My DS is at Disney now. They went to participate inth e YES program. he has had a blast buy the way.

Last night he was talking about how he rode Exp Everest 6 times yesterday. Was he able to do that because of the program and not having to stand in lines or is it that this time of year is less crowded and wait times are low?

We're going back in July so he'll be disappointed in the time to wait then I'm sure.

What is the "YES program"? Right now is a less crowded time to visit to between using fastpasses along with the standby line it could be done. In July that would be a different story. The crowd projection for July is much larger than what it would be right now.

I think Thursdays in AK are just less crowded. We were there 4/30-5/9, and went to AK on 5/4. We rode EE once at opening, then with a FP. At the end of the day, we ended up leaving by walking past there and through Dinoland. When we got to EE at about 1/2 hour before closing, the standby line was 10 minutes (but wasn't). DH, DS, my sister and I went on 3 times in a row.....no wait.

Course it was also in the 90's that day, so I think that tuckered people out early, too.

We went back to AK on Sun morning 5/7 for a couple of hours....when we were getting ready to leave at noon, the FP return signs already said 4:45!!! So they were almost out and the standby line was HUGE....

Awesome ride, by the way. :teeth:

Since AK doesn't have any kind of closing ceremony, it tends to really start emptying out the last hour. I was able to do EE 3 times in the last 25 minutes at the end of March. The last 2 times were practically walk ons.

The Yes program here in Tennessee helps kids learn about careers and helps them learn career skills and independent living skills. They have career days and special meetings where they can earn money. It is very helpful.

Disney's YES (Youth Education Series) program is a series of educational programs in all 4 parks (different programs in different parks) that can be booked by school groups, boy/girl scout groups, homeschool groups, church groups, etc ... groups must be 10 or more people, in grades K-12.

From the YES Program Webpage:
"Disney Youth Education Series (Y.E.S.) is an opportunity to explore a wide variety of concepts and issues designed to enlighten, inspire, and thrill. Many programs are designed to meet national standards or scout badge requirements. All programs take students inside or behind the scenes of the Walt Disney World Resort to share the magic of learning -- Disney style. "

I know friends that facilitate some of the programs, and although they may get to go on rides or get a fastpass as part of the program, they'd only do 1 or 2 different rides, not 6 times on the same ride.

DS is back. He had a blast. He was able to ride so many times because of his savy chaperone. I found out.

They only had classses part of the time. It was after that they were able to ride so many times.

Thanks for explaining the Y.E.S. program. It was great DS said.

Hello....I am amazed that you are so close to me...I used to have a friend who lived in Whitwell....No...it is not done through the schools....I wish it were though...you know some of our kids need help!! It is an independent program. I don't have the numbers except for the one in Bradley and Hamilton counties. I work with kids in foster care and they have learned lots of skills from it. They like to earn that extra money too (I would too!!). It is open to all people ages 14-21. If you are older, they have job placement programs and job skills training. It's a great program!! I have a feeling that Marion county does not have one, but I could be wrong.
