I just got done with my yearly review. It went phenomenal. Nothing like hearing how amazing you are... :rolleyes1

Anyways - what's an "average" percentage? I walked away with 5% and Im pretty happy....but am I a fool?!??! :teeth:

So, what's the average in your neck of the woods?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Around here, people tend to jump for joy if they get more than 2%. I'm not just refering to my work place either

I think average at my company is about 3%, and every percent higher is more difficult to get. I think it's sad, really.

If we received a 5% raise around here, folks would be dancing in the aisles!! Congrats to you.

Ours is usually around 3%, and I think that's true for my region, not just my company.

Are we talking raises?

2-3% is "average", 4% is slightly above but still average. Anything over that you are doing pretty well.

Last year hubby got near average and was disappointed for the first time in his 10 year career. But he also had gotten a promotion recently and was in a new pool of dough. That is the status quo at the company though around promotion time--your raise takes a subtle hit since you were rewarded with a promotion. They will raise you enough to be in that pay range--but usually you are at the top of the previous range before you get promoted...leaving them able to get away with a 1-2% courtesy raise.

5% for his company (that I used to work for) would be cause for: :woohoo: .

At my place we were happy to get over 1% (no joke). Some years we got no increase at all... but if that happened, our bosses did try to give us a "bonus". It wouldn't make up for the pay increase but it softened the blow a little ;)

3% used to be about average, though there was a time when 5% was low and 10% was for those who did a good job (but not even outstanding)

I had a job in college--but a full time "real" job. Raises were a quarter an hour every year. So the longer you worked there...the "smaller" your raise was if talking %ages.

I've found some ways to save my employer over $60K this year, plus I took on half the workload of a girl who recently quit on top of the responsibilities I already had, so I'm really hoping to see at least a 10% raise. If I dont I'll probably just give my notice and concentrate on the company I run with a partner and look for some extra freelance writing jobs to make up the difference.

Yep that's not a rarity here either. At least not for my friends that work in technology. I left the tech sector after 5yrs with no raises (even with a promotion). They finally brought back raises but those are 1-2% depending on how close you are to their cap. Bonuses are a foreign language though

Alright - YAY!!!!! I was pretty pleased - but then thought "did I just get -verbally- raised, instead of CHA-CHING raised?!?!?"

Yay! Then Im gonna  :cheer2: now!

Thanks!

Don't you mean "Beautiful and Amazing?" (Oh wait, that's another thread... allegedly.) As someone who spent the last 13 years in HR, I can tell you that you did well! Generally 3% nowadays is given for "excellent" performance.

One time I literally got a 35 CENT per hour raise after a stellar review. (And no, I wasn't making $5.00 an hour. I was working for a cheap b****** back in 2004.) Thank goodness I stopped performing my charity work for that firm! :rotfl:

Good job, CR!!!

I mean, I think it's her husband - she has a t-shirt of him and pictures in her wallet, too.

Hmmm.... :scratchin

Because Im so beautiful and amazing - they want me to take a personality test, free!!! Sounds exciting!! :3dglasses

IM ALLOWED TO HIJACK MY OWN THREAD!! :p

3% is the average at my company

I really hate our review system 5 the highest rating is basiclly impossible to get. My boss tried to give me one for teamwork and HR knocked it down with no real reason. I just dont get why they have it if you cant get it. to get our % raise they have an equation using a base and your overall rating.

I'm on my 4th boss in 4 years, so I'm anxious to see how this boss decides to reward his employees. My old boss (who I had for 4 years) was very generous. I routinely got 4-5% from her. Then my boss after that was the exact opposite. He reviewed everybody in the department as either average or below average. We got the standard 2-3%. Then my 3rd boss was in between the two of them. She didn't like that the company was just giving everyone a flat 2% raise, so she went to bat for us and got everyone a 4% raise. So now this year is my 4th boss's turn. He seems like a puppet of his boss (he was my boss that gave everyone average/below average reviews), so I'm not holding out much hope of getting over 2%. But we'll see.

3%, which keeps up with COL, so I'm happy. I'm maxed out in my pay grade so I can't get more than that anyway, unless they adjust the pay grades.

We do get year end bonuses though, we get ours this Friday! Can't wait to find out what it is. They don't tell us ahead of time but we've been assured it's "substantial". It's based on how far under budget we (the company) come in at.

I work for the federal government and the president is authorizing a 1.8% raise for those of us not in a major metro area. It's possible Congress may add a fraction of a percent to that, but I'm not holding my breath!

Yes, 3% is good! Congratulations! :thumbsup2

We range around 3-5%. I am happy to usually get 4.5 or 5%. I am encouraged that is "good".

We just got a company wide 2% raise, and we didn't have to endure a review :thumbsup2

I'm also near the top of my pay grade so what they do is give me a lump sum "bonus" instead of an increase. The average for the last couple of years has been around 2 percent. Sometimes they split it. Part pay increase and part lump sum. It sucks. I've also had quite a few different managers over the last few years so they don't get to know me. It should be interesting to see what happens next review time. If they don't give me a full percentage bump (and at least 3 percent), I'm gonna go postal.

A while ago I found my reviews from my old company (which was a subsidiary of the one I work for now and have for 25 years) and we had raises/reviews TWICE a year and they ranged from 5-7 percent EACH time. This was back in the mid 80's to early 90's.
