Is there any way to pay for just the program price for the adult who will chaperone 2 kids, age 11?

The cheapest ticket option I see is for a 1 day starter price of around $95. That's pretty steep for a program that has a class price of around $35 if you add on another class.

I would be paying for 8 day premium tickets for the 2 11 yr olds, but would have an AP for myself, and I'm the only adult taking these 2 boys, who are my grandsons.

Does any one have experience with this issue?

I don't think there's any way around it. Just consider the $95 that you're paying to be part of the cost of the tickets for the boys. You'll still come out paying less than if you'd bought regular tickets and no YES class.

You have to buy the ticket to take the class. Disney does not make exceptions for those with AP's.
