yep ...prices increased

Must be a glitch because mine says $600 something for the 9 day tickets.

I noticed that now the dining plan said save 15% when in 2012 it said save 20%.

Prices are definitely up because same week in August WL standard was same price as AKL standard. In 2013 WL is now about $50 more for the week. The pool view at AKL is now closerin price to the standard view at WL.

Anybody else getting weird results with ticket prices on the packages? For the one I was looking at, the difference b/t 8 days and 9 days (Park hoppers, 2 adults, 1 child) is over $400!!! The difference in all the other days 6-7, 7-8, 9-10, is the usual $30 or so.

I don't remember this ever being the case before -is it a mistake or are they really discouraging 9 days for some reason??? This doesn't happen when I just try to buy tickets separately on the website. Any ideas???

10 Day Ticket $+63.90
9 Day Ticket $+417.95
8 Day Ticket $0.00
7 Day Ticket $-31.95
6 Day Ticket $-63.90
5 Day Ticket $-95.85
4 Day Ticket $-133.13
3 Day Ticket $-176.79
2 Day Ticket $-383.40
1 Day Ticket $-725.28

This was happening to me as well, the price increased when I removed water parks and more on a 9 day package. Good thing I wasn't really planning on booking today.

I was getting $800 to add to a 9 day base ticket. It has now been fixed.

I am annoyed that some of the price increases seem to be because they got rid of Standard views at some villas. I'm assuming the views didn't suddenly get better, so I don't feel willing to pay almost $100 more a night.

I just comapred prices for our stay. and for the same week this year compared to next is only $43. That is room only, 7 nights. When I looked at the price breakdown, only the Fri & Sat had increased in price, I think. This was for AoA. The CM I spoke with informed me I need to check back in a few days for my rates, so I will check what else I can get. PORR comes up significantly cheaper.

You know the old saying that there's nothing more certain in life than death and taxes.

Well, I have another one.

There are 3 things you can count on going up in price much more than the general rate of inflation:

1. The cost of medical care;
2. The cost of secondary education; and
3. The cost of going to Disney World

just priced our planned trip at online 2013 prices......our planned pkg has risen $500 in price for a week......

I priced out our April vaca (week after peak ends) package at POR and found the cost to be $490 more than the 2012 rate. Not too too bad considering it's for 9 people and 3 rooms.

Now I have to discuss with DW and DMIL if they want to book right away and play the wait (and hope) for a discount package game or wait until the fall when they come out. With 9 people and all the 5 young-uns this trip I think I'd rather get a 20-30% discount than dining. Planning 6 or 7 sit-downs with this crew could be a pain in the a-- :lmao:

I figured it had to be a glitch, just didn't make sense. Glad they've gotten it taken care of already. However, with the increased cost of everything else, I think we are just going to do 7 nights/8 days. So it wouldn't have affected us anyway.

The DxDP increase hit us hard, plus the room rates went up a LOT more than I was expecting. Almost $800 over what I had budgeted  The 7 night package is about what I was expecting for an 8 night package. (part of that I admit was my own fault, I don't think I was factoring in tax, oops!)

Feeling a little down about it, but as DH said this morning, the fun will just have to be more "concentrated", lol!

We booked POR 7 royal rooms for our grand gathering; I just wasn't sure how popular they would be so wanted get the room-only ressie in asap.
Like you we'll be looking for free dining promo's to re-book, and you are correct about making ADRs for large groups - I've done up to 27 people at a time. :crazy2:

The QSDP increased almost $300 for 4! :scared:

EDIT: I just realized that our stay is 2 days longer than usual. Still, cost per person per day went up, but not by as much as I originally thought.

I just calculated the cost here at home (this is not official :scratchin) but by my calculations the DDP increased approximately $3 per day and the QSDP increased $4 per day.

So at about $38 a day for QS I have to severely question why I'd even bother. I was willing to do the $34, just to save the hassle of dealing with the money aspect even though the savings were already minimal.

I'd probably still do the regular DP, but it really isn't an option this year with a tribe of young ones going and not wanting to schedule sit-downs every day.

I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that vacation packages for next year would have increased. :confused3 We already knew that ticket prices have increased- and that's a big factor in any vacation package. Dining plans (of every type) have yearly increases. Room rates increase every year. Add them all up for a typical vacation package and : Bingo- price increase. Same ol' same ol'. Now we know. And now we wait for the discounts...

I'm done with the DPs. Except for the value resorts, they just aren't worth it any more. Give me a good room-only discount from now on.

I wasn't particularly shocked because ive been tracking the increases in tickets and dining, but when i priced out the room for my family, and added in tax .... :rotfl:

Im hoping to get free dining, as it seems to be a better value for a group of 5 in one room, than 30% off the room. But I am unsure if i should book now to reserve the room, and remove available inventory, or wait without booking in hopes that will spur disney to add in discounts!

So I'm hoping someone can answer for me...We are going during peak season. Spring break season actually...so I know it's going to be very busy. I was going to book the package tomorrow. Because of the time that we are going it is very unlikely that we will receive any type of discount on the room or free dining offer...correct?

Our same trip, 8 nights at POR, is 7.5% more next year at the same time of year, all else equal.

That's a steep hike considering the economy still isn't churning along like it should.

Dan

Ours is $154 more next year than would be this year. 10 days at YC, garden room. No dining, and I am fairly certain that a RO OR a FD discount will be offered for our timeframe next year...

Room only did not jump up too much more for us for 2013 vs. 2012 (only about $51), but it looks like the tickets spiked about $100 more (or about $5 per person per day on 5-day tickets) - this did go up between 2011 and 2012 substantially for POR water view with the recent refurb. :scratchin

When do you think January/February 2013 discounts might be announced? I've been waiting for the pricing to go live, but now I realize it does me no good since I'm hoping for a discount!

What is the advantage to waiting for discounts? I'm still new to this planning stuff, so forgive me. I was under the impression that if you booked and a discount became available during your planned stay, you could have the discount applied. Is that not correct?

Yes it can. If your resort and/or room category is incl. in that discount. Sometimes not all resorts or all room categories are incl. in the discount. Also you aren't guaranteed a discount just because you already have a res.
WDW only puts a certain # of rooms on the promo, and when they are booked, that's it.

Also it can work against you. if that resort is filling up without a discount, WDW is now looking at that, and won't discount that resort, you only have to look at the reduced 5% discount for WL.

Okay, understood. But: not everyone is experiencing the same increase percentage; a vacation absolutely isn't a necessity; traveling/taking a vacation improves the economy. Anyone who can afford to do it, absolutely should!

$7300 for 9nites at AKL poolview with PH and dining. This family is hoping like crazy for some free dining for 1st week of March lol.

I was trying to find some sort of link to see what their value and peaks seasons were for 2013. Anyone have that?
