Yet Another Annual Pass Question

I am planning on at least 2 3-day Disney trips over the next 12 months. I think getting the Deluxe Annual Pass is going to be the best option for me, but I have a couple of questions before I buy it.

1. I assume the annual pass is valid from purchase date for one year and not only through the calendar year. I'm sure it does, but my husband insists I confirm this!

2. My first use of my AP won't be until November. Should I buy the actual AP now or should I buy a gift voucher and redeem it for the AP when I arrive at DL in November? If prices do go up before I turn in the voucher for my AP, will I have to pay the price difference?

Thank you!

It's valid from a year past your first entry into the park.

They actually give you 366 days. I got my DAP on July 26 and it is good thru July 26, 2011. It is good for one year plus one day from first usage.

You can buy it now but it will not be active until you use it on the first day in November.

If you know any teachers in California you can buy discounted DAPs from the teachers credit union. I got mine for $279. See this post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=37326111&postcount=13

As tdashgirl said, it is good for 1 year plus a day, starting upon activation (entering the Park for the first time).

Well, if you KNOW you are going on the trip and can afford to buy it now, there is no real reason to wait. If you buy it now and prices go up, you saved yourself some money.

Of course, iff there is any chance your trip is not going to happen, it would be best to wait.

You mentioned getting the Deluxe, make sure you have checked the blockout days against your trip dates to be sure this pass will work for you. :)

If you aren't going to buy now, you could buy park hoppers and upgrade. We usually do this as at least 1 person in our party already has an AP for food discounts and we get MM for one day during our trip since we stay off site. Your AP effective date is would be the date you first use your PH tickets.

However, if the price of APs goes up between now and their trip, they would have to pay the higher price.

I better be going on this trip! I have non-refundable airfare and non-refundable hotel reservations! LOL

Luckily, I am a big fan of going in the off season so the blackout dates don't apply to either of my trips!

Thanks for the information! I will buy my AP today! Yay!

Prices are going up this Thursday. Get it now and activate it in Nov. The delux pass is going up to $329. Thats a $30 increase. Parking is going up $20

Yes - I bought my AP on Monday and DH surprised me by buying APs for him and our daughter yesterday! I have my 40th birthday trip with the girls the first week of November and we are taking DD on for a family holiday trip the first week of December. Yay!
