Yet another ticket bridging question.....

Hi all,

Nobody I talk to on the phone seems to know the answer, so I figured I'd ask here and you guys would probably know!!

We are purchasing Star Wars Half Marathon bibs through a travel agent and buying the discounted run Disney package with room and tickets. Nobody knows exactly what the discount amounts to between room and tickets, but there is some magical discount on each, I just get the final price. Not too bad - about $2200 for bibs, tickets, and a room. The race is in April pfn2017

However, we are also going in December of 2016 for 7 days. I hate to buy tickets for December and April, I'd rather just do an annual pass. So, here is what I am wondering.

1) Can I use my April 2017 package tickets in December of 2016 (even if I have to already have paid in full....)

2) If I can use my April 2017 tickets in December of 2016, I plan to upgrade them to an annual pass so we can get into the parks in April. I know I can upgrade tickets to an annual pass after I use it once, but my question is can I price bridge it? I have no idea what the "discount value" of the ticket is, but ideally I'd love for them to price bridge it to be full gate price, and, in addition, I'd like to be able to prepare ahead of time to know how much to expect to pay to upgrade. So, bridging on a discounted Disney package ticket? Yes, no?

No. Tickets that are purchased as part of a package are not valid/active until your April check-in date.

You'll need to check with the TA to confirm that you have purchased a Disney vacation package versus a room-only plus separate ticket as part of the TA bib package.

Who did you book your package with? I am planning a trip that week and would love to run my first Disney race!

Agree. I'd check with your TA; if they can send you active tickets pre-December, it will work. If not, I'd buy APs in December and hold onto the April tickets for a post-2017 trip.

You need to talk to your TA and find out what type/kind of tickets they sold you. They may not be the type than can be upgraded even if you were able to get them that far ahead of time. They also may only be good for certain dates and may not be able to be used in the future. If they are discounted there are usually restrictions on what you can do with them.

Just my 2 cents, but I would call and cancel the tickets (If you can) in 2017 and buy the AP.

We have no way of judging whether you are getting a "not too bad" deal,
or are getting the "royal shaft," as you didn't say
for how many days are the tickets' validity,
whether they are park hoppers,
whether they are Water Parks Fun and more,
at which resort you are staying,
at what "level" of accommodations,
how many people are involved,
what ages of the guests,
and for how many days is your resort stay.

The "value" (like the proverbial devil) is in the details.

We bought a soccer package, very similar to the race packages and those tickets were not upgradable at all.

So take this poster's advise and check into your options.

I am almost certain you cannot get the run tickets ahead of time. But I don't think they are the same as the Sports tickets anymore, in that they can be kept, used later, etc.

Contact the TA you got the bib from.

But for instance, through Acclaim Travel, the Stones have the following info:

Annual Passholders will still have to purchase a Theme Park Ticket with their package, but submit your AP number now, and after the event concludes, please call us and I will explain to you your Theme Park Ticket options for unused Theme Park Ticket.
