Yet another WOC seating question

Dd and I will be spending 1 day (the 24th) at DL as a quick side trip from her national gymnastics competition. This is most likely a once in a lifetime thing as we are from MI and with a family of 7, California is just too expensive for us to travel, we do WDW about once a year. I want to be able to do all the things at DL that we can't do at WDW which obviously includes WOC. However since we only have one day, I am concerned about having to invest a whole lot of time prior to the show in order to have good viewing. How do the FP for WOC work? We will be at the park for rope drop so that would not be an issue. Would we be better off going with either the meal at AG, if available) or the picnic? Dd is 10 so I want to make sure she is able to see the show.

Thanks in advance for the info. I have been trying to read through all the WOC threads and this is all probably spelled out there but I couldn't find it.

If you want to be in the "view area" you must have a fastpass. Rather than spend time in line for one first thing in the morning, I would go with either a dinner package or the cheaper picnic meal which seems to be a good deal. If you are only there for one day and want to see both parks, don't forget you need a park hopper since WOC is in DCA and you won't want to spend all day at that park and miss DL. :)

If I do the picnic, how early do I need to get to the entrance of the seating area?

Here is a link to my DIS blog about my family's experience with the WoC picnic option. It should answer many of your questions. We really enjoyed the picnic dinner and show. :)

I'm wondering the same thing... We have picnic meals already purchased for next Friday, the 25th. I guess it's a good sign that there are still meals available for every day that we're there. If we want to be at a railing so that my kids can see (littler ones), what time should we arrive to get in line to go in?

Are they even HAVING WOC on the 24th? That is a grad night and I thought the parks closed early that night??? I know that is why we picked to go on wed. I would be courious myself if they are. I thought DCA closed pretty early but I could be wrong. I have never been during a grad night but I have "heard" that both parks close fairly early and since usually WOC doesn't start till 9 I don't see how they can have one that night???

The schedule says two woc shows on the 24th. That's the night we are doing the fantasmic package. Hopefully it will be a little less crowded at DL because woc will also be showing.

Are they still doing a third show every night too? If so, could we do that one with less of a wait or get FP for it?

The schedule shows two shows that night. I don't think they will do a third show because of grad night. It says the park closes at 10:00.

The pain about the third show, if they do one, is knowing when to be by the FP machine. They only announce it in DCA, and there is no way to know when the machine goes from 2nd show to 3rd show. All this conditioned on the actual showing of a 3rd show.

Mama Steph - We will also be at Nationals! Since we're from the East Coast we decided to vacation at DL the following week. Good luck at Nationals and enjoy your visit to DL!

Keep in mind if you are "on the railing" you will get soaked. Be sure your little ones can handle this, otherwise I recommend standing farther away on the steps where people in front of you would be a step down lower.

Thanks for the advice-I definately don't want to get soaked! So, we should be at the front of the steps? Does every color section have steps? I am having a hard time trying to figure out where to stand. Will it all just come to me when we're there? I am glad we have spots already (picnic package) but I want to make sure we get good spots so that the kids can see. My dh is tall (6'4") and I am normal height (5'4"). Even with me holding our two year old, I don't know that she'd see much w/o being in the front row of a section.

I think what a lot of people mean by "on the rail" is the "rail" or front for that section or tier and not necessary at the very front of the entire viewing area.

yup. each tier has a "rail" these are the best sports to view from if you dont want an obstructed view from someone tall

FWIW there have been discussions on this forum about June 24 and DCA staying open late. Many of us (including me) think it is a mistake on the calendar since it is a grad night. Someone should call Disney to find out. Also, try calling Disney Dining and see if they are taking reservations for WOC dining that night. :)

They have picnic dinners available for that night on the website. Not sure about the preferred dining though.

See Hydro that is what I thought I heard as well was that on grad nights DCA closed at 6 and DL closed at 9. But the calendar doesn't say that so I am confused. I know we purposely planned on leaving the parks early that night because we thought everything was going to be closed early???

I would be curious to know as well.

*Someone* here. :wave2:

The operator confirmed that the hours on the web site (9pm for DL and 10pm for DCA) are correct.

The CM at Disney Dining said that I could make a reservation for either AG or WoC for the 10:15pm dining package for that evening, provided that space is available (of course).

Hope this helps,
