Yet Another Memory Maker Question (or ten)

I've searched and read many threads, listened to the recorded messages at WDW, and more, but still have a few questions.

If I purchase MM now (we're headed to WDW in about a month), all I need to do is "link" it to MDE and will have access to the photos for when we go, right? Associated with my MDE is DH, DD4, DF and DstepM. We are staying in different rooms and have different departure dates. After 4 days, DM and DstepF will join us. My mother's MDE is linked to mine, but when I look at hers, only my name appears on hers--not DH or DD. Not sure what I did there.

So...
Who would have the ability to receive/see the photos taken? Will all of the original 5 of us on MDE all have access or just me? Does it get linked to ONE magic band (like, mine)? I just need to scan my band prior to a photo being taken to have it 'loaded' and associated with my MDE?

What about buying an archive CD? Do we do that before, during or after the trip? Anything I can take care of in advance is best.

Once you buy MM, that gives you the photo rights, but you still have to pay to order prints? ... I can print them myself, upload to a photo site, or burn my own DVD?

All help is appreciated. :coffee:

In MDE, you need to look at your family and friends list and Edit each person so that you have selected "Jane (or Sue, or Dave) can view and purchase your Photopass Photos" for each person. They should go into their own MDE and make sure they do the same to their family and friends lists. In this way, you can ALL get pictures of yourselves captured into one Memory Maker account. Anyone in the group can have their magic band scanned by a photopass photographer or ride a ride that takes photos and they will appear in your memory maker for everyone to see.

After the trip, you will have access to download any and all digital files of your pictures and can burn a CD yourself all for the price you already paid. If you want Disney to burn the CD for you, it is an extra cost. The Photopass site has edits you can make to your pictures such as borders, character signatures, stickers. You can add these free also. Make sure you "save a copy" as you add these, so that you have the original photo and an extra copy with the edits. The site is a bit slow and cumbersome, but I think it's a great keepsake and really worth it.

After your trip, you have 45 days to edit and download your pictures before they expire. You can purchase an extension if necessary. As the owner/purchaser of MM, even though your whole group can SEE all the pictures, only YOU can download them for free. You'll either need to give your login to your family so they can edit and download on their own, or you'll need to burn a CD for them. If they make edits while logged in under their own name, they must *Buy* the download - edits need to made in your login if you want them included free.

I really wanted to make a digital photo book with Disney pages. Unfortunately, the photopass site does have a photo book option, but it is nowhere near as easy to use as customizable sites like Shutterfly. I wish Disney would partner with someone so you could use Disney borders and pages but still have an easy-to-use (and cheaper) book editor tool. However, I just added lots of borders and effects to my MM pictures using the Photopass site, downloaded all the shots, and picked brightly colored pages on Shutterfly - with the stickers and borders, it still looks plenty Disney and turned out great.

Last tip - if you do something like Enchanted Tales with Belle or Jedi Training Academy, you'll receive a card with a code to link the photos taken of *all* participants, not just your family. Take this card to a Photopass shop (near the entrance of each park, and at DTD) they can quickly and easily select only tyour family from the photos and load only those to your account. You can enter a code and load the pictures yourself, but you cannot select certain pictures - yo'll get all the strangers too. Photopass site is a bit slow to scroll thru and you don't want all those Extra shots if you can help it.

Sorry so wordy - hope that helps!

So if I understand correctly, anyone showing up under my "family" list can scan their bands to have a photo linked and can see any pictures taken for this account?

Also...do they usually have photographers at "Meet character" locations, like "Meet Ariel at her Grotto" for example?

Thanks.

Any one in your group can scan their band, you don't even have to all be together at the time. And yes, when they log in to their own MDE, they can see their own pictures, your pictures, the whole group. Only the purchaser of MM can download them free, though.

Most character meets do have a Photopass photographer and usually take quite a few shots of the whole character interaction, not just the moment when you're posed and looking at the camera. A very few characters do not have their own photographer - we met Alice in Epcot without one. I'm not sure if this is an occasional glitch or the photog was on a break, or just the way some characters work.

If you have any character meals where they come to your table, you do not have Photopass photogs there - just you and your own camera.

At the risk of high jacking a thread, can I ask a quick question as well? We have used Photopass and photopass+, so I know MOST of the details. However, is it true that you don't have to go to a photopass booth now, like you did with PP+ to activate it? It is now automatic once you link it to MDE?

If you have magic bands, photos are automatically linked, you just walk away from the ride and photos appear later in your account! If no bands, you still need to stop and get the shots scanned to your photopass card.
