Yet ANOTHER Golden Compass thread

Awww shoot...Well...you wanted it. ;)

ahem...

"COMING THIS FALL TO A THEATER NEAR YOU! A computer generated cartoon movie by some second rate animation studio that is not nearly as good of quality as PIXAR about a woodchuck/bug/snail/algae played by Adam Sandler/ Paul Riser/ Gary Schandling/ Carrot Top who's habitat is being destroyed by man/woman/corporation/the space aliens from The Simpsons . The underdog character goes on a journey with his friends who are unnecessarily urban sounding for being in the middle of nowhere and are played by Queen Latifa/ Lil' Kim/ Whoopi Goldburg/ Bobby Brown. Together they infiltrate the humans and teach them and the theatergoers to love/keep the environment clean/say really stupid catch phrases/ buy their children expensive catch phrase saying toys.

Brava! :lmao:

jekajekalynn--thanks for agreeing with me:thumbsup2 It hardly ever happens that someone likes what I have to say:lmao: I have to admit I am not familiar with teh mini series you reference (we do not get a TV feed into the house) but it seems this problem is running rampant these days.
My for the reords thing is this: I have nothing against cool special effects. If they ENAHNCE the STORY I think they are fabulous. But they should never be the focus or overshadow the story (IMO). The Golden Compass is (again IMO) a really good book with a unique and thought provoking plot and good characters. The movie is okay but loses the moment too often by lapsing into the currently in vouge show off the effects thing.

That's what I hear the new DC is going to be like. Subtle cgi landscapes but all "Hard" effects.

Ohh and Trust me..you ain't missing anything when it comes to that mini series. :rolleyes1 I guess they put some REALLY good actors like Richard Dryfus , Alan Cumings etc to disguise the fact that the lead chicks acting sucked royally . :rotfl:

I'm not going to see this movie, but it is because this type of movie is not
cup of tea!! However, I am going to see Alvin and the Chipmunks!!

I like romantic movies, and comedies. I've never seen any of the Harry Potter movies or Lord of the Rings. Not because I think they send any kind of "bad" message, but because they just don't interest me!

I have no plans to see it for two reasons. 1) We don't usually go to the movies and 2) It's just not my type of movie. However with all the brou-ha-ha surrounding, I almost want to go see it in hopes of infuriating my MIL. :lmao:

Any more treatments? You have it down to a science!!

I have never heard of the books & thus have no interest in the movie.

Yes..as the title states, this is ANOTHER GC thread. ;)

Ok , my question is, is there anyone out there NOT seeing it for reasons other than purely religious purposes? It seems that is the reason for most ppl's boycot has to do with something to do with some sort of religious reason. I don't know, I can't keep up with this stuff. lol

It seems no one however, is boycotting it because it is yet ANOTHER Hollywood massed-produced kiddy fantasy movie. Ughhh... I am as sick of this movie formula as I am of 3d cartoon feature length movies.

Jeeze... I might as well come up with my own "blockbuster"!!

observe:
"COMING THIS SUMMER!!! Watch as a precocious 8 year old girl/boy with a British accent goes on a journey with a CGI created bear/lion/puma/naked mole rat in search of the truth/a compass/a mass marketed plastic toy tie-in from China available at Target . Along the way they will have many one line catch phrases in front of green screened scenery and be guided by Patrick Stewart/ Gary Sinise/ Steve Buscemi . Be sure to see the sequel because we made 5 already!!"

What, no Robin Williams? I'm out a here.

Ok...Here is my "Love is Nice" movie with the working title "You Go Girl!"

Coming Soon in Theaters this Spring!!

*cue generic girl group music from the 60s*
"This spring learn to love again as a syrupy sweet quirky 30 something woman from New York/Chicago/Miami/ Fargo played by Meg Ryan/Julia Roberts/Sandra Bullock/Bea Aurthur finds love in the unlikeliest of places.
She is a writer/clothing designer/small business owner/ cable installer who is unlucky in love until she finds it in the arms of a extremely yawningly bland, nonthreatening male lead who is played by Patrick Dempsey/Josh Holloway/Andy Sandburg .
Along there path to love they find even though they are different they are so alike . *cue female lead dancing in the mirror into a hair brush* They exchange cutesy stupid dialog with jokes that are insulting to the intelligence of the audience but for some reason a lot of women who should really know better , enjoy. False suspence in the movie is created when the overpaid female lead misunderstands something that the bland male lead does, and the audience buys into this dreck. Of course, at the end they end up together...Which anyone with a third of a brain knew was going to happen anyways. Be sure to take your husband so he can be bored to tears only to liven up when he sees the female lead in her underpants." ;)

I'm not going to see it because it looks boring, just not my kind of movie. The big controversy surrounding makes me not want to see it even more, as I don't want to get caught up in all that kayrap. I'm going to spend my $12 on seeing Will Smith in I Am Legend!:thumbsup2

Well I got a lovely email about GC today warning of it's dangers. I told the sender I would make sure and send her a warning email the next time a Paulie Shore movie comes out. :thumbsup2

Everyone keeps referring to e-mails...who are they from? I have yet to receive one....and I get about 200 junk e-mails a day.
