Yet another ebay question

I don't know what to do to resolve this issue with Ebay. Maybe it's nothing for me to worry about, if so, just tell me I'm being a nervous nelly. I've never had this kind of problem before.

On August 31, I bought a Latin textbook on a buy it now for my high school DD. The listing said that the seller had 2 available. As soon as I clicked by it now, I went to paypal and made the payment immediately.

Over the weekend, I got an email from Paypal that the seller had refunded my payment. I have since verified that on my Paypal account.

The seller did NOT contact me.

The seller still has the book listed under buy it now, with two available. My Ebay status page tells me that I have purchased this item, but have not yet paid for it.

Edit to add: I looked on ebay to see if I can cancel the sale, and it appears that only the seller can do so.

I am assuming that the seller does not actually have the book, and wants to cancel the sale, but so far, she has not cancelled the sale. Nor has she told me something like "I'm looking for it", nothing it all.

I did send her a message via the ebay message center, but still haven't gotten a response.

I really need to get hold of this book for my DD, but I don't dare to buy it from someone else because I don't want to end up with two. I also don't want to get dinged for non-payment,

WHat should I do????

The seller is not demonstrating good faith. I would buy the item elsewhere and if I ended up with two by mistake, turn around and sell the extra. Could sell it to someone else in the class, sell it online or even donate it to the school and maybe take the tax write-off....
Getting the book into your DD's hands as soon as humanly possible is what's important in this situation.

I've had good luck buying textbooks (used and new) off of Amazon and Alibris - there are others. Maybe you possibly rent it? There are some websites that rent textbooks, I think "Chegg" is one of them.

Good luck - I now what's it like to be waiting for that needed book for a class...
agnes!

Well, she already has the book which the school issued. We decided to get copies of the books to keep at home so she doesn't have to schlep a 25 lb backpack on her 1 3/4 mile uphill walk home.

I'm just angry that the seller isn't communicating, and I can't seem to cancel the sale from my side.

I think that you are overreacting somewhat.

At this point, I would simply buy the book from someone else. You won't get stuck with two books because the seller no longer has your money.

Well, that is true. But the listing is still open and I am concerned that if she gets a new copy of her book into her 'store', she is all of a sudden going to report me as non-paying.

And why would she leave the listing still there and show '2 available'?

Maybe something came up in their personal life. They didn't have much time and decided the best course of action for the time being was to refund the money as that is what a purchaser would want. They are now dealing with whatever happened.

They can't neg you. But if they try to report you as a non-paying bidder later, send Ebay a copy of the Paypal e-mail showing you paid. I really doubt they will do that.

I have refunded payments if a buyer's Paypal account says it is Ineligible for Seller Protection. But usually only if it's a high dollar amount or out of the country. And I always send a note to the buyer as to why.

This is clearly not the case. She listed over 150 new items this morning, and at least that many yesterday as well.

You can set items up to begin their listing at a future date and time. Just because she listed something today, doesn't mean that SHE listed anything today.

Thanks, I am keeping copies of everything, just in case. It's a small $ amount (less than $15 including shipping). I had another auction last week that the seller realized he was off on his inventory count, but he emailed me (and apologized) twice to let me know. I just thought that this lady could email me to let me know for sure what happened instead of leaving me hanging. It's not like she' just adopted a baby and is too busy:rotfl2: she's still listing things left and right.

Have you checked the paypal account to see if they issued you a refund? Contact them and then wait and see if paypal issues the refund then you will know. Jo
