You? City Girl? Country Girl? Suburb Girl?

I have to say country/suburban. I was born in NE Philadelphia. In first grade we moved to Edgemont PA we had dirt roads. What a shock! We had an Apple Tree & the first time my DD showed us the house I got stung by a bee. I was thrilled with move, not. I now am so happy they did it. I have my best friend from down the road for 30 years now. The road is longer now.

Now I live in what was country 10 years ago when we moved here but is turning suburban.

We live in suburbia and I love it. We're close enough to a major city (45 minutes to Washington DC) that we can easily get there and close to the country. We have all the major shopping, plus pools and bike paths, etc. I think it's the best of all worlds to raise children (of course you country and city people might disagree :) ).

I've always lived in suburbia or small towns, which is what I like best. I grew up in the suburbs of Maryland, a short trip to Washington DC. In Maine, I like being close to a larger city, (half hour to Portland and an hour and a half from Boston), but I do not wish to live in a city.

I've always been a beach/coastal person and have never lived less than an hour or so from the shore. Our house now is about a ten minute drive to the beach. Actually, I'd like to live on a tropical island somewhere, but it's not practical right now. However, maybe within the next few years....... :sunny:

I, for the longest time believed that there was nothing past Wolf Rd here.
As someone who has lived in the Chicago area all of her life, this had me :rotfl2:

I love where I live right now. Close enough to Chicago to enjoy all the beaches, museums, restaurants, theaters and sports venues of a big city, but far away enough to not have to deal with the traffic. I am also about a 15-minute ride to what could be considered the country.

The most important thing though, is that I am within minutes of just about every store you can think of. Doesn't get any better than that. :teeth:

I live in the suburbs but I'm a city girl at heart. I love the energy of the city and think it would be great to be in walking distance of shopping, museums, restaurants, and nightlife. If it weren't for the weather, I think I'd love to live in a city like Chicago or New York. I don't like the country at all - not even for a short visit.

Suburbia all the way for me. I like being 10-15 minutes from a store, mall or work. My commute is 15 max. My Dh's is 5 minutes. I can get to downtown Buffalo in less than 15 minutes, I can get to the Falls in 15 minutes and into Canada in a few more minutes. I can be on the expressways in 5 minutes, and if I want I can be out in the country in about 20 minutes. Can't beat that.

I loved growing up in the city of New Orleans but now I live in a small town and enjoy this life as well. Being next to the water is a biggie for me.

If I wasn't married I would definitely move back to a city so I could walk everywhere I needed to go.

I'm a little bit country...and I'm a little bit Rock n Roll. :)

Raised in the suburbs, moved to the city, living in the country...will retire on a beach!

We could be related :rotfl2:

Definitely a suburbia girl. I've lived here all my life and could never leave. I seriously don't think I could ever move off Long Island. I live 20-30 minutes away from the ocean and from the LI Sound. NYC is just a train ride away. I have 5 malls within a short driving distance. I have a 10 minute commute to work everyday. I live within walking distance of every type of store I could possibly need. Yet, I still have a beautiful yard with all my flowers, my dog has a place to run around and your neighbors are just far enough away yet just close enough to be comfortable.

I mean look at it. I am a train ride away from some of the best shopping in the world! I am about an hours drive away from the Hamptons! Whenever I have to travel, I have 3 airports to choose from. Take an hours drive east and I smack dab in the middle of farmlands. Whether I go north, south or east, I hit beaches. I love it here!

City girl raising a southern gentleman in the suburbs.... You can take the girl out of the city ... you know the rest.

Can't relate to "country" at all.

The older I get, the more I dream about living in the country (with a reasonable commute to shopping). I think I would be happiest living in a small quaint New England coastal town

I'm definently a country girl right now...we live on several acres of slightly rolling hills (or at least, as much of a hill as you can get in southern Louisiana! I sometimes wonder if we're on the only one... :rotfl: ), with an A-Typical red barn and white four-rail fence and everything. However, we are withen eeeeaaaaaasy driving distance of shopping galore, AND about an hour away from the city, new orleans. Or what was once a city...

I love living out in the country, but I think I could easily become a beach girl as well. I also like surburbia, wouldn't mind living there. I might even be able to swing the city-loft gig. I suppose you could call me versital. :rotfl:

Mostly a suburban girl... with a bit of country mixed in. Not really a city girl at all... I like being near them, but not *in* them. I love the little communities like you see on TV. That is just my kind of life. I enjoy walking outside, passing a person, and saying hi whether you know them or not! Just my ideal :)

Suburbs all the way! I live about 5 miles outside of NYC and love it, I would never ever want to move anywhere else.
I really dislike going into NYC for the most part, but I like that it's there.LOL
Cities in general make me nervous, so it's nothing personal against NYC.

I have the ocean an hour away, the mountains an hour away, any store, any shopping within 5 miles...the only thing bad about this area are the prices of homes, taxes, and the fact that everyhting is closed on Sundays. ;)

At heart, country girl. In practice, suburbia with a touch of city.

Suburb. I like where I live now because it has a touch of all three. I live two miles from a mall - but I drive past cows to get there.

I have that too and I Love it.

We don't have a huge city but its big enough that we enjoy most of the amenities.

I am burb girl I guess (that just sounds so wrong!)

City girl born and raised and now living in suburbia and commuting into the city for work 5 dayss a week. The only place I am truly happy is at the beach, which is thankfully only a 15 minute drive away. So I guess beach bum would have been a good option for me!

Country Girl raised in the City and SOOOOO happy to be in the Country now.

I’m a suburban girl and have been my whole life. I like living near a big city, but I wouldn’t want to live in the city itself.

I’ve often thought that moving to a smaller town would be nice when it comes time to raise a family, but I can’t really imagine living anywhere other than the suburbs. I think I might like a small city though—like Macon or Valdosta, GA.

I wouldn’t handle a very rural area very well either—no farm work for me! :teeth:
