Yet another Developer Points question

I called Sunday to book our developer points for July and was told that because SSR was not our home resort I had to wait for the 7 month window. My issue with this is that we have no choice but to book at SSR within WDW and therefore should be able to book as if it's our home resort within the 11 month window.

Am I the only one frustrated about this?

As I understand it, all developer points can only be used at the 7 month window and have no "home resort" priority. "No such thing as a free lunch" kind of thing.

If it helps, I really doubt you will have a problem reserving a July vacation at SSR at the 7 month window.

I know, I know, you're right. But I just really wanted to get this one on the books. It'll be our first trip "home" as official DVC members!

We were able to book 3 nights at SSR with 24 hours notice about 10 days ago. They do have a lot of villas there!

Yes, I think you are the only one who feels that way
Developers Points do not have Home Resort priority. Nor should they. Why would you have priority over an owner there.
Sorry for your frustration, but I think this is the right thing to do.

I have to disagree - in a non-internet-stupid-argument kind of way

Since the points HAVE TO be used at SSR, I think they should get the 11 month booking window. If they were good at any DVC resort, I'd be fine with the 7 month window, just like any other points. But, what matters is that Disney agrees with you
