"You don't think of citrus when people mention "The Oranges." *You order a hard roll with butter for breakfast. *You've known how to get to Seaside Heights since you were a kid. *You've eaten at a diner at 3 a.m. after a night of partying hearty. *You remember the "Two Guys" were from Harrison. *You know what a jug handle is. *You know the state isn't one hugh oil refinery. *You know NJ is not all farmland. *You know there are no beaches in New Jersey, there's the Shore. *You know the road to the Shore is the Parkway. *Your school made good Italian subs, and you call it sub, not submarine sandwich, hoagie or hero. *You know how to negotiate a circle (as least some of us do). *You know that the last fact deals with driving. *You know that this is the only "New"....state that doesn't require "New" to identify it, like try.l..Mexico....York....Hampshire-doesn't work, does it? *You only go to New York City for day trips, and you only call it "The City". *You know that a White Castle is the name of both a fast food chain and a fast food sandwich. *You don't think "What exit? (do you live near?) is funny. *You live within 20 minutes of 3 different malls. *You can see the Manhattan skyline from some part of your town. *You refer to all highways and interstates by their numbers. *You know where every clip shown in the Soprano's opening credits is. *You've gotten on the wrong highway tring to get out of Willowbrook Mall. *You've eaten a Boardwalk cheesesteak with vinegar fries. *You have a favorite Atlantic City casino. *You start planning for Memorial Day Weekend in February. **And finally...you've never pumped your own gas. Thank God.!

"You know your from NORTH JERSEY when", cause non of us SOUTH JERSEY folk can relate to it (LOL)

remember the movement to have NJ split into different states, and then the one where basically North Jersey would be absorbed by NY amd South Jersey by Philadelphia

Yep, this is North Jersey and aLOT of New York! I can relate to most of this. Most of my extended family still lives in Jersey City and the "Oranges"!

So true!! Being from South Jersey, there are only a few of these that don't apply, but for the most part this is right on target!

I have lived in all areas of the state but grew up in Central Jersey. People in the North think Trenton is South Jersey. People in the South think that Trenton is North Jersey. To me, South is Cherry Hill down and North is Somerville and up.

I got most of these but I don't think I've ever been to Willowbrook mall - though I might have, I've been a lot of places over the years. I disagree with seeing Manhattan skyline though, if you are over by the Delaware, you won't see it.

I've grown up all my life in central NJ and I have never referred to the beach as "the shore." I think only people who vacation at the Jersey shore actually call it the shore. For those of us who have grown up at the beach, we just call it "the beach"
But most of the other things i agreed with and enjoyed reading.

Shesh Wher I grew up in NJ Cherry Hill is North Jersey also.. BTW my turnpike exit number was 0. LOL
