Yet another birth certificate question

Our cruise is at the end of July and I am FREAKING OUT with the preparation! (I've been a lurker here for quite awhile now- just signed up today!) I've been searching the boards for birth certificate info to make SURE I have everything in order. I started searching to find out if the wallet size ones are good (FL). Then I came across a thread about a problem with ones from NJ??? These are not for passports, just for this year "getting on the ship" documents- & all have a raised seal. So, anyone have info on wallet size and/or NJ birth certificate problems? Thanks!

I have one of those from VA & was told to get the paper copy. I didn't want to take any chances.

Why take the chance? Just order standard BC's. Call your state agency and ask them your question if you must take the smaller BS's.

Virginia has stopped issuing the wallet-sized birth certificates b/c they aren't accepted everywhere.

I too suggest you obtain a full-size birth certificate.

My understanding is that you have to have the raised seal on the Birthcertificate.

I will be on the July 24 Wonder, since this is my 3rd cruise I had decided to get passports. My big problem now is nightmares!!! I keep having them; that I get to the port and forgot to take them!!. I really wish they would stop, they are making me really nervous!!! :rotfl2:

My wife was born in NJ and when we went on the Wonder in 2001 she needed the raised seal certificate.

This seems to be one of those things where it depends on who you talk to. Some Jersey towns didn't put the parents name on the b/c ( before 1989 ). I called about my DH and they said he had to get a new one if we are going to use it to travel. That the new ones have more info on it. My DS called about hers and they said it was fine as long as it has the seal. 2 Different towns but the same looking b/c. So I told my DS to call Disney Cruise directly. But if anyone finds out please tell.

That's actually the cruise we are on & I am having those same nightmares!

Has anyone heard of someone actually being turned away for not having the right kind of certificate? Even though I know the rest of ours are good I keep taking them out every couple of days and feeling the seal/ rereading it etc. My husband thinks I'm a crazy person, but I can tell I'm starting to worry him too! He's called the cruise help line more than once to calm me down ;o)

He called once again today and "Janet" said the wallet size is fine- people use them all the time. We don't want to spend the extra money for nothing, but I know I'm still going to be a nervous wreck until we get on the boat!
