I am sure this has been asked a million times but I tried to do a search and did not find my answer. I am not able to wrap my head around how Rider Swap works without Fast Passes. For background, we are traveling with 11 people. One morning we have an early breakfast at Garden Grill and since we could not get a FP for Soarin' our plan was to go right from breakfast to Soarin' and ride standby with the hopes that the line will not be terrible. Everyone in the party is tall enough to ride but my 1 year old. If we go to the CM, show the CM my daughter, will 3 people in the party (including me who will wait with her while the others ride) get to scan our bands and then essentially have a FP for Soarin' for a certain time period? Or is it required that you have a FP to get a rider switch? Not sure why i cannot seem to grasp this new concept! Thanks!

Rider switch can be used with or without a FP+. The ones that wait with the non-rider will enter through the FP+ line regardless of which line the first group went through.

Correct. They will give the three non-riders a rider swap pass that allows them to enter via the fastpass queue for one hour starting approximately when the first group is expected to get off the ride (they look at the wait time, then add a bit of time for the amount of time it will take for any pre-show plus the ride, and set the start time for your rider swap pass based on that estimate). What it basically means is the first group will wait in standby, and when they are done riding, the second group will ride via the fastpass queue.
