We are leaving for Disneyworld on Friday the 17th and will be staying at sports. However, to take a week off I need to fit two weeks of work into the coming week before I can take off for vacation. I am way behind in my packing and shopping for the trip. I do have my ADRs and daily plans for the parks. I would appreciate any helpful hints on packing, items to bring, ect. I know there are sites that can help but don't have time to search for them so if you could refer me to the best of them and pass alonf your hints it would be a sanity saver. I will be driving to Florida and have three kids 17,13, 7. THANK YOU!

I have also posted this in the Attractions forum but realized this was a better place for it.

a couple of links with lists.

If you have kids you may want to get some small souvenier items to give them. If they like glow sticks then the dollar type stores usually have them for a good price.

Here are some items compiled from a previous thread. I'll copy only the relevant items I have it in PDF form with all of the tips.

Clothing
• If you’ll be doing laundry, consider packing one or two common colors for everyone –
you can wash all like colors together, cutting down on the number of loads you have
to do and preventing colors from running together.
• Lay out clothing the night before; it saves time and fighting the next morning.
• Have at least one pair of comfortable walking shoes that are already broken in. You
may want to consider taking two or more pairs and switching between them.
• Try moisture-wicking socks like CoolMax Socks to keep your feet comfy and dry.
• Consider bringing a pair of flip-flops with you into the park. If it rains or your
shoes get soaked on a water ride, switch them out for your flip-flops.
• To dry wet bathing suits, rather than hanging them over the balcony railing or towel
racks in the bathroom, bring cheap plastic hangers that have built-in clips or
regular hangers and a few clothes pins and hang them there instead.
• Bring wrinkle-release spray to de-wrinkle clothing instead of spending time ironing.
• Use a fanny pack or comfortable shoulder bag to carry items with you into the park.
• Don’t forget hats and visors to shade your head and eyes.
• Pack a pair of fuzzy slippers with you to pamper your tired feet in your hotel room
at the end of the night.

Packing
• Pack only half as much as you think you need.
• If you really must pack a lot of clothing, consider buying vacuum bags (also called
“space bags”). These are available at Walmart and retailers like Bed, Bath, &
Beyond, and some can be rolled to get the air out of them instead of requiring you
to use a vacuum cleaner to suck it out.
• More on space bags: if you go this route, be aware that space bags make it easier to
exceed the 50 lb. weight limit imposed by most airlines.
• To keep your clothes smelling fresh while you travel, toss a dryer sheet into your
luggage before packing.
• Organize each person’s clothes by day and/or weather and pack them by individual
days and name in the large size, 2-gallon Ziploc bags.
• If you’ve packed everyone’s clothes in Ziploc bags, use a sharpie to write the first
letter of each person’s name or a special symbol such as a star on each bag to keep
them from getting mixed up – you’ll easily be able to spot whose bag is whose.
• If you have multiple suitcases, consider putting a few essential items for each
person into each suitcase. If one person’s suitcase gets lost, you still have a few key
pieces available until the luggage is found.
• Bring a pop-up hamper for dirty laundry in the room and a garbage bag to haul home
anything you don’t wash while you’re there (it keeps it separated from the other
cleaner items in your bags).
• Pack a soft-sided cooler in your luggage, then stop at a local grocery store once in
Orlando, fill it with perishable / refrigerated food items you’ll use during your stay,
then add ice from the ice machine at your hotel.
• If you’re a contact lens wearer, pack an extra pair in case you lose one.

Personal Comfort & Safety
• Take a daily photo of young children and teenagers with your digital camera or
camera phone. If you and your child get separated, you’ll have a snapshot of their
attire and an up-to-date image CMs can use to help you locate them.
• Consider creating a “lost kid” card with your name, cell number, and hotel number,
and attaching it to your child’s belt or slipping it into their fanny pack. The
information can be used to help reunite you and your lost child.
• If you prefer something more durable than a “lost kid” card, get a dog tag from one
of those automated dog tag machines, buy ID tattoos (www.safetytat.com), shoe
tags, or wristbands (www.mypreciouskid.com) with this same information.
• If you are a solo traveler or are splitting off from your group, consider adding an
“In Case of Emergency” entry to your phone contact list that has names, numbers,
and email addresses of people that can be contacted in case you suffer some sort
of emergency and are unresponsive. Some first responders now look for entries in
phone contact lists under “ICE”.
• As a precaution, take a picture of the front and back of all of your credit / debit
cards and drivers license. If you lose your wallet, you’ll have the necessary
information to cancel your cards.
• Set a specific location as your “just in case” meeting spot; if your group gets
separated, everyone can head to this spot to meet back up.
• Always wear sunscreen and remember to reapply after water rides, or if you’ve
gotten sweaty.
• Spray on sunscreen before getting dressed and let it dry while styling hair, packing
your in-park bag for the day, etc., so it’s dry by the time you’re ready to leave.
• Use UV sensors, such as “Sun Signals” from SunHealthSolutions.com, that tell you
when its time to reapply your sunscreen.
• Use Body Glide (sold at stores like Dick’s Sporting Goods), deodorant, or some
other anti-chafing treatment for problem spots such as inner thighs before you
head out. Don’t forget to reapply during the day if necessary.
• Gel neckwraps or neck coolers can help you stay cool during the heat of the day.
• Sanitizing gels and towelettes with alcohol are a great way to cool off - the alcohol
is evaporates fast, so wipe down the back of your neck, face, arms, etc., for a quick
cool-down. Just remember to re-apply sunscreen afterwards.
• Use moleskin for blisters and other sore spots. You can find this in the same aisle
as shoe inserts (like Dr. Scholl’s) and foot spray at many stores.
• Don’t forget to bring a pair of scissors to cut your moleskin with (it will not tear).
• If the moleskin and/or band-aids aren’t working for you, try surgical tape. It sticks
better than band-aids and is great for blisters between your toes - wrap a ring of
tape around each toe to stop them from rubbing together.
• Consider using spray deodorant on your feet to keep them comfortable but
remember that moleskin, band-aids, and surgical tape may NOT stick afterwards.
• If you’re coming from a cooler climate and your sinuses will be affected by the
warmer, humid weather in Florida, bring along Sudafed (or your treatment of
choice) from home instead of buying it at inflated park prices.
• Put together a small emergency kit with items (fun band-aids, Polysporin, pain
reliever, CHAPSTICK, moleskin, Pepto tablets / Tums, etc.) and carry it with you
into the park; a small pencil case works well for this.
• First aid kit / emergency items that can stay in your room:
o Dramamine or Bonine (make sure it’s the non-drowsy stuff)
o Sudafed
o Pepto / Immodium
o Non-drowsy cough medicine
o Safety pins
o Small sewing kit
o Extra shoelaces
o Eyeglass repair kit (available at places like Walmart)
• Buy inexpensive, disposable ponchos from places such as dollar stores or Walmart
rather than buying the marked-up ones sold at the parks. Use these during sudden
rainstorms or on water rides.
• Take a small umbrella with you to stay dry during sudden rain showers.
• Be sure to cover your stroller / wheelchair / scooter / beach chair (at the water
parks), just in case of rain. A cheap vinyl tablecloth will work just fine.
• Bring a small, inexpensive handheld fan or fan with a mister to keep cool on hot
days. You can find these at Walmart, Target, or even Disney stores.
• Keep small bottles of hand sanitizer with you to ward off crowd cooties and other
germs, or bring along individually wrapped packets of antimicrobial wipes.
• If you’re going to sit on curbs to watch parades, consider buying an inexpensive
inflatable bath pillow from a dollar store to sit on – your bottom will thank you.
• If you have a “must-see” character but can’t find them, ask one of the character
greeters (the people who accompany the characters) if they can assist you in
getting this information.
