YoHo, YoHo, A Mother's Day Trip to the Mouse!

We had a beautiful day on Friday. It reached a high of 67 degrees. Sat & Sun have been poopy though, 37 and RAINY. Yuck! I can't wait for nice weather, I'm sick of winter...come on spring!!!

Did I read you're making more shirts....can't wait to see them!

Yes, I may be making more shirts. I found this awesome disign, it's a black mickey head with a crown, and their names are written in the middle in purple, and 2009 is on the ear.
Glad you had a nice friday, it's such a tease having a day or two of warm weather and then going back to winter. I think the rest of the week for us will be 40s and rain on and off.

Happyelf, glad you had nice weather too!

Hey there! Your family is adorable- I love all the pictures. We finally had some nice weather this weekend. I was able to open the windows for a little bit (first time since October)

We had awesome weather here...high 70's, sunny, GREAT time to go to WDW!! HAHA BUT, gotta work to PAY for the disney vacations! BUMMER! Supposed to be nice all this week too, hopefully we've had the last of our cold spells for florida!! Ya'll look like ya'll had fun!!

Yay for a beautiful weekend! We had a nice Friday, but Saturday and Sunday were cooler and rainy. Oh well...at least it wasn't snow! :thumbsup2

The kids look like they enjoyed the time outside! Looking forward to seeing the new t-shirts! :goodvibes

Looks like you had a nice wknd outside. I appreciated the snow picts. DH tood DS9 out on the motorcycle the other day b/c it was almost 80 and DS counted some 27 snow piles where they hadn't melted yet.

Can't wait to see the shirts. I want to make mine soon had printing issues and still need a few more blank shirts. I'll have to check out walmart.com like you did.

I'm joining a little late but I'm enjoying reading your PTR! I have to leave for work in a bit and have not read the entire thread but wanted to subscribe! Looking forward to reading more... popcorn::

Glad everyone else seemed to have a day or two of nice weather too. But I got my crappy weather today. It's raining and 36 degrees right now. :scared:

We had weather in the 60's this weekend and today I woke up and had to scrape my car off - it is snowing. Only in New England! Yuck:upsidedow

So as our trip gets closer, 63 DAYS AWAY, I'm starting to get a little nervous about flying. When we originally started thinking about this trip in October I really wanted to drive. DH was Ok with it, although he would rather fly and get it over with in 3 hours. And I would too....except I am AFRAID to fly. Well, when my Mom joined in there was no way she was driving. She gets carsick and would most likely drive me nuts anyway:scared: So that was out. So come January when we were ready to book, I said fine let's fly...Let's just get there. I don't care how we get there, lets just get there. To me , really I would ride on a pig's back to get there. Well , It's just hitting me as of last night that , I have to get back on a plane.:scared1: We went to Florida in 2005 and we flew. I did not like it, I did not like it at all. The whole trip I was dreading getting back on the plane. When we landed in Orlando I could not hear a thing. My ears were blocked for half of the trip. By the time they unblocked I had to get back on the plane and block them back up.
I guess I really didn't think about the plane when I bought the airfare I just kind of did it. The deals were great and I just jumped at it before the prices went up.
My stepson does not like to fly either, when we told the kids we were going to Disney World they were all thrilled, the first thing out of his mouth was.....Do we have to go on the plane? And all the excitement came to a halt............Yes, Anthony, we have to get on the plane:headache: I don't know if he is really afraid to fly, or it was just because he does not like the feeling of his ears popping. They did hurt him last time more than just popping. I'm going to try to talk to him about him. But he is 12, and I don't think he'll admit he's scared to fly when his little sisters are not. My girls loved the plane, they are looking forward to their plane ride. Oh how I wish me and Anthony were too. I'm going to tell him that maybe he had a stuffy nose or a cold coming on that made his ears hurt worse than they normally would. Maybe he'll be completely fine this time (with the ear pain anyway)
I don't want the flight to ruin the trip, i'm trying not to think about it. I'm actually trying to get myself a little excited about it though.
Me and My Mom are going to go on southwest.com tonight and print out all of "the rules" . Alot has changed since we've flown 4 years ago.

Does anyone have any advice for me? (But if anyone else here is afraid to fly......don't tell me.) Only encouraging advice please. I don't want to have a nervous breakdown.:scared:

Does anyone have any tips for the airport. I'm going to find out all of the rules on what we can bring in the carryons, but do you have any little tricks that work well for you. I don't have babies or toddlers but I do have 4 kids to get through the airport! So any little tricks will be appreciated.

Any tips for Anthony?

I wasn't sure if I should tell him that I am afraid to fly too, maybe he'll talk about it with me. But then I was thinking if he knows I'm afraid, maybe he'll be even more afraid because I am too. I don't know.:confused3 And if he knows I'm afraid to fly, how do I tell him he'll be fine.
The kids don't know I don't want to fly, I only talk about that with my Mom and dh. I don't want the girls to think there is something to be scared of, because to them it is all just fun. I would like to keep it that way.

Thanks for any advice:thanks:

Well I know you said not to report this but I too am very afraid of flying. But I will say that the more times you fly the better it is. I think last time I flew I wasnt even scared once. I think for me the scary part is the whole build up. I work myself into such a panic beforehand and then after I am like "that wasnt even bad". In the past, I have asked my doctor and he has prescribed something for me to take 30 minutes before the flight and then I am good to go!! Or I have a good stiff drink and that works too! (hee) Last time I flew to Disney my youngest was 8 weeks old so I couldnt take a pill or drink and I was pretty scared, but we had a GREAT flight. Especially when you are going to Disney. Most of the people on your flight to MCO may also be heading to Disney and it's just a FUN flight- lots of excitement!! You will be FINE. Go with a GOOD attitude and sit back and close your eyes and dream of Disney!

Thanks, yeah, I think for me the build up before we go is worse than actually being on the plane. I am really trying to not think much about and it, and hope when 3am May 12th rolls around, I'll just wake up and go!

I personally LOVE to fly, but was very concerned about my DS14 on our last trip. None of my kids had ever flown before, but he suffers from anxiety disorder and I had visions of him freaking out on the plane once the doors were closed! I talked to his pediatrician about it and asked about giving him an extra dose of his medication that day, but she suggested just giving him a benedryl about a half hour before our flight. She said it would relax him and make him just drowsy enough that he should be able to be fine on the flight. It worked like a charm! He wanted to hold my hand during take-off, but that was it! He did great! Now, I am obviously not a doctor, so don't go on my advice alone, but contacting your pediatrician might be a good idea. He/she may even be able to give you some advice on the ear pain issue. ;)

Yea, I HATE to fly also, I have a few drinks, but it may be hard for you with the kids. Ask your dr if he has anything that will help, but can still help you function to take care of the kids. Good luck with that!!! It will be alright!!

What do you think about doing tshirts for our May meet at AKL? We could just do a design and then each family could iron it on themselves. That way we don't have to pay for shipping!!! Let me know. I will check around to see if anyone can make one! Let me know your ideas.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I was thinking about asking my Dr. If I should take something before we fly. I do have to function for the kids, so I don't know. I would really like to just tell myself "self, stop being an idiot, get on the plane you're on your way to Disney World" That might work. I don't know. We'll see as the time gets alittle closer I guess.

Has anyone ever tried those earplanes? If not, has anyone done anything else to try and prevent ear pain.
If I could tell Anthony that we have ..... to try to help with the ear pain he might feel better about getting on the plane too.

Yeah, i'd be up for designs for our AK meet. My kids are actually wearing the pink tanktops (Anthony's is blue) with the leopard minnie heads with the bows (obviously no bow for Ant) for AK day, but we could change for the meet. Does anyone have any ideas for a design yet?

Was thinking about the one I put on brides...thread. I asked my cousin Jayme to edit the top line. She is way less busy than Natalie! Its a shared file if anyone can edit..I am clueless! She was going to write Finally Made It May 13, 2009.
