Ok, first off I love Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain. Road Rock 'n' Roll Roller Coaster once, didn't like that at all, and that final plunge on Splash Mountain was a little rough on me....so will I have a problem with Expedition Everest? Speed is no problem, fast turns and banks no real problem either. Steep drops are a problem, but I am thinking, since it is in the dark, and since it is backwards....is it as bad?

Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful

Hi, we just got back and road it yesterday (infact we were running late for the airport because DH and I had to ride before leaving.)

A fellow diser we ran into said her DH got motion sickness from it. So much so he left to rest at the resort. She was surprized.

It does really whip you around in the dark. I can see how it would make someone a bit quessy.

Personaly DH and loved it. It was a mix between rocken roller coster and BTM. I think my 40 inch DD who loves BTM would of been scared.

I say give it a try at least once so you know for yourself. It is a very good ride.

We just returned today. This coaster is a MUST DO! It is my all-time favorite disney ride. It gave me motion sickness because I rode it twice in a row. The backwards drop is not very far and it is more spinning than any drop. It is much more tame that RNR! And much more fast than Big Thunder. Only one front drop towards the end that isn't too bad. It looks worse from the ground watching.

DON'T MISS IT. YOU WILL LOVE IT. I'M NOT A FAN OF BIG DROPS EITHER AND I COULD'VE RIDDEN IT ALL DAY. Just the motion sickness got me!

I'm the only one I know who really had a rough time with this one. I will say though the as was pointing out it's the spinning backwards in the dark that's tough. The outside drop that you see really isn't as bad as it looks because it does loop around back up.

i'm another whimpy head who had a hard time with the backwards part...so much so i gave away 2 fastpasses to people who were last in line b/c once was enough.
i felt motion sickness for about 20 minutes after the ride. alot of people seem to have no problem with the backwards part at all.

I'm a bit of a ride wimp myself and I really loved EE. When you think you are going to drop, you don't and the one big drop happens well into the ride when you least expect it! For me, the drops are worse when I get all worked up waiting for it, like the big hill climb on Splash! If it just happens unexpectedly, like on EE, it's over before you realize what's happening.
I found the backwards part to be a breeze! I must confess that when I got off the ride the first time, I was shaking. But, I went right back in line for a second ride! :thumbsup2

My DD5, who will be 6 by our next trip, is tall enough to ride EE. She has ridden TOT and liked it. I am a little concerned about EE maybe being too rough? I am wrong about that? What are your thoughts?

Thanks

I'm a huge ride wimp, I always loved BTMR but was afraid of Space Mtn, I still won't ride Splash, etc.
EE was SO cool!!! Like previous posters said, the one real frontwards drop occurs towards the end of the ride and isn't as bad as you think it will be, it banks at the end and curves back up so it's not a straight drop. The backwards part is so cool, the drop is barely anything, the real thril is that it starts curving uphill sharply as you go backwards... kinda like a backwards, uphill corkscrew. It almost feels like you are going upside down because it's such a different sensation doing it backwards. I think it's a definate must try, if you don't like it then you never have to ride it again... and you may just love it like this ride wimp!

To Polyaddict, let her ride EE, it's much less dropping that TOT and I think if you can handle TOT you can handle pretty much anything else Disney can throw at you! Just warn her about the Yeti, at one point it looks as though he is going to reach down and grab the car as it passes under his hand, tell her no matter how much it looks like he's going to get the car... he never gets that close and he's fake.

I just rode this the other day and I am another one who got motion sickness after this ride. I thought it was a great coaster but I did feel quite ill afterwards for awhile. The drops don't bother me as much. I can do BTM without a problem but EE got me. Not much room for any recovery time which I feel I get on BTM. EE is fast moving and long but it is a smooth ride. It is now my DD and DS's favorite ride so I guess I will have to go again next time we visit or talk DH into it.

Thanks for the feedback. She has seen pictures and all and we have dicussed the yeti. I think she will be ok. She goes back and forth each day on whether she wants to ride in November.

Your likes/dislikes sound very much like mine. I also love BTMRR & Space Mountain. But I also love Splash. I've ridden RnR exactly twice and that's once too many. Did EE last week and thats probably the last time I'll do that one.

This really did remind me of a smoother, faster BTMRR. My stomach does a flip-flop on Splash but NOT on EE. The place where you can watch the train coming off EE makes the drop look much worse than I experienced it. And the backwards section feels like the train is going UP a helix (coil). I did feel blood rushing to my feet on the backwards piece, but nothing awful. Give it a try, and if it's too intense at least you can say you did it. And maybe buy the pic for proof!

Thanks everyone for the great advice. DH and I decided that we are going to give it a try. I am not very worried about getting dizzy, we don't live very far from Six Flags Great America and it has always been a habit of mine to take a dramamine before I go to any amusement park, I figure better safe than sorry. They even make a non drowsey formula now so you don't have to worry about being sleepy all day! It really helps when you are ridding things that spin you around especially on days when it is really hot. :thumbsup2

I rode EE 3 times last week...it was not bad at all...we rode twice in a row and then went back for a 3rd ride. I was actually a little surprised, it is a great ride, but I was expecting a bit more of a "thrill" -- it was a bit tamer than I was expecting. A combination of RNR and BTMRR is a good comparison. I really loved EE, but I think I still prefer RNR. I do get motion sickness, but nothing from EE...the backwards part is similiar to the forwards take off on RNR. - You GOTTA try at least once!

I'm SCARED but I am going to do it. I HATE drops, I mean hate them. But I have to try it once. Drops just send my heart into a tizzy.

I am prone to motion sickness. I took 2 Bonine the day we rode it. I did TOT, BTMR, Splash, Space Mountain etc., without getting that sick feeling. EE made me feel yucky :( At one point it jerked my neck and I had a hard time holding my head straight up. My dh, ds 8, dd 6, all liked it and did fine on it. I tried it once and that was enough for me :sad2:

My dd just turned 6. TOT freaked her out but she loved EE. I was the complete opposite! LOL

Honestly, there really isn't a big drop on EE. It LOOKS like there will be, you do go up a steep hill, but at the top of the hill is a small drop that banks, no actual drop like you would think at the top of the hill you see.

Add me to the list of EE wimps. It really did a number on my stomache, so much so that I wouldn't do ANY other rides in AK that day, not KS, not TS, 2 of my favorite. I was really looking forward to it, and was thrilled that when I got there, the FP return time was only an hour away and the stand-by wait was only 20 minutes. So I grabbed a FP and hopped into the stand-by line. They say you only go backwards for about 15 seconds, but it seemed like forever to me. After about 10 seconds, I just closed my eyes and prayed that the ride would end soon. Needless to say, I made someone very happy giving him the FP when I got off the ride. No way was I ever going on it again! Two days later, DH (who'd been golfing during my "experience") tried it, and he loved it-he couldn't believe it made me sick. Kids on the ride with him were on their fifth ride!
