I heard the Yeti is not appearing at expedition everest, is this still true?
Yeti is still there, just motionless, and lit by a strobe light.
The Everest Yeti was one of the attraction's "big deals". New and advanced and stuff. Did it break?
We just got back, and this was the first time I was actually able to even see the Yeti. It was really cool. I'm sure the swinging arm woud be cooler, but I'm not complaining, since I didn't even see him on our 2008 trip.
The Yeti, itself, didn't "break," but it is so large and had such a dramatic "action" that the repeated motion of the arm (it made a realistic near-miss "swipe" at every passing ride vehicle) with that
constant back-and-forth motion, caused cracks to develop in the place(s) where the Yeti is mounted/anchored to the "cave."
Apparently, the repairs are so difficult that, to be undertaken, they would require the entire shutdown of the attraction.
Since the motion of the Yeti is not instrumental to the operation of the ride, and since EE is
such a major draw to DAK,
they have not scheduled a shutdown specific to the Yeti repairs.
Word is that when the entire attraction is due for a major refurb, they will attempt to repair
the mountings for the giant Yeti during that time.
Stay tuned.
With Betty you have to know when and where to look. The when is in the last cave and the where is to your right. She is poorly lit, likely on purpose, and it's more a sense of her than seeing any of her wonderful detail we saw when EE first opened. Still, though, the best coaster at Disney. Please forgive me RnRC fans.
So Robo approximately how long did the nYeti last before she broke? I was reading the Wiki entry for EE, and it states that EE is the most costly coaster ever @ $100m.If that's the case, it's just pathetic that don't spend the jack to fix it.

The yeti is officially a girl?
The last known full operating Yeti mode was years ago, a few months after opening, in months following they tried modifying the action to make it not as stressful, it didn't work, she moved of fan one for a while, but it was very sparadic. Occasionally one or two people will just swear the Yeti has moved for them although it has not. If you ever rode EE w/ the full working Yeti you definately know the difference and Disco Yeti isn't even close.

I saw the Yeti move when I rode it during its soft opening. I must admit, it was a lot more terrifying when you could see the whole Yeti and see her move. The difference doesn't take away from the experience, but it does make the ending a little less climatic.
