Yet another question about MYW free Dining

Our family has booked a Grand Gathering with 10 day MYW free dining package. My DW and I were planning on renewing our PAP's for this trip. The question is, can DW and I use the free dining durring our stay, use our PAP for admission, and save our 10 day MYW admission tickets for the future; and if so, I understand that we must make sure not to use our room key in any turnstyles or FP locations, but we will need to use them when dining, is this going to be a problem.

I was told that this was possible. The CM who sold me the package said yes, but then I heard the opposite so I called back and that CM confirmed with guest services. As long as the room key/pass does not get put through the turnstyle at a park, it will not expire. It expires 14 days from the first day it is put through a turnstyle. Using the card for dining will not impact the 10 day MWY portion of the card.

With free dining there isn't any limit on the days of park entry....book a single day entry, that way you qualify for the free dining. Then buy your PAP that way you can park hop which you can't do with park entry with the free dining..

The only reason I am getting the 10 day is because the other 12 people in our group don't have AP's, and we all have to have the same package. I'll end up with the 10 day so that everyone else doesn't have to upgrade from 1 day to 10.
This free dining plan is amazing, the group I'm bringing has never been to WDW. They're going to be spoiled.

Are you renewing your PAP when you get to WDW? If so, take your 10-day ticket and turn it in towards your PAP renewal.

Our PAP's expire 7 days before our visit.
Can I wait 'til then to upgrade the 10 day to PAP w/ DVC discount without affecting dining plan?

I'm not sure you can upgrate/renew after it's expired already. You'd probably do best to call about this to get the final word on that from Disney themselves.

Personally I would probably ask about if the 10 day tickets expire if you haven't used them at all- if they tell you they don't expire until after you have used it the first time (in other words that's when the countdown of the 10 days starts)- I'd save it to use at another time or maybe even ask... couldn't you get the 10 day ticket upgraded to have "non expiration" on it? Might be a minimal cost to do that and you've had 10 days to use later. personally even if I was going to USE the 10 day ticket- I wouldn't like the fact that it expires 14 days after the first use... because what if I didn't use all 10 days? We have stayed 10 day and 12 day trips and still didn't do TEN days in the parks! We don't just do park after park day after day. We do water parks, DTD, DisneyQuest, PI, etc. while there.

If it were me I'd call and see what my options were and which saved me the most money. If it saves a lot on upgrading the tickets to renewing PAP and you're able t do that after your PAP has expired... I'd do that. If not- I'd find out if the tickets expire if you don't use them at all during this trip- if so, I'd find out how much it cost to add non-expiration to the 10 days. :) (assuming ofcourse you plan on going again in the future?)
