Yes, I'm On My Way - Surprise Trip 5 Years in the Making! - Non-Trip News 6/5/09

We're telling them (my parents) for Easter!

We're going to take them out to dinner (My brother & 2 cousins) and each give them a gift. One person is going to give them a stuffed Disney character (chip & dale for Dad & Belle for mom) One person is going to give a camera. One is going to give a Disney Book. And I'm going to give them the hotel confirmation, tickets, dining plan info and flight info as well as the receipts that it is ALL PAID FOR.

OMG... I can't wait! :yay:

It was funny because on Valentines day I gave them both cards thanking them for all they have always done for me & apologized for not being able to afford anything for them. I said "some day I will be able to do something to show you both how much you mean to me"

Little do they know... ha ha.

I'll def keep you updated & I'll let you know what they say once we tell them.

You'll HAVE to do the same!!!

BTW... we're staying at AKL. What about you?

Awe I'm sorry about your tax situtation!! Sucks big time can't wait to hear more about your trip

... to say hi and that I'm enjoying your trip report. :flower3:

You have gotten further along than I have and I leave in 3 weeks! :lmao:

Your wedding was gorgeous! Beautiful pictures. :bride:

As for the tax stuff - employers either do Form W-2s or 1099, they have no other options. If they aren't paying into your health care and taking out taxes, etc., then you get a 1099, whether you actually run a "business" or not. It's one of those "that's the way it goes" deals.

I also brought my mom to WDW for a trip. She, unfortunately, was stricken with a terminal disease (docs said she would have 3-4 years) and I wanted her to have some fun. We did go at a easy pace, but she was getting tired very easily. Though, she said she had a wonderful time. She passed away about 2 months after coming home (so much for the 3-4 years!). I concentrate on the fun WDW memories instead of everything that came after.

Both of my parents would have been 70 this year (today is mine & my father's bday!) and I wanted to do something for them at WDW but they took down Living Legacy at Epcot. :sad1:

Maybe I'll have a Dole Whip in their honor (never have), have wonderful fun and laugh alot while I'm there. :goodvibes

As for school - it will always be there. I took off a semester before heading to grad school. The GMAT was a rough one, so I could only imagine LSAT!

Thank you for the V-Day post as well!

Hope you had a good day at work!! Sending good vibes your way. Got a bit of bad news from the company I work for today--they're cutting hours b/c the call volume is really low!!! Sorry for being off topic..just thought I'd share.

Sorry about your bad news! Like I tell DH, we're lucky to have anything right now compared to so many people in our country. So, I'm very happy that you still have work to do right now!!

That's so cute! I haven't worked out exactly what we're doing, yet! Please keep me updated with how it goes. I have to keep my mouth shut until June. It's killing me already!

We'll be at POP! We got my parents their own room; DH really wanted to do AKL, but it wasn't in the budget this year. We've made a deal that we'll stay there next time.

Awe I'm sorry about your tax situtation!! Sucks big time can't wait to hear more about your trip

I just keep telling myself "DISNEY! DISNEY! DISNEY!" It's helping me get through it. And, thanks for coming on board!

Thank you for the compliments! I'll have to post more wedding pictures on our anniversary in June! :lovestruc

I've actually spoken with a tax attorney; he said I should have been filed as an employee, not a contractor. So now, I have to figure out if it's worth the fight or not. He said if I file the paperwork through the IRS, I'll win. I just don't know if I want to cross that bridge. :sad2:

I'm sorry to hear about your mom, but I'm so glad you have such wonderful memories from that trip. That's what I hope to get from this; I think DM will kill me for a few weeks knowing I could've put this money towards law school, but she'll get over it. Well, she better or I won't talk to her the entire trip.

Thank you for sharing your story; it really made me 110% certain I made the right choice. You never know what is going to happen in life and have to do what you can to live while you have the chance!!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I promise to update tomorrow; we've had some bad ozone levels in DFW the past few days. I woke up in the middle of the night on Tuesday from an asthma attack because of it - which, I don't normally have, ever. I'm on an antibiotic and a steroid nebulizer treatment. It's horrible and gives me the shakes. So, I've been feeling pretty cruddy the past couple of days. DH has nicknamed me "shakes." Right now, I don't think it's funny as I really look like someone breaking a drug addiction, but I'm sure I'll laugh at myself in a few days. :rotfl:

Hope everyone is having a great week so far, though!

Awww Heather I'm sorry you're sick. It seems like everyone is coming down with something... I hope you are feeling better soon. That sounds awful.:sad2:

Get some rest, a bubble bath and a hot cup of tea!:goodvibes

Oh, I just love your PTR!! and you are so so sweet! I hope my daughter loves me as much as you do yours! and your dh seems so sweet as well! We definitely have to meet up for our brief time together!

Hope you feel better soon!

Feel better soon Heather. I've used those things too and don't like them one bit.

In all honesty, AKL isn't in our budget either but I was told by a friend to look into renting a Disney Time share (which brought me to these boards & I'm SO glad it did)

It's actually working out to be much more affordable that way.

I would have been great with Pop but my Dad (who is the other one were surprising) is the kinda person who HAS TO have the "best" and since my parents don't really have the money we made the decision right off the bat. I know my father well enough where if we told him we were staying at like POP or All Star he'd want to find a way to "upgrade" to like the Grand Floridian.

Plus mama had said that she wanted to stay there because she thinks it would be amazing to look out the hotel window & see the animals.

I'll def post everything once I tell them & I hope you feel better dear.

Lots of love <3

I got caught up today! Yay! :goodvibes

I'm sorry to hear you are sick! It seems like almost everyone I know is sick right now, including me. Bleh. Whats cruddy is that I can't take off work because it will cut into my Disney Vacation time! le sigh. I do hope you get to feeling better soon!

Hey, Heather! I hope you're feeling better soon!

:sad2: That shaking sounds terrible!

Here's something to make you feel a little better....

Hopefully a little bit of magic will help get you back on your feet. :wizard:

Hi! I just found your PTR and think it is so great that you are surprising your mom and dad! I don't think I would ever be able to keep that a secret for 6 months!

I got married last summer too and love your wedding pic that you posted!!! Beautiful!

You are going to love Pop Century! I have stayed there only once but thought it was very fun!

Hope you feel better soon!:goodvibes

Hey Heather. hope you are feeling well soon. Had to come and tell you that I was able to get CRT for my vacation in May!!! I couldn't believe it, I even got the day that I wanted and the meal. My daughter's are going to be sooo excited! Looking forward to reading of your PTR!

I did all of that, and got a foot rub from DH. That's why I keep him around. :lmao:

Just stay involved in your DD's life and I'm sure you two will be close, too! My mom was there through so many of my favorite memories; that's why we're as close as we are now.

Thank you!!

That's how DF used to be, too. They had a difficult financial time 6 years ago, and have only been able to go to WDW once since then. So now, I know he'll be able as a lark just to be going at all. If I told him he had to sleep in the mini van, he'd probably get over it and still be happy. Haha.

That's wonderful what you're doing! Please take pictures and share! That's DH's fav resort and he's never even stayed there! (Silly DH.) He loves animals though; so, we'll make it there some day!

Hope you get well soon, Heather!! :goodvibes

Yeah, I'm saving my PTO for September, so I drug myself in too. It went OK; I was just worried they'd drug test me from the shakes I had. Haha.

Feel better Heather! :goodvibes

Thank you!

Aw Heather. Hope you get feeling better.

Thanks!!

Still sending healthy thoughts your way!

They worked! Thank you!

LOVE the picture!!

I'm so excited about POP!

When did you get married last summer??

I'm going to head over to your blog, too! You need one on here! :)

Hey Heather. hope you are feeling well soon. Had to come and tell you that I was able to get CRT for my vacation in May!!! I couldn't believe it, I even got the day that I wanted and the meal. My daughter's are going to be sooo excited! Looking forward to reading of your PTR!

You and your girls are going to LOVE CRT! It's one of our favs!! They get a fairy godmother wand, too. Our waiter gave me one last time and I have it hanging in my closet! (DH got a sword; which, they confiscated from his carry on bag at the airport and made him put it in his checked bag. Apparently, plastic swords from WDW are a threat to society.)

did you see Bolt 3D? I saw it in 3D and it was awesome ;)

the Main Street bakery is a tradition for me.

I gotta have a cupcake and a frozen latte there........ omg I'm dreaming of it now hehehe

Ok, Kohl's put my other dress up on their site (the one DH surprised me with for Le Cellier); this is a horrible picture of it, though. Not good on their part; it's cuter in person! But, this is it:

I'm starting to feel better, but the rest of our week stunk. DH and I are both huge animal people (as are both of our parents). Right now, DH and I have 2 cats (living with us) and 2 labs (who are too big for our apartment & living with my parents right now - aka grandma and grandpa.)

Well, DH also had two golden retrievers as family dogs that stayed with his parents when we moved in together. We had to put one of them to sleep in December because of old age. And, out of no where, DFIL calls DH on Thursday and says the other golden has advanced kidney failure and there isn't much they can do for her. So, she was put to sleep this morning.

DH is definitely not ashamed to cry when he's hurting, and his heart has definitely been hurting the past couple of days. Our pets our like our babies and family members, so it hasn't been a very good couple of days.

These were his girls, Xanthe and Ginger:

Needless to say, we haven't done any planning this week. So, since I don't have any updates, I thought I'd just share some of our favorite character pictures from our honeymoon last summer (which, please note that I didn't do much make-up at all that week; I just wanted to get out of the room every morning to the parks - forget worrying about make-up!):
Clownin' around at DHS:
Honeymoon083.jpg

Not kidding, Mickey looked me up and down and then did this to DH:
Honeymoon093.jpg

Then, he played minister and re-married us:
Honeymoon118.jpg

Mrs. Incredible oogled my ring, pointed out to Mr. Incredible that she didn't have one, and then made the guys do this:
Honeymoon142.jpg

If you remember from earlier in the PTR, Stitch is one of my fav fluffies (him, and Eeyore); I told him that, and he tried to steal me from DH (who doesn't look very amused):
Honeymoon175.jpg

DH made sure Stitch knew who I was leaving AK with:
Honeymoon183.jpg

Pooh bear:
Honeymoon324.jpg

I told Eeyore that I loved him (he is my other favorite); he immediately dropped down on one knee and proposed and of course, I said yes (so, we're engaged; DH wasn't too happy):

So little:

DH giving Eeyore some love:

I'd love to see some of your favorite character photos, so please share! I need something to cheer us up for the day!
