry is so not going to be fun!)

As usual, I'm playing catchup!

MGM day - yes, we love some 50sPTC also. The fried chicken -. Gorgeous pix from Beauty and the Beast. That show is one of my all-time faves at WDW. I still get goosebumps and teary-eyed watching it. We also saw the Broadway version and it was wonderful!

We did the Mama Melrose's Fantasmic pkg. last year also and I agree - very good but soooo much food! And I realized it was pointless for us to do the package because with Amanda in her wheelchair, we're directed to assigned seating anyway!:headache: Fantasmic is one of our favorite shows but I think in December, we're just going to make regular ADRs at MM and then head over to Fantasmic - if it's playing. I hear they've cut back the shows alot!:sad2:

Departure day is the saddest day! Do you have plans to go back anytime soon?

And fyi - OUR first, first, first choice is Boardwalk!

Oh - and dare I mention that Lauren may be seeing the Jonas Brothers again in October? Her best friend was away and missed the Boston concerts; now that they've added two shows at Mohegan Sun, her mom wants to take her - and wants to know if Lauren and I would be interested in coming along. Make a girls' overnight trip out of it. What do you think Lauren's response was?

:hyper: :cool1::thumbsup2:banana::woohoo::yay::dance3: :love:

So sad your TR is over! :sad2:

We're planning on going back next August, before school starts (hopefully, we'll make free dining!) Possibly staying offsite, and heading to Wet n Wild, Sea World, and/or Busch Gardens.

Of course, this isn't a definite, but it's in the works!

Woohoo for Lauren! Mohegan Sun is pretty cool. I was DYING to see Taylor Swift there, but that concert sold out FAST!! :sad2:

Beauty & The Beast--seen the musical 3 times! Once at PPAC (national tour), once at some community theater in MA, and once again at PPAC (a Theater Of The Stars tour). It's so beautiful! So sad that it closed on Broadway, though.

Final installment to come tonight :)
