Yes, I'm On My Way - Surprise Trip 5 Years in the Making! - Non-Trip News 6/5/09

Heather my dear

If I were you I wouldn't worry about wearing make up! You're beautiful!

You're DH is really cute too. Then again so is Eeyore... so thats a hard choice. I might have run away with Eeyore. ha ha.

Eeyore is actually what I call my boyfriend. He does a really good Eeyore voice. I just wish he liked Disney. I think he says he hates Disney just to get me going. He said he wants to go with me some day because he knows how happy it would make me & says he wants to see my face glowing for a week straight. ha ha. Some day! I wanted him to go in September but he works for a school so he cant get off work.

The one thing about my past trips is I didnt see many characters which was kinda sad but I'm hoping that since we're going in September there won't be as many crowds & it will be easier to get pics with them!

I went in March of 2008 and again in December (yeah, I was a lucky girl last year)

Loved seeing your pics and putting a face with a name!! We will have to get a couple great character shots in September!!

Sept 12th sounds good to me too. We were going to meet Jenn at DTD that evening. I'll see if that's still a go and if it's good for you too, maybe we can meet then?

Sounds fab; keep my updated!

Hey Heather, so sorry to hear about the dogs.

Love all the cute character pictures. Here is one of me, my sister and nephew with Winnie the Pooh taken in 2007.

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. Been busy getting ready for bartending school and playing our Wii...which I really love so far, and the Wii fit is really awesome.

I love your pictures though :)

Hi! I am still getting all caught up but I just found your TR and I love it so far! Cute character pics, I especially love the one of Eeyore proposing to you! :goodvibes

Hey Heather! I am working on getting all caught up, but I am here! YES! MINI Dismeet sounds like a plan!!

First of all, I'm so sorry about your dogs. I can't imagine how sad it is for both of yall.

I love looking at your pics from your honeymoon trip though! So cute. I bet the characters have a lot of fun with brides and grooms!

As far as this quote goes:

Yeah, this is our first year to file on our own, too. It officially means we're adults, and it stinks. :rotfl2: The Turbo Tax program has an online trial that you can play around with; it'll let you plug everything in for free and tell you what you'll get back. If you want to upgrade and pay to use the program to file, it's not much (under $50.00) for the basic version. But, it is a good way to play around with your numbers and see what it gives you.

Do you mind me asking what the rebate you're talking about is? I haven't seen anything like that in Turbo Tax, and I'd love to find out we missed something!! Is there a new program, or is that for if you didn't get the stimulus rebate from last year? (They ran out of money, to my understanding, so some people were told they'd get it this year, instead.) Any info you have would be great!!!!

We filed our taxes last night (or started to). My parents bought Turbo Tax, so we did it there. And guess what!!!! DH had a church give him a 1099 for leading music there last spring!!!! He had no clue this is how it would be filed. We were really upset about it too. And is dad is being a you-know-what and saying he's going to claim him (DH). But if we have to file jointly, we'll owe. But if we file together, we'll get $3000 back. So it's likely to be a big ordeal. :headache:

I was talking about the stimulus check, but last night we got a $600 rebate for something (I have no clue what). Turbo Tax just said we qualified. I can look into it more for you if you want.

Welcome!! Thanks for joining in! I love when people post! It makes my boring days at work much, much happier.

Hello!! Wonderful! Really, we can meet out at the mall! I'd love to have a fellow WDW addict friend; none of my friends really get it, so I need someone to chat with all the time! Let me know when you get settled!!

Taxes are horrible. A church did that to him? That stinks, bad. You never really know how people are going to treat you in the long run, you know? I am still not over our situation with my ex-boss/grandfather figure. My best and worst quality is that I'm so trusting, so I find myself let down quite often. I have to remind myself that there are some great people out there that do care though.

I hope it works out for you guys; it turns out that we won't be getting our $1,500.00 refund, and we'll be paying in an additional $1,000.00; big, big ouch. Please keep me updated how it goes for you!

PS do you know if there's a group for DISers going in Sept?

Hmmm; I hadn't even thought of though. Now you've given me more reasons to dig around on the DIS. I'll let you know what I come up with!

Heather..i'm doing fine. Just burned out from Bartending school. We went out tonight and I ordered a blue hawaiian...I had to tell them what to put in it. Made me feel good to know what I was talking about.

Yuck, taxes! That's what I have to say. Although, we can be thankful that we aren't in Cali. I heard that they were having to issue IOUs to folks cause they couldn't pay tax returns. Don't know if it's true, but I definitely heard it somewhere. :scared1:

Staci, there are couple floating around...I don't have links right now though...

Thanks! Please let us know! I would love to see who all is going when we are.

Well, I don't know if the church meant for it to be bad for him. He wasn't a "real" employee--he only worked once a week leading music. But it still stinks! Trust is a great quality, but it can hurt you too. But it's better to trust than always be cynical. STINK! I'm so sorry yall owe. The biggest issue is what his dad is going to do. I'll keep you updated. Thanks for caring! :)

Sorry been MIA for a bit, I went to London for Valentines and then down to my parents and they had no internet which was rather frustrating. But I am back now, so what have I missed?

I'm not trying to be nosey but I am pretty certain that if your children are married you can no longer claim them as a dependent. There are a few exceptions - like mentally or physically disabled and you are still taking care of your child fulltime. Or if they are 24 years old or younger, still in school, and the parents are still providing full financial support. That just doesn't sound right being able to claim a married son/daughter. I would check with a local accountant to be sure though.
If he is in school and they are providing some financial support, then they may be able to count that money as a gift. Then you would have to inturn claim that as income if it is over a certain amount. Again I would check with a professional.

ETA:
Sorry, couldn't let this rest. Found this on the IRS website:

In general, to be a taxpayer’s qualifying child, a person must satisfy four tests:

Relationship — the taxpayer’s child or stepchild (whether by blood or adoption), foster child, sibling or stepsibling, or a descendant of one of these.
Residence — has the same principal residence as the taxpayer for more than half the tax year. Exceptions apply, in certain cases, for children of divorced or separated parents, kidnapped children, temporary absences, and for children who were born or died during the year.
Age — must be under the age of 19 at the end of the tax year, or under the age of 24 if a full-time student for at least five months of the year, or be permanently and totally disabled at any time during the year.
Support — did not provide more than one-half of his/her own support for the year.
