Yet another FP+ question

Are FP+ tied to your resort reservation? For example, if you book your FP+'s at 60 days out and then cancel your resort reservation and rebook for the same time period (perhaps different resort) would you lose your FP+ reservations?

To be safer, I'd book the second reservation before canceling the first one.
