You can do it too!!! Mine Train at Rope Drop :)

Any tips for making it to the opening show while staying offsite??

We stayed at Westgate Town Center on Old Lake Wilson Road, and we left our room at 7:30 a.m. the morning we went to Magic Kingdom (June 9). We got there in plenty of time for the opening show, but we were still closer to the back of the group inside the turnstiles. The monorail wasn't working that morning, so we had to take the ferryboat. That took FOREVER. Next time, I plan to leave the room a bit earlier.

Does someone have a MAP??

I haven't gone to Fantasyland as my first attraction at rope drop-EVER!!!
I cant visualize the path we need to walk to get there at rope drop

We got to mk 35 minutes prior to rope drop. Still have a 60 minute wait. No mine train fp.available all 2 weeks we are here. FP + sucks. We have been coming here multiple times per year for the past 8 years. Not coming back next year. Great job Disney

Sorry it didn't work out for you.... :(

Curious though- did you go through the castle? I truly think had we gone through the castle, we'd have been 45-60 minutes wait too....

Unfortunately, every minute (and plain luck) seems to make a difference because the wait was 60 mins when we got off the ride (only 15 mins after entering queue). We were able to RD a 2nd time after this post w/ 15-20 min wait. Crowd levels were posted as "9" that day too....

We took a taxi from the Portofino Bay (my husband won a trip to Universal! Only way we ever would have tried it!!) at 7:40. We had it take us to the Contemporary Resort so we could have breakfast at the Contempo Cafe. After breakfast, we just walked over to the MK. :) Plan worked perfectly!!!!!

Walk up the right side of Main Street, toward the castle. Go past the bridge to tomorrowland (on your right).

Just before you get to the castle, in the hub area, there is a path to the right of the castle. You will be between Cosmic Ray's restaurant and the castle.

The tea cups will be in front of you and then on your right as you continue straight. As soon as you get around the corner by the Pooh ride, hook left. The Mine Train will be right in front of you, on the right. :)

VERY glad to hear that. We'll be there in August and were hoping to ride it multiple times (both with FP+ and without). :)

Sorry in advance, I'm off topic, but do you remember how long the taxi ride took from Portofino Bay to the Contemporary? Thanks and congrats on the trip win! :)

I found on a recent trip last month that the best time to ride it without a FP is when everyone else is waiting for the fireworks.

We walked by SDMT around 9:40pm in mid-June, it posted a 75 min wait. I asked the CM how accurate that wait time was, her words "it is very accurate, the wait time will be very close to 75 mins"

I looked at the line, which I was checking it out all day when we walked by it and thought to myself, that does not look like a 75 min wait.

We decided to get in line....I looked at the time, from the time we stepped in the queue and by the time we got off the ride...25 minutes!!!!

We took the wrong route and paid for it dearly. We were through the turnstiles quickly but saw the logjam going through the castle so we detoured around to the left. I should have gone right. By the time we got there it was an 80 minute wait. The line was all the way back to the tea cups!! I just wasn't 100% sure where the ride was. So miscalculated.

We wound up waiting when it said 75 minutes but it turned out to only be about 45 thankfully. The ride was great but very short. I was expecting it to be more like Splash Mountain with multiple stops and scenery. Even BTMR was twice as long. Still, a very cool experience.
