I was just checking around for our November trip and the raytes are double what I paid last year for a rental car. I paid 153.60 for a compact car for 8 days from National.Today the cheapest was well over 300.00. I know it's early but I hope they come down a bit!

I was also looking for November. Finally found an economy at Dollar for 8 days at $183 total. That was using the orlando magic card code from mousesavers. Of course, I always keep an eye on rates and if they come down I make a new reservation.

Try going through the Southwest travel site for cars. Also sometimes the smallest is not always the cheapest. I have paid less sometimes for a minivan than a compact cost the same day. Go figure, but look at all the options.

Try Dollar using the Orlando Magicard discount from Mousesavers. I saved about $100.00 using that code - but you have to call Dollar to get this rate (you can't enter the code online). Make the call...it's well worth it!!

I used that code online. I put it in the corporate # box. It worked there.

I've found that Thrifty has some pretty good rates...but even their's are creeping up! It is crazy!

If you look into thrifty try code WMRT for an extra 10% off...

Good luck!

:thumbsup2 Yep, I just made reservations w/Dollar using the Orlando Magicard code online, too! Got a compact for a week for $159 TOTAL! It's in-terminal, too--even better! ;)

Thrifty seems to be the cheapest by far right now. I have a mid-size car booked for the last week of Oct. for 9 days. Total with all taxes is $160. I booked it through DVC member services. If you call CRO to book it you should get the same rate or close to it.

Thrifty is off the airport and you have to take a shuttle to get there; however, they are so much cheaper than all of the other rental car companies that taking the shuttle and spending a littel extra time getting the car is well worth it.

I'm paying less than $18 per day with taxes included.

DW virgin here...we plan to rent a car while we are in Orlando for 8 days and I am wondering how you get a code to get the discount and what is it exactly? :confused3

Just check out www.mousesavers.com and click through the links to car rental information for WDW. Mary has all sorts of information on getting the best rates from the different rental car companies. Some are on site; some off. Try a number of different combinations of codes or coupons to get the rate best for you.

Good luck.

/TRy looking for an 8 passenger miniva. 1100$$ I just about died!!!

When in November are you going?

I always look at rates using Expedia and then I go to each of the individual websites using Mary's codes over on Mousesavers. No matter how bad the rates are now, I would book something now and cancel it if rates get better.

If you have an entertainment book or belong to costco, you can also get pretty decent rates. The time of day also makes a difference. I was booking a rental car at LAX last week and found a rate for $18/day (searched in the a.m.). I needed some more info from my bf so waited a few hours (by then it was p.m.). When I went back, it was up to $34/day AFTER the discounts! Luckily, I tried a different company (I think I ended up with alamo) and it all worked out.

Rates are extremely high now. A few months back. I booked a compact (Dodge Neon) for 7 days in Sept. $79 plus tax thru Thrifty. That same car is up to $150+ after being as high as $180+ a few weeks back. I keep looking since I think they'll drop again, hopefully letting me upgrade to a midsize for a few dollars more. Right now I got what I need for me and DW. My advice is to book now and keep tuned in. Good luck.

I am about to throw up trying to find an affordable rental! I want one from September 7-15, and that ONE extra day over a weeks rental is killing us.

I haven't found anything below $240 on ANY website, using any number and combinations of codes, coupons, ID's, etc. And I'm a discount guru. I've never paid more than $175 for a NINE day rental in the past, and now an eight day rental is killing me!

Is a Compact OK? Do you have the AMEX Card? I looked on National and got you a rate of $194 using a combination of the Amex rate (5125601) and the $20 coupon (ND41, need to print it from the link on MS), both from Mousesavers. An Intermediate is about $20 more.

Thanks for looking Robin!

It is almost too small, but I guess I could make do. DH and I usually rent a midsize through Emerald Aisle, because we go for nine days, and there are some serious luggage issues involved. (Two big suitcases, one small suitcase, one hang up bag, and all the carry on stuff. I should just learn to pare down.)

Those are the exact same codes I've been using when I make it through Emerald Aisle, and I keep getting $242! I guess I need to go through their standard rental page. What are you using for a Contract ID?

Hi-
I used one of the MasterCard coupons on Mousesavers--not sure which one--for Alamo and got a full-size car for 10 days for 177.18 total. It was the best deal I found after using any/all combination of codes.

Good Luck!

I'm hoping rates go back down in September, but in the meantime, I noticed what cost $409+ from National and picking up at the airport, was only $242 when picking up at the Dolphin and dropping off at airport. I decided a town car for $60 to the Dolphin to pick up my cheaper car could save me about a hundred dollars. Interesting that offsite is cheaper than the airport! I have quite a bit of time before our trip and usually reserve around September when rates go down, but got ansy and decided to look now.
