We found out this weekend that we passed ROFR for a Saratoga Springs 150 point contract for $66 a point. Better yet it is a February use year with all 2009 points and the seller paying 1/2 2009 dues. It makes me wonder if Disney is even using ROFR at this time.

That's an awesome deal. Congratulations.

I sold several small stripped contracts at Vero over the last two years for more than that!

I don't think I would have done as well in today's market! :cool1:

I read an article posted elsewhere about how the bank that financed the DVC side cutting off, or greatly scaling back, the line of credit to DVC. Many speculate this will have a large impact on ROFR'ing so I'm not surprised and rather expect resale to keep going down.

I just bought a 160 point contract at Saratoga Springs for $65 a point with a December use year. All points are available for 2008 and 2009. I do have to pay maintenance fees. To add even more excitement, I just called this morning at the 7 month window and booked 2 studios at Bay Lake Tower for the 2009 Food and Wine Festival. I confirmed the rooms for September 29-October 4. I got the last standard view room and had to take one Bay Lake view room. The Member Services representative said there were plenty of Bay Lake view rooms left.

there were 3 standard view studios available I got the other 2 for 29-4
on the other hand I did pay $68 per point

Wow .. why would anyone in their right mind purchase SSR from Disney for 50% more? Makes you wonder why anyone would purchase any points through Disney at all given this steep drop in true market value. Cant help but to think that this hasnt even bottomed out yet, hold on tight folks this is getting ugly.

While we did not buy into DVC as an investment, just for the sake of vacationing, a resell at that rate would have us breaking even in half the time!:thumbsup2
CONGRATS to you on a GREAT purchase.
Leaving now and heading over to the resell page.... Come on BWV resells.....Shawnpirate:

Wow what a great deal. I wish I had some free cash and was not still anoyed at the DVC changes. Having priority to treehouse booking is really a strong draw.

I wonder how the guides are going to be able to sell it at $100+ with a straight face and sleep at night with the resale market that low, maybe they will have to hire some whyndom or timeshare organization sales people to do it, they are used to having "customers" loose 40-90% fo thier value the day after they purchase

We bought a BWV resale 5 yrs ago for $76, and it looks like prices are creeping back down to that area. I'd expect it to continue lower. A bit of patience may pay off.

I noticed an HHI contract offered for $56 and a couple at VB for $48 (several in the $50's). Isn't that about where they started?

Since I am hoping to pick up a resale for VWL this summer:banana: , I hope the prices do continue to drop for a bit. For me DVC is not an investment, its a life style:love: . Now is an awesome time to start adding on...

DVC must have all the inventory that they care to have at this time. I wish I were in the position that I could add-on right now.

The bad economy is really impacting DVC now. It will get worse or better if you have available cash to take advantage of this downturn.
