I know exactly what you mean!! I joined a paper piecing sway and I was so stupid for choosing a pretty hard one for my first time. When I rcv'd everyone else's beautiful swap pieces, I was embarrassed over mine. I've not done a swap for paper piecings again 
Mine just didn't look near as nice as everyone else's'.
I am getting better with my scrapbooking, and taught myself thru reading other's instructions how to make shakers. I'm excited cause I just bought an eyelet setter, and a large Winnie punch for half price. Now to get to work
