500 disposable shower caps
140 pounds of cat litter
5000 sheets of printer paper

dh was like:confused::confused::sad2::sad2:

in my defense-

ds is into 'deep conditioning' his hair-and he's gone through 20 years of accumulated hotel shower cap packets over the course of a month. the 500 package was half the unit price of the smaller packages (I figure we're set for several years).

35 pound containers of cat litter were on sale on-line at walmart w/free shipping. I figured why not take advantage PLUS the ups guy will set them in the garage for me so I'm stocked for months on end (without having to schlep them in and out of the grocery cart/car).

we opened our last package of printer paper and I was going to just replace it until I found a deal that ends tomorrow on staples-full case/5000 sheets-regularly 53.99 but w/the rebate they are offering it comes down to $14.99 (and again-free shipping). that's less than I pay for 2 or 3 packages so why not?

so what's left your loved ones shaking their heads?

I am lucky, so office supply truck left two full boxes of copy/printer paper sitting in the middle of my work parking lot. I had to move them, and they are heavy. So instead of putting them in my store so a billion dollar company gets paper, I took them home. Benn going though it for three years now (the 12 pack boxes).

Lets see my dad looked at me crazy when I got a $20 binder, those plastic sheets that protect paper, and a 10 pack of white poster board. I am using these to easily organize my gift cards/ ecertictifes for next years vacation. The poster boards I use for goal charts. Disney Vacation Fund, Souvenirs funds for the youngin's, and a gift card chart (so I do not forget what everyone asked for and the demontionation of how much I need.

My mom and my Ipod's. 200 for a music maker were her words. And my dad with my earbuds. Apple only now. The others go out after 2-3 months. Apple last about 9, and for 10 extra dollars at best buy (their extended warranty- you get a second pair with in two years).

My DH spent $200ish on a juicer. I told him not to buy it, that he'd use it a couple of times and it's just sit in a cupboard. He insisted he was trying to be super healthy from now on, and he'd use it every day. He used it 3 times, and it's been in my cupboard for the last 10 years.

I've bought like 300 K-Cups at one time before. My husband questioned why so many but it was a great deal and I needed that many to get the free shipping! (I think I got them for less than 30 cents a cup). I also buy hundreds of discounted gift cards for Panera, Chipotle, TGIFridays. Places we frequently visit. It might take us a couple months to use them but if I can save 15-30% then I'll buy them when they're heavily discounted!

if it's a product that I know for certain I will use up prior to any REAL expiration date (not nesc. what the fda makes a company print on a product), and I can get a great deal on it I absolutely will stock up. deodorant for 99 cents that normally costs almost $4.00 each, coffee filters and other paper products in bulk on a great sale.....I may put out a chunk of change when I buy them but I'm only buying them once or twice a year at a fraction of the cost.

I'm vegan, and we eat a lot of beans. I like the convenience of canned beans, so when they go on sale, I will buy as much as I can. I have some stored in the coffee table in the sitting room because my small pantry is full. That's what makes my family roll their eyes.

A 5 pound can of Chocolate Pudding from Sam's Club. It was probably 20 years ago and kind of symbolized to me the ridiculous sizes Sams Club and Price Club ( had to be before Price Club changed it's name to Costco) sold.

Backfired on me, because my kids loved it. Every time my kids had a group friends over for a birthday party or other reason, I had to make sure I had a 5 pound can of chocolate pudding on the shelf for them to share with their friends.

And now even the regular grocery store carries a 5 pound can of chocolate pudding. So apparently OTHER people are buying it. It's NEVER any other flavor though.

140 pounds of cat litter

Eh..that's nothing...I have 180 pounds in my laundry room right now, and I don't think that's anything weird. I just found a good sale last week. And I would have bought more had the terms allowed it!

A Mont Blanc Le Grand fountain pen. My family and friends couldn't quite wrap their heads around the purchase.

My daughter is addicted to stuffed things (animals, etc). Tsum Tsums being the worse but at least they are tiny. We literally have about 50 large plastic bins and it's consuming the garage that are nothing but stuffed animals and she acquires at least 1-2 more bins worth per year. Unfortunately it's the one thing that most charities can't take for illness reasons if not new or we would donate most of them.

If anyone knows of a way to donate/give them or anything please let me know becasue we're looking to move next year and I'm not bringing them with me.

Replying here as one of those who've made the, "You bought WHAT?!", exclamations the OP encountered...

Disney-bound in November. My beloved sister [among 4] who hasn't traveled in years is - FINALLY - coming along! So happy about that, yet she she's gone WAY overboard with purchases in "preparation" for the trip in an effort to be helpful.

Got to the point where she'd purchased so many snack foods; travel-sized bottles of toiletries; and - oddly enough - multiple pajama sets for each of us - that I'd finally had to beg her to stop; explain that there was only so much we could pack; and reassure her that there are, in fact, places to purchase such items, affordably enough, in the vicinity of Orlando...

The final straw was when she presented me - all at once - with three full-size bars of soap; two more travel-sized tubes of toothpaste (to add to the six others); and six bags of Pepperidge Farms Goldfish crackers...And all for a two-week stay for six people vs.the Zombie Apocalypse of indeterminable duration.

Love my sister! Can't wait to see her have an overdue magical experience...But might make her tote the luggage!

The fire depts and hospitals near me do take them. You also might look into a Battered Women's shelter that might take them.

Local churches might take them for their summer camps. DH is addicted to claw machines and playing the games at amusement parks so our house is overflowing in them.i typically just bag them and set them out for Purple Heart but then a friend told me that one of summer bible schools hands them out as prizes.

I ordered the paper mentioned in the first post last night.

This morning, I saw a FB ad for free leggings and leg warmers with a $65 purchase (last day). My daughter wears leggings but not leg warmers but what the heck. This ad was from Aerie and I previously ordered her some underwear that she likes. So, I just ordered her 14 more pair and two packs of stickers to meet the $65 after discounts to get the free leggings and leg warmer. I also ordered her and her brother a hoodie from their AE site but didn't count toward the promotion. My kids wear hoodies in the winter not jackets. Not too bad because I was already thinking of ordering her more AND they do not carry her size in our local store because she is tiny and the XXS just now fits her. They don't carry XXS in the store, it says online only. Same with the boys sizes, they do not carry XS in the AE store, and they don't have XXS as an option.

Most wont take them for fear of lice. My daughter's stuff animals (many webkinz and build a bears) have turned into dog toys. As they tear one up, I pull out another. I couldn't find a charity to take them, although they were bagged for months with no risk of lice, it's most places policy not to take them. I didn't check a dog shelter. Not sure if they would want them because technically the eyes, etc could be a choking hazard.

I've not personally used them, but there's a website called 'donation town'. you click on the type of items you want to donate, then enter your zip code-it brings up a list of charities near that zip who will accept the type of donation you want to make. it also offers to arrange free pick-up w/ the charity. when we last moved we donated a good amount including a wealth of stuffed animals to the vietnam veterans of american organization-they also will do pick up. also-a great resource for us to get rid of usable items is to keep an eye out for youth groups who are collecting for rummage sales (heck have your own garage sale-put bags out with the bins and sell the stuff for a flat rate per bag).

Another stuffed animal donation option is a retirement home. My grandma used to get them as bingo prizes and loved them! I had a lady take all of the beanie babies at a neighborhood sale once because their center uses them as prizes too.

I just donated two large trash bags to our local humane society. My son's closet doesn't look like it was touched and he cried through the process. My daughter couldn't of cared less.

Someone posted on a facebook classifieds group they needed them for the animals and especially since it was kitten season. Bribing ds with a visit to the animals helped to convince him to finally let go.
