When we went to DL last month, dh and I had the Costco annual pass vouchers. We each got a $50 gift card from Guest Services. Our 3 kids had hoppers.

At the end of our stay, I upgraded the kids' hoppers to APs. I handed over the gift cards. It took forever, there was a line behind us, and my kids were fired up so I was busy trying to maintain some order. I handed over my 2 gift cards and the lady told me I owed $265. I know, I should have figured it out ahead of time, but I didn't. I paid, she gave me my gift cards back and we went on our way.

I just got out my receipt and noticed that she only credited me for one gift card. Great, I thought, I still have $50 on one of them! But I called and both cards have a 0 balance.

The hoppers had a value of $164. My receipt shows 3 deluxe APs at $807 less 3 hoppers @ $492. Then it says:
TOTAL SALE $315.00
AMOUNT DUE: 265.00
AMOUNT REDEEMED: $50.00
REMAINING BALANCE: 0.00

Apparently, I was only credited with $50 instead of $100, but all of the $100 is gone off the cards. Is there any way to get it back? I can't prove I didn't use the card elsewhere :sad1:

Shouldn't the gift card itself have a phone number on it to call to verify where it was used? If so, then you could prove that both cards weren't used. Since you have a paper trail it shouldn't be too hard to prove. Good luck!

That is too bad. :(
I hope that it can be figured out. For I know that I would not like the idea of losing $50.00. So hopefully, it will all work out in the end. If you are not getting anywhere, try what works for me usually (Not always, sadly) just talk, talk, talk, and fast the appropriate persons ears off, they will most likely give you want you are asking for, so they can shut you up, again, this usually works for me, he he! Seriously :)

Thanks! I didn't even think about calling the number on the card for transaction info. I called it to get the balance but I didn't pay attention to other options. You were right, Dizneydaz! I called and talked to someone who was able to look it up. I've been credited back with my $50! Woohoo!! Thanks again.

Gisele, I have the same tactic! :rotfl: I've taught my oldest that if you don't get the answer you want the first time, keep calling back. If you've called 3 times and spoken to 3 different people who have all given the same answer, then you can think about taking their 'no.' But my experience has been that 90% of the time, I eventually get a 'yes.'

This is totally true! I learned this "skill" in college... in every department from financial aid the registrar, I could always get a yes answer (after several "no's" of course!).

persistance pays!

I worked for years as a cashier. If you got an honest one they were out of balance that night and would love to hear that you are the owner of the extra $50 they ended up with. I would certainly call and tell them what happened.
