Please pardon my ignorance Hydroguy...I looked at those posts you recommended and am still very unclear. Could you please break it down for me? Is there some sort of gate you need to go through to get to the viewing area that's only accessable with a pass? Can you get in there without a pass if the show is under-capacity? Is there anywhere you can just wander over to and stand to see the show? (This last one is how I remember doing Illuminations).

How do I see World of Color?

At this time you need to either get a dining reservation, a picnic reservation or a Fastpass. When WOC holds a late, 11:15 show, apparently there is often room for people without FPs to see the show.

DISNEY has caused a lot of confusion by not being constant in the use of the terms

I did not want to repost your whole quote but I want to say, DISBOARD PEOPLE SO TOTALLY ROCK MY WORLD. Thank you SO MUCH for your detailed and consistent help. I just realized recently (yea, I know that's dumb) that this was a super long thread and started reading from the begining (somehow I had it that it was a new thread since I had visited "last page" from the other menu) and EVENTUALLY (about an HOUR AND A HALF on one day not to mention a few other 15-30 min sessions of study over the last few weeks) later I think I had pegged down all the information you just summarized above BUT it was sure nice to have it confirmed.

Again, you are so totally awesome and I am so very appreciative of the time and effort and kindness of so many people.

YES... They block off the entire area before the show. You MUST have a pass to get into the viewing area.

Can you get in there without a pass if the show is under-capacity?
NO.. IT IS VERY VERY SELDOM THAT IT IS UNDER-CAPACITY. And, it will be sold out every show beginning next month.
There will be up to 90,000 guests trying to get 4,000 passes/show.
[Exception, if you wait 10 minutes after the start of the 25 minute last show, then you can stand behind everyone and see the upper parts of the show.]

NO... not unless you want to see only a small part, blocked view, backwards view with stuff in the way, or show up 2 hours early and fight 100 people for a view next to Arials Grotto from the far side.

I never understand why people will refuse to spend a short time to get a FREE WOC fastpass, and then expect to get a good view of a sold out show.

In my opinion only... Just get FREE Fastpasses then decide if you want to wait to get into the show, or show up when it starts with a fastpass and have a better view than outside the viewing area.
