yeti will definitely not be fixed??

For anyone who has been in the last couple of weeks....what is the status of the Yeti on EE? Working/not? I would love for my kids to see the proper version on our upcoming June trip.

DANG that's a picture!

Perhaps budget constraints is keeping Disney Corp from repairing the Yeti. Disney would rather spill money into DVC instead of repairing an attraction that is still a headliner in Animal Kingdon Park. The Yeti's lack of proper function has not slowed the amount of visitors to the attraction or AK Park.

To me, the bigger issue is not repairing the Yeti, but instead having space to put all of the people (park-wise) that Disney Corp is putting into their rooms in the DVCs they continue to build. They need to either build-on to what they have or add something new. JMO.

excellent picture

This is ridiculos how much could it possibly cost to fix the yetti? They can afford to sink over a billion dollars into DCA but not fix the yetti! This is just my opinion but the yetti made that ride, the coaster was kind of a let down after all the build up,its not worth it for me to go on without the yetti so for anyone going in Jan there will be one less person in line.

This is frustrating instead of fixing the yetti they down the money on a freaking Stich stage show, need I say more!!!!!:confused3

Then it's stupid to design a ride around a single AudioAnimatronic, they had to have assumed it would need to come out at some point. The car analogy doesn't work because there isn't any other ride besides stich that is designed around a single AA, stupid desicon. If a single AA breaks on SSE or Dinosaur do they shut the whole ride down for an extended period of time? They shoud have designed the ride so he could be taken out easily for matinence. This was bad planning:sad1:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Yeti repairs are not really a cost issue, but rather a downtime issue.
Although frustrating, I can understand their reluctance to take EE out of service for several weeks. That one attraction drives much of AK's attendance. (If they were afraid of what a SM rehab would do to MK's attraction-filled park, imagine the thought of closing 1/4 of AK's E-Ticket rides.)
So they can't rip the yetti out witout closing the ride? If that is true whoever designed the ride should be fiered.:confused3

As of May 21st:
Only things that were working were the front waterfall and the projection.

It's honestly such a mediocre ride when the yeti is broken.

Cloud Effect = Not Working
Station Steam = Not Working
Waterfall A = Working
Waterfall B = Not Working
Bird on a Stick = Not Working
Cave Mist = Not Working
Projection = Working
Yeti AA = Not Working/B-mode
Looking at the list like that, man this thing is getting ridiculous. Its really just a roller coaster now.

Did you really need to start a new thread on this instead of just continuing your rant in the previous thread you started on the same exact subject.
:confused3

I actually rode it that day and only realized that the big yeti wasn't there. It was obvious that was missing, but it was still fun.

I never rode the ride with the working Yeti. Having said that, the current EE is a really good roller coaster with some fun twists and turns. I rode it twice in a row (second time on super-quick single rider line.) Would it be better with the moving Yeti? Maybe. It is still enjoyable as currently is? Yes!

I think I may have only ridden EE once with the Yeti working and it was awesome. The funny thing is, when I rode it a few years later in B mode, I actually just thought I must have remembered the Yeti wrong. Like I made him move in my mind. It wasn't until I went on here that I realized that there were 2 different mode. I still think the ride is great. The sight of the Yeti is pretty good whether or not he moves. Of course it would be great if Disney would be able to fix him, but I think I'd rather ride in B mode than not at all.

As others have mentioned fixing the Yeti is a massive undertaking.

If the concrete has to be excavated and repoured, it is possible that it will be down for a year or more to allow for proper curing (which improper curing could have caused the problem).

The ride is still good without the swiping, so I don't see them taking the ride down for that long.

Oh wow you can even see the giant arm supporting him.

Expedition Everest is my favorite ride. "A" mode is definitely the best and although it's still a wonderful ride in "B" mode, I think it should be fixed. I don't like seeing anything in disrepair. I DO think however, that Disney is smart in not doing it now. They already have closed Space Mountain down for repairs. Finish Space Mountain, then start on our beloved EE.:) All good things come to those who wait.

honestly, you go by so quick you cant tell if theres anything wrong with the yeti or not.
although ive never seen it when he moved it still looked pretty sweet last week when i was there.

If you've never seen it when it moved, how can you possibly tell whether or not there is something wrong with it? If you've seen it in action, you might understand why it's a shame that it hasn't been fixed by now.

Will the Yeti get back to "A" mode? Unfortunately, I will have to say no. Everything I have read has indicated Everest would need some lengthy downtime to fix the Yeti and I do not see this happening until we get some more attractions in Animal Kingdom. Closing Everest would kill attendance there and Disney cannot afford that in 2009.

Yeti AA = Not Working/B-mode
but worst is...

Cloud Effect = WORKING??? or not?
Station Steam = Not Working
Waterfall A = Working
Waterfall B = Not Working
Bird on a Stick = Not Working
Cave Mist = Not Working
Projection = Working
:confused3

The projection is working for now. I guess based on current patterns, if the projector bulb burns out, they will not be replacing it, and there will no longer be a projection of the yeti ripping out the tracks. Just like the mist at the mountain, the bird, the moving yeti, and the water falls. I'm sure they'll give a reason, like the projector is mounted to the foundation and it would damage the ride or cause an extended downtime to replace that bulb. ;)
