Q: What is Steam? A: Steam is the world's largest digital website/seller of video games. They also sell additional applications which is why YNAB is on there.
Q: How does it work? A: You create an account and download the Steam program. You then use the program to buy games/applications. You can also purchase games/applications as gifts for others.
Q: Do I need to keep the Steam program on my computer to use YNAB? A: While you do need the Steam program to download YNAB, you do not need it to continue to use YNAB, so you can simply uninstall Steam after you install YNAB with no adverse effects.
Q: What about my activation key? A: If you purchase YNAB through Steam you can find your regular YNAB application key in the YNAB program. Once YNAB is loaded, go to the Help menu, and then click on "About YNAB 4". A window will pop up with a button that says "Copy Application Key to Clipboard." If you like, you can then download the YNAB app off of the YNAB website and use this key to activate YNAB (though as I stated YNAB will work fine without Steam).
