You? City Girl? Country Girl? Suburb Girl?

I'm a city girl but I better adapt to the suburbs soon. We're looking at houses in a very "Leave it to Beaver" type neighbourhood :scared:. Luckilly that area is only 10 minutes from downtown.

I'm really not much of a country person. We're visiting a small mountain town in the Rockies this summer but there's still a Starbucks and a mall near our hotel.

The older I get, the more I dream about living in the country (with a reasonable commute to shopping). I think I would be happiest living in a small quaint New England coastal town

Jenn - that's exactly how I feel, I couldn't have said it better. :thumbsup2 I was born and raised in the suburbs, and we live in the suburbs now, which is great. I work in the city and it's awful - the traffic, snotty people, crowded streets. I've often told DH that I want to move to Maine, one of those towns nestled in the mountains with the white-steepled church. Either that or a town just like Cicely, Alaska - the town in Northern Exposure.

I am a country girl raising another country girl! We have our 10 acres with a goat and a pig, I love it that DD gathers the eggs she eats for breakfast the next morning.

And nothing beats a good old country party, swinging out of the hayloft and driving around on a tractor!

I am definitely a city girl through and through. I can't handle living in the country. But once I get married and have children I think living in a suburb outside of a big city would work for me.

Definitely a city girl. I can't stand to be anywhere where everything shuts down early or is more than a 10 minute drive away. I do like to go to the beach or country in short spurts, but I get bored after a few days.

In the words of the great Toby Keith

I live out on the backroads where I walk my country mile
And if it’s so good in the city, why don’t anybody smile?
The traffic’s always heavy, and that air ain’t fit to breathe.
I ain’t saying that it’s wrong for you, it just don’t make sense to me.

I'm surprised to see all of these fellow country girls! I guess it's related to the type of women who love Disney. :)
some of my funniest moments of living in the center of Manhattan came when I would walk down the street and say, Dana, you are living the dream of so many american girls and yet you fantasize about having a backyard. :)

You're definitely living this American girl's dream! I would love to live in NYC but at this point that is so far BEYOND what I can afford :rotfl: Someday maybe :)

CITYgirl born and raised. Have always lived in Chicago and can't see myself living in the suburbs or the country. DH and I made several exploratory trips to other states to see "if we could live there" but missed the conveniences we have here like public transit, several grocery stores within walking distance, the best restaurants, etc. I hate the weather here in the Winter, but LOVE it during the summer! We love Chicago, think it's a great place to raise our family and can't imagine living anywhere else!

I live in the suburbs but I'm a city girl at heart. I love the energy of the city and think it would be great to be in walking distance of shopping, museums, restaurants, and nightlife.
ITA :thumbsup2 Would live in Oprah's building in downtown Chicago if I could...:)

I've got the heart of a country girl but my body needs to live in the suburbs ;)

It's the suburbs for me. I grew up in the country and don't like the isolation and having to drive everywhere you have to go.

I'm a country girl. I love peace and quiet, hearing nothing but the wind in the trees and the birds singing. I love wide open spaces, or wooded areas. Cities, people and noise get on my nerves.

ANOTHER FOUR YEAR OLD THREAD POPPED TO THE FRONT????? I checked because it looked like I answered it and I did, in 2006!!! :scared1:

I don't think I answered in '06...

But I am city all the way.

I need 4 McDonalds within a 1 mile radius, a mall or three within a 30 minute drive, and multiple other shopping and dining options.

I need 24-hour stores.

I am CITY. :thumbsup2
