Hi All

I may be a slow learner, but really struggling to get my head around FP+ and Riderswap, so bear with me.

Is this scenario correct:

Mum, Dad, 13 Year old, 8 Year old and 8 month baby head to space mountain.

Mum, 13 Year Old, 8 Year Old have FP+ for 1.40pm for Space Mountain
Dad does not have a FP for this attraction
Dad holds 8 month old outside

Mum gets a Riderswap for Dad to use later, she then uses her FP+ to ride the attraction with the kids

Dad can return later that evening, and ride Space Mountain with the older kids again, using the Riderswap, neither dad or the kids need an FP+ to ride again

Is this correct?

In my limited experience we all had to show up at the FP entrance to get the rider swap pass so they could see there was someone who isn't tall enough to ride.

I agree with pp but am not 100%.

My understanding is when I book my fp+ for the 3 in my party ( toddler will not be old enough for a ticket ) if my toddler isn't tall enough to ride do we just go up to the ride, they then issue a child swap. Me and dd (7) rides then hubby waits with our toddler until we finish the ride. Then he can go on with dd?

Is that right?

Only those riding first will need a fp+. You go to the entrance of the ride with the child who is not riding. The CM will issue you a rider switch pass. Those who are riding first will enter using their fp+'s. When you use the rider switch pass, up to 3 people can ride using this and none of them need a fp+. The pass is usually good for several days, ours were good until the end of the month. They can be used anytime.

Some rides will not actually issue the rider switch at the entrance, but those riding first will get it inside the queue. Still, the procedure is the same, first riders need a fp+ then 3 can ride with the switch pass.

So, do you recommend, to maximise the situation, that I book FP+ eligible for rider swap early each day, so the family can then book more FP rides at the kiosk afterwards and effectively double up on the rides we can go on in the busier afternoon?

Is there any other way to maximise this situation? Ie: if rider swap is for maximum of three people, could we book 1 adult and 1 child FP+ for one attraction, 1 adult and 1 child for another FP+, and then use those switch passes for one adult and two children later in the day? Therefore essentially having 6 attractions available to us each day rather than just three

There are literally dozens of ways to maximize your riding ability and it really depends on your particular touring style as to which is better. We don't book fp+'s of any kind early in the day, but we park hop so we save our fp+'s for our afternoon park.

It's not a bad idea to book the attractions that are rider switch eligible early- but I'd allow at least the first hour of the morning before booking anything. If you're at park opening, the lesser attractions should have very light standby waits. I'd take advantage of that without fp+'s.

Yes, you can do that.

Another option to maximize on rides you want to ride more than once (we did this with 7 Dwarves and Space) is to book everyone FP, but split your party into 2 groups, therefore getting 2 rider swaps. You can actually use the RS a different day even. The expiration is typically the last day of the month.

So thankful for this thread! Now I know that when we plan to use riderswap we don't have to book fp+ for all of us.

Does it HAVE to be someone who isn't tall enough? How about my 8 year old who is too scared to go on a ride so someone needs to stay back with him?
