I'll be in DW with my son (8) and daughter (4). She wants to meet characters and my son does not. Can I get a fastpass for me and her only. Will he be able to wait with us on line, but not take pics. This way, he can get a fast pass for a ride he likes. If not, how long does the line (FP) usually take to meet,,,let's say Anna & Elsa or Cinderella??? Would it be alright for him to sit in the line waiting area???? Not sure if it's worth it to split them or just drag (literally) him to see these ladies. lol

He'll need a FP+ to enter the character line. The only way to split up the FP+ would be to leave your 8 year old out in the park unattended while you meet the characters.

Sorry.

FP are a must for Elsa and Anna and strongly suggested for Cinderella and Rapunzel. The wait for Elsa and Anna last week was 120 minutes within 15 minutes of park opening and it was 220 minutes later in the early afternoon. Cinderella was only 20 minutes at park opening but was 90 minutes in the afternoon.

FP line for Elsa and Anna still took 30 minutes but we went straight in to see Rapunzel and Cinderella with FPs.

In order to get into the FP line you have to have a FP, even if you don't intend to take part in that attraction. Fast Pass for Anna & Elsa is a MUST.

For Cinderella & Rapunzel a FP is strongly recommended. When we went the Stand By line for Cinderella & Rapunzel was 55 minutes. With our Fast Pass we were in and out in about 15 minutes.

FP FAQs (including this one) are answered in the green link in my signature.
