Yet another ebay question

The company my DH works for has recently opened an ebay store. The store has only been open for about 2 months and his feedback is new and growing. They have a paypal account but it is set up for non-credit card purchases only because they do have a credit card machine in the small retail store and do not want to pay the paypal fees for credit card payment.

A buyer made a "buy it now" purchase last week. The listing clearly states the payment instructions to be paypal (non-credit card only) and if they are paying by credit card it gives a phone number to call to give the information over the phone. Well, of course the buyer paid by credit card in Paypal and my DH denied the payment. The buyer said she didn't know how to pay using paypal without a cc and she would send a money order. At this time my DH gave her options (a phone number or fax number to give cc information, an address to mail MO and instructions on transfering money into her paypal account to make payment). He even assured her that her cc information would be safe as they are a reputable company (which I understand she doesn't know that). Well, today she has emailed him and said just to forget about the whole thing and she doesn't want the item anymore if she is going to have to go out to get a money order.

What would you do? Leave negative feedback and request a final value fee credit? Or ignore it since the ebay store is so new and not risk negative feedback on his end? Or remind her that it is ebay's policy for the buyer to pay for the item purchased?

Remind her first

If no reply, post negative feedback and request a final value credit

She could always use www.bidpay.com if she wants. It is a site run by Western Union that will send a Money Order out to the seller. It sounds like she needs to use a CC but is leery of giving a stranger from the 'net that info. Bidpay would solve that problem although they do charge a service chg.

The bottom line is the item should have the stated payment policy in the listing which I'm sure it does and if she's breaking that policy then he should be entitled to leave neg feedback and request a NPB. That's the way it is. If she READ he didn't accept PAYPAL cc payments then she shouldn't have bid.

Unfortunately I know he risks having neg feedback left for him, but she's the one to watch out for. He can just respond to her neg feedback by saying she didn't follow payment policies stated in the auction. (and he's even tried to work with her on this-he didn't have to). And, for her to turn around and say she would get a money order and then change her mind and say forget it and then didn't want to get one, c'mon...btw how is her feedback???

Good luck with it:D

She has 100% positive feedback but only 9 purchases.

Thanks for all the info. I agree that if the auction stated the payment policy and she didn't follow that she is at risk for negative feedback. My husband just is concerned she will do the same. At least he can reply to her feedback if it comes to that.

Not sure what he is going to do yet.
