Some of you may remember I was made redundant at the start of March, well I have been offered a job today (starting a week Monday) and although it doesn't pay as well as my old job, it means we can get back to planning our holiday!!! :cool1:

I feel sooooooo relieved, I was starting to think after applying for so many jobs that I would be out of work for ages and our holiday would have to be cancelled!

5 months to go now and im feeling really excited about it again!

:yay::yay::yay:

P.S. Thanks to all those of you who sent messages of sympathy and good luck, it really meant a lot! :)

Thats great news im glad you get to start again with the planning and wont have to cancel. :cool1:

Congratulations - I remember the feeling well when my husband was offered a job about 6 months after being made redundant. You can now enjoy planning for your holiday.

That's great news:thumbsup2 Eldest DD was out of work for 2 months at the end of last year - degree in law and she is working in a cafe:confused3 however she is off to work in Ibiza next week for 6 months

That's great news!

I can truly sympathise, Last year our buisness went down (Thank you Mr bank manager for pulling the loans!) and we had to cancel our trip (along with other major heartaches)

I am now gainfully employed at a much lower salary, but at least I feel I am contributing again and we have been able to book for this year.
Oh and can sleep well again! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear that, Obi. We're in a similar position. Matt's business was prospering until the downturn and then the work dried up. He's been looking for employment since last October and, despite being well-qualified and very capable, is struggling even to get to interview stage. For the first time for as long as I can remember, we don't have a trip booked. Still, we're lucky to have been as many times as we have and we're managing to stay positive.

Congratulations to you, OrlandoMagic. Enjoy your planning and good luck for a week Monday. :thumbsup2

Good for you Simon. Like Obi - I sank a business last year. But it is never the end of the world.

Deb - long time no speak :) I'm sorry Matt's business is struggling and things are not coming through on the job front. Is there any way he could diversify? It's times like this when I wish I'd gone into the funeral business or something.

Well done! :goodvibes I'm currently temping and for now getting work every day alongside the office work I always do for my dad but I really want something permanent for my own sanity if nothing else, shame the competition is so fierce at the moment even for the most mundane jobs :headache:

Sorry to hear that Deb, so many people so badly effected this time around, in thirty years of work I have never seen it so bad. Every day I am talking to people who are either taking redundancy or being pushed out through early retirement. All over Europe I am having companies I deal with go under and not just the small ones.
Hope something comes up for Matt soon, its soul destroying.
I had altogether nine months without any money coming in, what with the winding up of the buisness and then having to find someting to give me earnings. Luckily a friend got me into his buisness. I am lucky compared to some of my workforce who are classed as too old (unnoficialy of course) to be taken on. On the scrap heap at 45 :-(
Last year we had one week in Spain (already booked and paid for) and that was it. This year we will have to be careful with the pennies when in Florida, but I was determined to get away this time.

It does not seem to be easing, I have literally just spoken to a neighbour of mine who works at Cummins and a third of the workforce have to go, he doesn't know what his future is.
At our place, Middle managers are being offered pay cuts and loss of company cars and grade demotions or redundancy. It just does not seem to end.

Congratulations Simon on being able to get back into holiday planning :goodvibes

Obi glad that you are picking up the pieces along with many others :)

Fingers crossed for Matt, Deb. My brother has recently been make redundant from his architectural practice. What jobs there are has 1,000's chasing them :headache:

yay im pleased to hear youve got a job, well done.xx :)

good luck to everyone still searching.xx :goodvibes
