Back in late March, I made reservations with National using my DC discount and a coupon for an Intermediate Emerald Aisle car for my trip in September. ($120 for the week, which includes taxes - WOO HOO!!). Anyway, I know some of their rules changed, and that you are supposed to go to the counter if you have a coupon. However, since I made my reservation before the change and my reservation says "proceed directly to the Emerald Aisle to choose your vehicle" are they going to give me a hassle at the checkout booth since I have a coupon? Just want to make sure I don't get the runaround!

If it is an upgrade coupon then you have to go to the counter. If it is a coupon for a free day or a dollar amount off, then you do not have to go to the counter and you do exactly what the reservation tells you to do.

I used an Entertainment Book Coupon in May with an EA reservation with no problem ($20 off). I handed them the coupon at the booth on the way out.
