:sad2: What a bummer. Weather.com is showing rain every single day during our trip next week. Hubby thinks maybe we should reschedule. Is the forecast wrong very often in FL?

It doesn't rain all day long and you can still have fun in the rain. My family and I went one September and a tropical depression just sat over Disney. It was the best vacation we had. We had raincoats and walked on every ride.

Don't cancel!! Go and have fun.

Many times the rain is a short afternoon shower of 15-45 minutes - clears the parks out nicely - put on a poncho and enjoy! Sometimes you don't even need a poncho - just duck into a store or an indoor show or eatery and wait it out.

Only a few rides close due to rain - Test Track is one - many don't close unless there is too much lightning.

Most days the FL forecast shows some chance of rain no matter when you go. I just looked on weather.com, up until Friday next week, it's no more than 30%. That's not all day rain, just scattered or isolated.

Florida is tropical and gets a lot of rain, but like PP say, its usually not all day. We were there in July when Orlando was brushed by Hurricane Dennis. Some strong-ish winds and a few torrential downpours. Frankly it was our best day EVER at the MK. There were no crowds and no lines for any ride most of the day. People often leave when it rains, leaving the park empty-ish.

When we go to WDW, we assume rain and dress for it. We wear water resistant shoes (like Tevas, Keens or Merrell water sandals) so that it doesn't matter if our shoes get wet. (I do usually carry in a pair of extra socks for DD because her feet often get cold when wet.) We wear clothes that dry very quickly (brands sold at lots of outdoor and sporting goods stores) and bring very lightweight rain jackets. We have a waterproof messenger bag that we carry all our stuff in so it doesn't get wet. If it rains we put on our jackets and keep on going. If it rains really hard, we get a meal/snack or concentrate on indooor rides and attractions until it lets up. Rain has never spoiled our WDW experience, quite the contrary actually! :umbrella:

Don't reschedule based on the fact the forecast says it's going to rain. You'd never get to go! As others have said, the showers usually don't last that long. Always take rain gear, no matter if you leave in the morning and there's no clouds in the sky.

A few years ago, we took a nice ten day trip to Disney World. When we got back, I was asked how it went. I said "it was great - rained every day we were there". Most people expressed regret. It was the best trip we ever had. Actually, I feel a little cheated if we go now and don't get at least one day with rain.

Rain is a bummer, but Disney (unlike other amusement parks) has a lot to do even if it rains there are a lot of indoor rides and attractions.

Before we left for our August trip, the weather channel said... Thunderstorm with lightnings everday and it was during our trip. Well guess what... we only got the thunderstorm for two days in the afternoon until night. The rest was just your ordinary afternoon shower that last up to an hour.

Orlando would totally stink without plenty of rain. The rain cools things down and makes everything green. I have been in some Disney downpours, and some 2-hour rains but I have never seen it rain all day and night there.

Rain has never put a "damper" on our day at WDW. What others have said holds true - the rain thins the crowd, and in reality very few attractions are affected by the rain.

Quick tip - Before you go, pick up some rain ponchos for your family. If you buy them at the park, they only sell one style and everyone else at the park that day is wearing the same poncho. It is very difficult to pick family members out in a crowd when everyone looks the same!

I agree! We had some rainy days when we visited in September 2000, and we just wore our raincoats and carried umbrellas. We walked on to every ride, and waited in no lines. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! :earsgirl:

We are going to be there Sept 30 for 10 days. All I see is scattered thunderstorms. That's nothing. Every time I've been to WDW in October they are a chance every day. I have only caught one thunderstorm in all my trips to WDW. Now I have been caught in basic downpours but they aren't callling for them. I do see it is going to be in the upper 80s though. Great pool weather!!

Ditto to what skiwee1 said!

See you there on the 30th everyone!

Back in March, the weather reports said rain every day that we were there. It actually rained twice in eight days, once all day and once part of the day. The first rainy day we went to MK and walked on everything and no lines even at the Character tent in Toontown. Sure, we were a bit wet, but no lines!!!

The second day we went to AK, and had a great time. By the time we got there it wasn't raining anymore, but the park was still empty. We saw the most animals we've ever seen on the safari and we had a safari truck to ourselves! That will certainly never happen again. Wish I had a picture of that.

We just got back last monday morning. Forecast showed rain everyday while we were there, and guess what?? It didn't rain ONCE the whole time we were there. And like everyone says, a chance of rain doesn't mean it will rain all day. Usually just a few minutes or an hour each day. I wouldn't reschedule. I have family who live in Florida and Dad kept assuring me each day that the weather would be great, and it was!

In Florida, if you don't like the weather, wait 20 minutes it will change!!

When we went last Sept Weather.com showed rain for every day of our trip. With 2 hurricains sitting off the coast what else could I expect. So I was prepared for a soggy magical trip. Packed ponchos and bought new mini umbrellas for our whole party to carry. In 10 days it only rained twice, once during NOJ for about 1 hour, and one afternoon downpour for all of 10 minutes. We ended up having a great trip and even chuckled over my "magical" backpack, wheneve I would carry it all loaded up with rain gear, the skies stayed sunny.

Don't cancel your trip. Never let anything stop you from having a good time or enjoying yourself.

Make provisions if it rains - Disney Quest is a great spot. If it's spuratic, stay in the parks and go do shows that take a while. It may blow over..... Kilamanjaro Safari is a great place to go in the rain. All the animals are out. Even the lions.....
