Yet another Pop Century review--12/5-12/10

What is Pop Warner? New at this and am planning trip in Dec 2005

Pop Warner is a kids football league (ages 9-13 I think - although it sometimes goes by weight), every year they are invited to WDW for competions and fun. I have scheduled our 2005 vacation for 12/3-12/10, not realizing that this was Pop Warner week. I also booked POP on the advice of the WDW Rep.

After reading these postings, I am starting to really get scared!!! I am a family of 6 and value resorts are my only way to afford a vacation.

Please someone out there tell me that Pop Warner Week at POP is not the end of the world!!!!!

I think you guys are doing some wishful thinking saying that there is a Pop Warner "week." DH and I were at the All Stars a few years ago in MARCH and the place was crawling with them. It was awful.

(Most of the references in this post seem to be regarding December.)

Quick question to those who stayed at POP did you put a cc down to do room charging? I was recentlly told that they changed the limit for values to $500 is this true? Thanks for your help. I enjoyed your review of the POP my DH wants to stay there this time around. I'll make sure there are NO cheerleaders there at that time though LOL!!!

Hi: Is there some sort of schedule that I can look at to see when these pop warner cheerleaders/footballers will be there for 2005/2006? Hubby and I would like to plan a trip, but would like to avoid all this mayhem.

Charging at the values is indeed $500 but once you use that amount you can pay tose charges and they will give you another $500.

Values have always been $500. Once you reach that limit, your card gets charged, and you will recieve a new $500 limit.

Going to POP in July as I thought no large groups were allowed. Now a little bothered about other groups which are known to visit in the summer months -main reason for not booking ASMo as there were problems for us caused by these groups in July 2003.

Should we switch resorts?

P.S. POP in October was great - no problems at all.

They have a web site http://www.popwarner.com/articles/December05.asp that identifies when they are going to be there. We are booked for POP this week. I talked to DW and we agreed that based on all the bad news we heard, we are going to change our date to the week before. I am only hoping we can get a decent airfare!!!

Groups are not forbidden from booking Pop Century. If that's what they want to book, they can. HOWEVER, the majority of the large groups will be directed to the All-Stars. Some overflow MAY end up at Pop Century, or other moderate level resorts including Caribbean, Port Orleans, and even Coronado Springs.

I see by your chart that dec 4 th week has pop warner superbowl at wideworld of sports. That is a week friends were going to go down. So I guess that would be a bad week to pick. How many times in a year do these pop warner people get to go to wdw? I have never heard of them before. Is there really that many of the groups. Just wondering.
