Yes, another "aargh!" post.

More budget cuts hit DLR. Ouch.

Makes it much more important for us to try to see it this upcoming Sunday, then. Praying the weather cooperates!

Very sad to hear that.....glad I get to see them one more time next week! :sad1:

I'm trying to stay positive. But now it's getting a little frustrating. I plan a vaca for a slightly less croweded time (last week of May after Memorial Day weekend craziness) since I'm not going to get back to California from Vermont very frequently.

Then I find out that big nighttime entertainment only happens on Fri, Sat and Sunday that time of year. Ok. I extend my vaca a couple of days to give me all three nights. And I'm willing to skip F!, since I didn't really love it at WDW anyway, in order to make sure I see RDCT and DEC.

Then I find out there will likely be no DEC while we're there. OK, little frustrating since I love SpectroMagic and I'm excited to see a different electrical parade. But I'll survive.

Then I find out there may not be F! while we're there. Again OK, especially since it was the "throw away" anyway.

Now a scaled down version of RDCT?!?! Wishes at WDW is my favorite thing. And I was so excited to see what DL had to offer. I haven't even watched on YouTube because I wanted to experience it first hand.

Man, if they cancel swing dancing on Saturday night, I'm gonna lose it!!! :scared1:

wow all these changes. It says that this spring will be the last of this fireworks, i hope it stays till the end of April so i can see it. I am looking forward to all the changes and hope to beable to return for a trip number 2 in 2012 and see all the differences. First trip is this April

Oh man.....I want to watch it one more time.....I'll have to check the schedule.

I will miss RDCT. It's a spectacular show! But honestly I'm looking forward to less gridlock and closed attractions.

I hope the plan for a revamped Star Tours goes through though. That would be wonderful for the attraction. It's a family favorite of ours. And of course I'm VERY excited about all the changes coming to DCA.:woohoo:

Remember is, by far, my fave thing in all the Disney parks. I am so sad!

Does anyone have a date for when the current fireworks show will end? Wondering if it will still be there May 9th when we are planning to see it (again)?

Make sure you check the schedule. We were told that the fireworks won't start until the 14th of this month.
We were bummed that we didn't get to see them, but it's ok.

While I'm sad that RDCT is going away, in a small way, it's a good thing when you look at the big picture.

RDCT, from a Guest Control standpoint, has been an absolute nightmare. It's a very popular show, and attracts tonnes of people; but, at the same time, it closes off many of the viewing areas that could be used to hold those people, which results in gridlock along Main Street.

From what I understand, it was designed over in Florida, where they're used to being able to accomodate large, elaborate shows like Wishes: A Magical Gathering of Disney Dreams at the Magic Kingdom Park because of the size of that park, and the fact that there are no residential areas surrounding it.

As Disneyland Park is much smaller and is in a surburban area, the concept simply did not translate at all, resulting in large segments of the park being closed, as well as frequent cancellations due to high winds.

While I'm sure that this new show, if it does come about, will be still fairly elaborate in it's theme and show elements, it will probably be closer to Fantasy in the Sky with regards to the pyrotechnics themselves.

For the same reasons, I would also expect a redesign of the DLR presentation of Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky, which suffered from the same problems when we presented it on 4 July last year.

What the hay. I was thinking to myself about RDCT the other night, and I was like "Oh, it's a great show incorporating all the rides and whatnot. I'm sure they'll keep it running for another few years."

:(

Well... just to offer the "other side" -
It was supposed to be the fireworks show for the 50th. They got rid of it and then brought it back because it was just so dang good.

We have been lucky to enjoy it for as long as we have.

That said, it is an amazing show and I will miss it. Not so sure I'll miss being a sardine on Main Street though. hehe

Me too! darn :( Glad I have seen it several times and have the soundtrack..i suppose it will forever live on on You Tube...and BTW OP Fantasmic is different than in FL and so worth watching.

This is my favorite thing, too, so I am feeling sad. I will miss it. But I totally understand the crowd problems and such because of it. Hopefully, they will look at doing just a smaller version of this show with the same music and all.

I hope so too! I can't imagine missing them!

I am sad and bummed, we'll never see the show again. :sad1: On the flip side, I have been surprised Remember lasted as long as it did.

I loved a Fantasy in the Sky so if they do something like that again, it will still be a treat, albeit not as big of a treat!

Last trip we didn't see RDCT, it was shortly after my mom died (only a week) and most nights I was just too drained. Now I wish we had gone!:sad2:

I won't miss those crowds thats for sure.

Thank you for this perspective. We were stuck in the crowd before the fireworks last October and left before we could even watch them. The crowd was one of the worst I have seen in DL. I agree the park is not well-suited to hold such large scale shows, although I have heard from many the show was spectacular. Hopefully, this will be taken into account for the design of the Colors shows at DCA.

Are you British? I totally caught the way you spelled tons, and the way you wrote the date!!
