Yikes, ME CM not so "magical"

12 days out and I still have not received my ME information. Not a huge deal since I was thinking about picking my bags up myself anyway but I wanted to call and see what my options are. Apparently - none!

It seems that even though CRO has my address correct ME has it incorrect with the street and telelphone correct but the city, state and zip wrong. It is apparent to me and should have been to the CM that I won't be receiving anything sent to that address.

She refused to re-issue my bag tags and vouchers and told me to "just check in at the ME desk, give over my bag claim tickets and my bags will still arrive via ME".

I can't imagine how this could happen. I am going to grab my bags myself, no big deal and check in with ME. Hopefully my confirmation with magical express confirmed on it will get us on the ME bus.

My dd will be dissapionted however as evidently we will not be getting the "free lanyard and pin" promised when using ME.

Even though I was calm and understood that mistakes happen the CM was a bit rude and quite condesending when I expressed my concerns about sending my baggage without the yellow tags. FWIW I didn't even mention the free pin and lanyard because my dd brought it up later.

Maybe I will try again in a few days for a more cooperative CM.
Any other ideas or suggestions?

CALL DME TODAY 866-599-0951

I think they'll send out new tags as long as your trip is at least 10 days out. Not sure if that's calendar days or business days. Wait a few days and it'll be too late.

As long as you give them your baggage claim numbers Disney can get the luggage. No problems, no worries.

That is the number I called, maybe like CRO sometimes you get someone helpful and knowledgable and othertimes not -

I will try again - thanks.

Uppdate. I called back this afternoon and got a helpful CM.

Unfortunately they won't send me new vouchers or tags but she did assure me that I could still use ME for my dd's and I and for our luggage if I wish. Evidently they can use either your bag claim or the yellow ME bag tags or preferrably both. I will definately use ME but I am leaning toward getting my luggage myself at the carosel and bringing it to ME. I have to handle it myself on the return trip so its not that big a deal.

Has anyone had first hand experience having luggage transported without the yellow ME tags?

Has anyone had experience getting the bags and then going to ME?

I guess I am out of luck with the free pin and lanyard as it is evidently included with the bag tags, oh well. :(

we just returned Sat night and did not use the yellow tags on the return trip. We flew Southwest, which is not a participating airline, so we carried our own bags to the bus. We used the tags on the way down but I figured the tags wouldn't be of any use unless ME was delivering bags to your airline and didn't put them on for the return trip. I could of left them off for the flight down also since ME didn't deliver the bags to our rm, we carried them ourselves so we didn't have to wait for them.

Please tell your daughter that the lanyards are just a solid black and the pin is just a white bus.

Just FYI for everyone, there's no such thing as DME tags for the return trip. It would be useless. The whole reason for the tags is so workers at MCO can pull the bags before they get to the baggage claim carousel. On the way back, if you're flying a participating airline, your bags are "tagged" with the official airline tag (the one with the 3-letter airport code on it) and are delivered to your airline. If you're flying a non-participating airline, you're handling your own luggage and thus there would be no need for a tag, anyway (until, of course, you check in and have that airport code tag put on). DME is confusing enough to some, let's not confuse everyone even more by making them think they need DME tags for the return trip. :goodvibes

Just a quick aside...you are not out of luck with the lanyard/pin. You don't get them in the mail. I now have two of the silly things. When we went in June we got our yellow tags and packet about 4 days before we left. This is where the 'coupon' for the lanyard is. But, when I went in August, I booked DME 5 days before we were going...obviously not enough time to get my packet with all my stuff in it. But, when I checked in at the DME desk, they gave me my packet, with my departure info and the lanyard coupon. You have to turn the coupon in at your resort gift shop. They are the ones with the lanyards.

Eric,
thank you for stating that. The notification we get the day before we depart WDW states that you need to take the ME tags OFF the luggage.
